From my limited research, it seems likely that Stapleton will win the Republican primary for the Governor's race, and that he'll almost certainly face Polis in November.
And then Stapleton will likely lose. Polis has a 5 point edge on him in current polling, but I don't know that any of the other Republican candidates have any better chance.
Incidentally, here's each candidate's position on my #1 issue, gun rights:
Walker Stapleton
Supports teachers voluntarily carrying concealed weapons.
Supports repeal of "misguided" 2013 gun control measures limiting magazine size and requiring more background checks.
Advocates increased security at schools and "properly investing in mental health services" to curb mass shootings.
Jared Polis
Supports "our Second Amendment right to use guns for defense and sport."
Wants "to get weapons of war off our streets" and keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers.
Supports a red flag law and would "crack down on illegal gun sales that evade background-check laws."
Notes support as congressman for universal background checks, assault weapons ban and ending a ban on federally funded research into gun violence.
I haven’t seen recent polls but last I heard Cary Kennedy was ahead of Polis. She would not be my choice either but ANYONE is better than Polis. He is the WORST.
As of two days ago, Polis is leading Kennedy by 9 points.
Realistically, I would say all of the Dems are the worst. Each Dem has been advocating for government schools and never vouchers for leaving government schools. The Stapleton R guy is IMHO a GOP establishment person who will have support from the standard routine GOP types. Walker Stapleton does claim to be a supporter of Pres. Trump. In Colorado the GOP is a sad group of out touch clowns. Walker Stapleton may be the best choise. Part of the election depends on how much money will be spent from outside interests. Polis the Dem has got deep pockets. How much money will be spent on the GOP guy may determine who wins the election.
I think it will be Stapleton vs. Polis and I expect the ‘rats to sling much feces. Buy popcorn.
UGH!
Yeah, the state party is “dead” because Ted Cruz won the caucuses 2 years ago, I guess makes sense, if you sniff enough glue.
Dems are over-sampled as the polls are taken mostly in the cities. Therefore the Polis lead is far less and shows it is a horse-race.
I don’t remember that horrible woman’s name, but she was the worst.
When’s the primary for Colorado? Is it this Tuesday?
It is CO; so never get your hopes up.
Polismoker is probably going to win.
Walker Stapleton is “the most conservative candidate who can win”!
Polis can be beat despite his deep pockets.
We need to focus on on beating leftists like Polis.
Don’t dilute support for Stapleton by voting for Never-Trumpers or feel-good Mayors, who the media would kill in the General Election.
“Yeah, the state party is dead because Ted Cruz won the caucuses 2 years ago, I guess makes sense, if you sniff enough glue.”
the state party died when it did everything in it power to pervert the 2016 GOP national assembly nationwide primary delegate vote, launched efforts to join with Dems in a scheme to try to deny Trump his rightful Electoral College votes, persisted with a corrupt insider caucus system that has subsequently been rendered impotent by two recent constitutional amendments that allows everyone to vote in primary elections instead a handful of insiders, nominated a weak putz for Senate in 2016 who should have had a decent chance against incumbent Bennett, but instead flip-floped on a weekly basis as to whether he supported Trump, and now is being run by Cory Gardner, a lying piece of shit anti-Trumper, RINO GOPe favorite.
the death of the GOP in Colorado has nothing to do with Cruz...
That would be a disaster.
The 2016 primaries are ancient history, no ordinary voter is sitting around still thinking about that.

you’re hilarious ... you really are ... make up your mind: is it ancient history or not ... you tell me, you brought it up ...
The poster in post 7 that I was replying to with my initial comment in this thread brought it up and my reply to him or her was sarcastic, as should be obvious by the glue sniffing reference.
Don’t have a high opinion of Colorado Politics.
