Queers for Palestine, pro-sharia feminists, legal citizens advocating for open borders – what motivates people to take up such suicidal causes? Who seeks to be ruled by tyranny? To that point, how does one view slavery as liberation? How is it that in the United States of America, free speech has become something to malign? Why do Americans have more empathy toward foreigners than their own countrymen? Why is it considered a moral good to steal from the few to reward the many? In the country that invented freedom, why is libertarianism so rare? Why do Leftists hate liberty?
These are tricky questions to answer, but here are a few items worth considering:
Liberty is difficult to achieve because it requires a system of principles supporting it. Self-ownership is paramount; the individual is best directed when self-directed. Unlike faux-liberals, libertarians practice true tolerance: the ability to work alongside and co-exist with truly diverse peoples. The dutifully liberty-minded recognize the interconnectedness of society, and the significance of their decisions. Such decisions are significant because of the impact they may have on others. Poor decisions make for harsh consequences. For liberty to exist, empathy must persist.
Libertarianism also requires regular and stringent reality-testing. One must adapt to the raw data of lived experience. In economic terms, libertarians are market facing: they are oriented to the needs of others. This means considering how a strategy would functionally work and what benefit it would have for others. All things created equal, if something fails we can reasonably say it didn’t sufficiently meet the needs of the market. Libertarianism is less like a political ideology, and more akin to a pragmatic tool for achieving freedom and equality of opportunity. However, it is not the only method for achieving political ends.
It has been said that the personal is political; if true, we may have an answer to the problems outlined above. In this theory, the personal strife of the individual forms the nexus of their political activism. Often, the challenges an individual must contend with are rooted in their biological and environmental constraints. Given the biological and ecological diversity of man, the civic arena is necessarily dominated by identity politics and special interest groups. With no higher value to aspire towards, political discourse shrinks to the civilization-shattered level of intellectual primitivity.
Women will continue to vote for greater reproductive control, while immigrants (legal and otherwise) will advocate for greater access to social services. Every ethnic and cultural minority will lobby for ever-more government money, because it is in their biological interest to do so. Commitment to the value of liberty is eroded even among its greatest benefactors, a trend which is typified by the emergence of individuals like Richard Spencer.
Ultimately food, sex, social class, and survival are the strongest biological motivators of our behavior. High-minded notions of liberty struggle to compete because people are encouraged to view the conditions of their existence with resentment, rather than gratitude. Every bad impulse is rewarded, and each vice is venerated. Confirmations of prejudice are taken for grand declarations of truth. Success in the future becomes a fool’s errand; there is only the fortitude-melting bliss of the moment.
For Leftists slavery is their great solace. They abscond from moral agency by accepting and glorifying their perceived oppression. They were formed in oppression, and count the oppressed people of the world among their allies. Possessed by a politik of personal identity, they become tyrants themselves. Tyrants loath freedom, for it represents everything that they are not and cannot be. Freedom is incongruent with their childhood experiences, which were likely to have also been heavily tyrannized. These identitarians would prefer to commit cultural (and actual) seppuku than accept dominion over themselves. Consumed by narcissism and hypersensitivity, they are too crippled to understand the needs of others.
And yet there is a logic in their cause: Leftists cannot survive in a free and open market. When true competition is encouraged, their products and ideas fall by the wayside. In a culture of freedom and choice, Leftists suffer an existential question, “How do I get attention when people are no longer forced to stare at me?” Freedom is a severe threat, as they can only live in a prison. They desire to be slaves of the powerful, and to lust after them. Leftists cannot know liberty because they cannot free themselves of these desires. While Liberty-minded individuals fight to be free of centralized power, Leftists being the tyrants that they are, want a total monopoly on power. For these reasons (and likely others), Leftists hate liberty.

I think political affiliation is influenced heavily by personality type. Self-actualized people tend to be entrepreneurial and lovers of liberty.
Those who are exterior-actualized cling to structures and heroes they hope will save them. This leads to depression, despair and more failed wishes for a savior as structures and heroes will often let one down, and one is powerless when one doesn’t take control of one’s life, but looks to others to take care of their needs.
The only thing they’re “liberal” about is spending taxpayers’ money.
Socialists/Totalitarians hate liberty...and there are a lot of them in the republic...and many in government. There are also a lot of ignorant citizens who glom onto the spew.
Because “something for nothing” i.e. “Liberalism,” and liberty are incompatible.

