The White House Press Corps: Pull their credentials
American Thinker ^ | June 8, 2018 | Earick Ward

Posted on 06/08/2018 9:50:56 AM PDT by jazusamo

The White House Press Corps has jumped the shark and needs to be reined in. While I respect and admire Sarah Huckabee Sanders's work, and I enjoy her ability to spar with an increasingly hostile force, the daily briefings have become about the media agenda and not the White House's agenda.

Having a White House press credential is not a right; it is a privilege. The First Amendment prevents Congress from making any law ... abridging the freedom of speech, the freedom of the press . It does not grant license to media sycophants to drive their agenda in the people's house. For far too long, we've allowed the left free rein. It is time to take charge of the narrative and make it known that we will no longer tolerate the press obfuscating the news.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders needs to make an example of one or more of the Press Corps by yanking their credentials.

In the past week, we have seen at least three incidents where this action was more than justified.

Jim Acosta

In Jim Acosta's most recent tantrum, he attempted to rally the Press Corps to gang up on Sarah Sanders when one of them got cut off. Having abandoned decorum long ago, Acosta appears to want to make these briefings about him and his outlet (CNN)'s agenda.

Not wanting to miss an opportunity to attack our president...

There is no such thing as THE PRESS in the sense that term is used by elitist Progressives today — some sort of elite group whose members are allowed preferential treatment under law.

In the Constitutional sense, “the press” is a technological device for disseminating information. One cannot be a “member” of the press. One can only have access to a press.

Any device which enables one to state and publicize one’s views is a “press,” whether it be moveable type, offset, TV, radio, or the Internet. We all have freedom to access “the press,” meaning we have the right to acquire such devices or pay any provider who wishes to sell us access to publicize our ideas.

In this regard, no CBS anchor has anymore claim to special treatment for being part of “the press” than does any blogger.

“Freedom of the press” applies equally to every citizen seeking to use a technological device to record and publicize his or her opinion.

The so-called "Press" has no more rights under the 1st Amendment than does any Freeper posting on in FreeRepublic.

And no "member" of the "Press" has any sort of right to special treatment by the White House, nor does the "Press" have any rights at all when it comes to being protected from harsh criticism by politicians -- just as politicians have no rights when it comes to being protected from harsh criticism from anybody who has access to a press (i.e. a device for facilitating publication).

I don’t want Sarah Huckabee Sanders to burn out.

She does the best job ever and we should make her job more pleasant to do.

Amen to that. She’s sharp as a tack and always a step ahead of the hecklers.

Yes. Pull their press credentials, and if the rest of them don’t straighten up, cut the briefings to once a week, and then cut them completely if they continue as they are.

If she wasn’t who she is, I’d worry about her jumping to some PR firm any saying to hell with this. But she is a patriot. Plus, I think she rather enjoys being the only grown-up in the room.

Absolutely right.

Some of these so-called journalists have done their best to turn President Trump’s WH press briefings into a circus, it’s time shut them down and take control.

I would like to see a press secretary that changes the whole environment. Require the press to submit questions in writing prior to the briefing. Allow citizens to do the same. Then consolidate the questions, reword to cover the broader set of questions. At the end of the briefing, read the question and then supply the answer. Record and make the briefing available via the web site.

In the era of Trump, why do we continue to do these press briefings the same way they have always been done?

Serious, professional questions only. Civility required.

All silly/gotcha questions should be ignored. Maybe the urinalists will realize that they just wasted their one question.

Urinalists acting like children should be treated as such.

Act out and get a time out. Go sit in the corner wearing your dunce cap until further notice.

Suspend credentials, remove the cameras, temporarily cancel press briefings.

TAKE BACK CONTROL!

What are they going to do? Give us unfavorable press? Write negative stories about Trump? MAKE UP negative stories about Trump? (FAKE NEWS).

Instead of answering questions with “as you know” or “as I said” or “the president believes” blah, blah, blah.

Just say instead “ You know I can’t answer that.” “You already know the answer to that”. (ignoring question) “moving on, next”. “I already answered that”. “Does anyone have a serious question?”.

In some European nations they are passing laws about ‘fake news’. We need to do that in this country.

Make the first offense fairly light; just pull their press credentials for one month with the warning the next time will be one year and one month in jail. The 3rd offense will simply be credentials pulled for life and 5 years in prison.

It will stop as long as it can get by the Supreme Court as not violating a free speech right.

Journalists, or what passes for them now, have a duty to report the news in a non biased way. Talking heads offering opinions are different but they need to say that up front in every broadcast. It is the “opinion” of these talking heads and nothing more.

The WH Press Corp should get one warning then gone on the second offense. There are a hundred others waiting to sit in those spots.

Not sure I agree. As things stand now, the citizenry is regularly reminded that the White House Press Corps (and, by extension, the media in general) is mostly unprofessional dishonest leftist asshats.

The value of this is hard to quantify, but it is not insignificant.

And get rid of the briefing room ... that belongs to a bygone day when the press showed respect and didn’t try to constantly interrupt with things that are petty, untrue, and/or rude. Put the in a room with some biscuits and coffee, then call them into a booth one by one to ask their question, then cut off their mic and video if they are being ridiculous or abusive.

Act like a child and you should be treated like a child!

“White House press condition is not a right; it is a privilege.”

It is a right if one is a member of the Democrat Party Propaganda Ministry, with all the extra-Constitutional and extra-legal rights of an international organization, exempt from observing any United States traditions.)

(In other words, the People’s Revolutionary Movement.)

IMHO
