I could easily see Trump talking to Putin about Islamic radicalism and the threat it is to Russia as well as the rest of the world. Putin knows this, and I could see there being common ground with regards Iran.

Clearly you guys don’t watch Russian TV, which is already warning that America is fomenting coup in Iran. It is NOT in Putin’s interest for his strongest middle east ally next to Assad to go through regime change. Why?

Because after Iran. Russia will be next.

Why can’t you see that Trump is treating Putin the same way he treated Kim Jong Un? You flatter your adversary. Art of the Deal.

Armenia just toppled their pro-Putin govt and Georgia is on path to join NATO.

When the public began protesting the rigged elections in Iran, and the government started shooting the protestors, Obama supported the Mullahs.

Because after Iran. Russia will be next.

Armenia already toppled their pro-Putin regime WITHOUT eestern interference. Iran is set to do the same. And Russians will oust Putin kleptocracy in their own way once they build up the courage. Its domino effect. No intereference on our part needed.

Everybody loves sparkly soccer parties but don’t let World Cup fool you. Russia’s domestic situation is NOT in good shape and the people are NOT happy with Putin.

With Trump putting up a peaceful posture, Putin can’t keep diverting attention from his own State’s corruptions and blame America for all their woes. The real enemy of Russia is not the American government or people. It is Putin and the oligarchs who have looted them for over two decades.

BTDT... in 1952 or 1953 which installed the Shah. I think it was a special operation for future placement of EW and missile sites. Cold war and all of that...

I’m not sure a rebellion would succeed. But it definitely would be fugly.

Compare that with how Zer0 ignored the Green Revolution and the Iranian killing of protestors.

The overthrow of Mossadegh

On 28 April 1951, the Shah appointed Mossadegh as Prime Minister after the Majlis (Parliament of Iran) nominated Mosaddegh by a vote of 79–12.

The new administration introduced a wide range of social reforms: unemployment compensation was introduced, factory owners were ordered to pay benefits to sick and injured workers, and peasants were freed from forced labor in their landlords' estates

On 1 May, Mosaddegh nationalized the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, cancelling its oil concession (expired in 1993) and expropriating its assets. Mossadegh saw the AIOC as an arm of the British government controlling much of the oil in Iran

The confrontation between Iran and Britain escalated as Mosaddegh's government refused to allow the British any involvement in their former enterprise, and Britain made sure Iran could sell no oil, which it considered stolen. In July, Mosaddegh broke off negotiations with AIOC after it threatened to "pull out its employees", and told owners of oil tanker ships that "receipts from the Iranian government would not be accepted on the world market." Two months later the AIOC evacuated its technicians and closed down the oil installations. Under nationalized management many refineries lacked the trained technicians that were needed to continue production. The British government announced a de facto blockade, reinforced its naval force in the Persian Gulf and lodged complaints against Iran before the United Nations Security Council

The British government had grown increasingly distressed over Mosaddegh's policies and were especially bitter over the loss of their control of the Iranian oil industry. Repeated attempts to reach a settlement had failed, and, in October 1952, Mosaddegh declared Britain an enemy and cut all diplomatic relations

In March 1953, Secretary of State John Foster Dulles directed the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which was headed by his younger brother Allen Dulles, to draft plans to overthrow Mossadegh.

On 4 April 1953, Allen Dulles approved $1 million to be used "in any way that would bring about the fall of Mosaddegh". Soon the CIA's Tehran station started to launch a propaganda campaign against Mossadegh. Finally, according to The New York Times, in early June, American and British intelligence officials met again, this time in Beirut, and put the finishing touches on the strategy. Soon afterward, according to his later published accounts, the chief of the CIA's Near East and Africa division, Kermit Roosevelt, Jr. the grandson of U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, arrived in Tehran to direct it

According to Dr. Donald N. Wilber, who was involved in the plot to remove Mossadegh from power, in early August, Iranian CIA operatives pretending to be socialists and nationalists threatened Muslim leaders with "savage punishment if they opposed Mossadegh," thereby giving the impression that Mossadegh was cracking down on dissent earlier than planned, and stirring anti-Mossadegh sentiments within the religious community

The iranians still remember this - that's why they call the USA the "Great Satan" and the UK "the little Satan" -- any US overtsupport for an overthrow will be bad for the rebels

The US needs to sit this one out or find a way to support the rebels without anyone knowing