Leftists are fools and cannot survive on their own. They have to live as parasites on the productive class which can live on their own and the left hates them for it.
Well, besides the obvious that they are severely mentally ill, they like to be told what to do, how to live, what to say and think, and they resent those who are not like them. It all goes back to their severe mental illness. This mental illness leftists have cannot be overstated.
It also makes them dangerous. One should never turn their back to a mentally ill person aka all leftists.
Guilt and envy are prime liberal motives.
Envy of wealth — but guilt makes them falsely believe that sharing will make things right and assuage their guilt.
They hate liberty because it gives you the power to challenge them.

Tribalism has had a hold on humans since the beginning. It is the pack mentality. It is Tribalism that is the Holy Grail of the Left. Call it the union of the stooges, the useful idiots and the fellow travelers. I myself, call them the DemonRATS.
In this age we have been besieged by Identity Politics. It is a disguise for something very dangerous. As much as it has been discredited, it is something that refuses to let go of its clutch on human society. Identity Politics is that old obnoxious stench we know as Cultural Marxism. It opposes the elevated status of the individual which has evolved in Western Civilization for the last 1000 years. The system of Tribalism is opposed to the systems operating in an advanced society. It is Individualism that is the basis of our Constitution, the development of Capitalism and the rise of democracy in human society. It is the movement from a classless society to a class system. It is hard to believe that Identity Politics is opposed to the value of Individualism, but that is because it is so good at the disguise.
Marxism believes in the collective and the individual is subservient to the collective. Marxism is derived from ancient belief systems of Tribalism. At the dawn of man, humans lived in tribes, working together for survival in a harsh environment. Individualism did not work well for the group-think. Cooperation of the collective was a mindless obedience needed for the harsh threats of the environment. Primitive man’s archetypal mindset was conditioned to route collectivism. This was the original mode of human beings in their early socialization stages. Man has since moved ahead from his closed society to the pinnacles of achievement. The concept of private-property and Capitalism came about from the rise of agriculture and distribution. Technology and science came about because of individualism which thought out of the box to the new horizon of scientific thought. In that golden age of human thinking emerged the new revolution of Liberty and the emancipation of the individual. Concurrent with this development in Western Civilization was the emergence of Communism in all of its forms. It was a doubling down of the Tribal system where human beings were dominated by the tyranny of the chief and the dominant ruling class.
It is the return to Tribalism that is the driving force of the Marxist Left world wide and Islam. Its use of bullying tactics that is the dead giveaway. The Left denies Natural Rights which are the sovereignty of the individual and the basis of America’s Constitution. It is the use of Identity Politics that seeks to splinter humans in collective groups and play one against the other—divide and conquer. Cultural Marxism is its basis. It is a seductive system because man is naturally at home with a system that demands they live their lives in route unconscious obedience. It seeks to take man back to his ancient past where a ruling elite exists by suppressing the individual under the yoke of the collective tribe.
This is a great thing to know people. When they start talking about this “rights” take them away from them. Always adopt their ideas as great and subject them to it first. For example, gun control. Agree to it that all guns should be turned in and you will turn yours in, after every liberal does the same!
Two words - Personal Responsibility.....
I can recommend a book that will answer your question. It's the HOLY BIBLE. God is the very author of "freedom". Even though He is all powerful He gives us freewill. At the same time, He explains to us through his scriptures that since humans are naturally sinful, self-centered, selfish, etc, it is not possible for us to live a truely happy, peaceful, productive existence without following the simple guidelines He sets forth.
Notice that liberals, progressives, leftists, communists, whatever you want to call them, refuse God's guidelines and dispise Him, most even outright deny He exists. Thus their display of "insanity".
As the scriptures tell us, they are given over to Satan who holds their souls and rules their minds. They will then, even though it defies logic, dispise freedom, because freedom is of God.
