If Obama is guilty we’re back into the land of Comey — and God knows what this cover up would spell out for the Trump administration if discovered. Let’s keep Justice just and prosecute the criminals, even if they are powerful celebrity politicians because they are not as important as the country. Yes, temporary unrest but the country would be stronger once the truth is out.
I agree and actually believe the president would take that approach. However, Congress and the permanent government (bureaucracy) is a different situation. They are programed to take the path of least resistance and avoid risk at all cost.
Based on an anonymous, secret tip, the police start hounding and threatening everyone around you. But hey, says the glass-is-half-full apologist, you are not the "target." We are going after those dirty criminals over there, not you. And we collected evidence all around you, without telling you what we were doing, but don't worry.
My remaining question is how early the intelligence services of our country or "allies" were involved with this.
Interesting. I would call that the backfill theory. Mifsud denies he had contacts with Russians and denies telling Papadop about Russian dirt on Hillary. It could all be backfill to supply some collusion to the Russia election hacking narrative.
If the Russian dirt conversation (Mifsud to Papadop) didn't happen, that easily answers my question about why it happened and the motives of Mifsud and possibly others doing it. That answer would be N/A, because it's all or mostly invented.
The backfill theory is supported by the fact that the FBI never even bothered to interview Papadop until 2017. Same for Mifsud.
Papadop nowhere appears in the Steele dossier.
The FBI was trying to create post hoc justification for what they did during the Trump campaign, and also lay the ground for a special counsel running a shadow DOJ to take Trump down in the “insurance policy.”
So they went back through the old intel and saw the bit Australia had sent them about a months-old conversation Downer had with a young Trump campaign volunteer.
Downer said the Hillary info point was just one thing among various things that Papadop said that Downer passed along to Canberra. Probably was not considered important and that they were more just trying to get what Papadop knew about Trump’s foreign policy positions.
Gowdy’s name should live in infamy.
So far, Gowdy has not really done anything to warrant your post
Have patience

Gowdy destroyed the ‘Spygate momentum’, gave comfort to the enemy, and it was done deliberately. I was being Kind by saying he should Live in Infamy, my real thoughts would get me banned.
For many, even for a ,lot of his supporters, he is an enigma, whom they either project their own wishes or imaginings on, or what they would do onto him.
His enemies and detractors are just as bad, when it comes to any understanding of him.
ME? I get him; though I too have, upon occasion, given him too much credit for a few things, which never did go they way I thought they would!
Many thanks!
Makes sense, although the Papdop connection via long time Clinton friend Downer was probably in the FBI's Crossfire Hurricane paperwork in late July 2016, even if they didn't interview him until 2017. The delay could simply have been because they were more interested in a surveillance operation than a CI operation turned collusion investigation. But the rest of your theory is plausible even if there was an early mention of Papadop in classified materials for Crossfire Hurricane.
Conveniently Mifsud has been on vacation and not able to tell his story in the open.
“compromised”?
“Captured” would probably be more accurate.
In the interview with Martha McCallum, I don’t think Gowdy talked about seeing real documents lately. It sounded like he was just stating his opinion about the FBI and DOJ. At first, it sounded like Nunes trusted Gowdy to view the docs and and advise the House committees. Nunes has been very quiet. Now I am not sure. I would like to think thay Wray and Rosenstein are trustworthy, but I have serious doubts about them. I have more trust in Joe DiGenova, Dan Bongino, and Tom Fitton. The FBI and DOJ are going to have to try a lot harder to earn my trust.
