Lieberman knows a thing or two about situations like this one.
He lost the primary so how can he run? Maybe as an Independent?
Go for it!
At the least, it will anger the Bernie wing and more divide the Democrat party.
Does the Republican have any chance of winning this race?
New York has eight ballot qualified parties, and the “minor” parties have to make their nominations before the primary.
And New York has “fusion”, which allows candidates to run on more than one line. Governor Cuomo, for example, is the candidate of the Women’s Equality Party as well as running in the Democrat primary. His challenger in the primary, Cynthia Nixon, also has the nomination of the Working Families Party. Governor Cuomo’s Republican opponent, Duchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, is also the nominee of the Conservative party (and I think at least one other party.)
Before the primary, the Working Families Party endorsed Rep. Crowley over Ocasio-Cortez.
The only way to get off the ballot would be to die, move out of state (or at least change your legal residence), or take a nomination for another office (usually a judicial office), which Crowley has said he regards as election fraud.
So the WFP is stuck with him in November, and he can run as actively or inactively as he wishes.
Minimal, especially since the Republican does NOT have Conservative endorsement. I believe they have their own candidate.
I was right. In addition to Ocasio-Cortez and Crowley, there is Anthony Pappas (R), a professor; Elizabeth Perri (Conservative), a marketing executive; and James Dillon (Reform), a retired investigator.
He won the primary to get on the Working Families Party line.

This is reminiscent of Lisa Murkowski in 2010. She lost her primary bid during the Tea Party uprising but decided to run as a write in and won. Heres hoping the candidate from the center of the New Democrat base loses the same way to a normal leftist.
That what was I wondering.
Idiots! This is a chance to pick up the seat.
Oh! So, the primary was a farce!
No, any party can nominate whoever they choose and the smaller parties in NY often nominate one of the major party candidates.
I love making fun of her...
This bleep is going down. She can go back to being a community organizer.
