Gowdy’s fire truck pulled into Fox News Tuesday night for an interview by Martha MacCallum. An able lawyer, the congressman is suddenly on a mission to protect the Justice Department and the FBI from further criticism. So, when Ms. MacCallum posed the question about FBI spying on the Trump campaign, Gowdy deftly changed the subject: Rather than address the campaign, he repeatedly insisted that Donald Trump personally was never the “target” of the FBI’s investigation. The only “target,” Gowdy maintains, was Russia.
This is a dodge on at least two levels.
First, to repeat, the question raised by the FBI’s use of an informant is whether the Bureau was investigating the Trump campaign. We’ll come momentarily to the closely connected question of whether Trump can be airbrushed out of his own campaign — I suspect the impossibility of this feat is why Gowdy is resistant to discussing the Trump campaign at all.
It is a diversion for Gowdy to prattle on about how Trump himself was not a “target” of the Russia investigation. As we’ve repeatedly observed (and as Gowdy acknowledged in the interview), the Trump-Russia probe is a counterintelligence investigation. An accomplished prosecutor, Gowdy well knows that “target” is a term of art in criminal investigations, denoting a suspect who is likely to be indicted. The term is inapposite to counterintelligence investigations, which are not about building criminal cases but about divining and thwarting the provocative schemes of hostile foreign powers. In that sense, and in no other, the foreign power at issue — here, Russia — is always the “target” of a counterintelligence probe; but it is never a “target” in the technical criminal-investigation sense in which Gowdy used the term . . . unless you think we are going to indict a country.

I think something big is coming down the pike, and I don’t think it is good for Trump. The doj/fbi IG report is going to be a nothing burger and the way gowdy, rosenwiesel and the rest are acting, they think they have Trump. With sessions testifying against Trump and Nunes suddenly mia, there is no one left. The deep state is about to go for broke.
Mueller and Company have been unable to cover up the treasonous acts committed by a whole lot of high pollutant officials in this attempted coup, so Gowdy is doing his best to cover for the leadership before the IG report comes out and blows it open, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was part of the attempted coup from the beginning.
Gowdy is compromised somehow. Outright death threat, or blackmail, or honeypot. I’m convinced of it
Gowdy has proved himself to be part of the problem.
Gowdy has created a firestorm of backlash, which puts the spotlight right back on Spygate.
I would imagine his masters are not too happy about that.
I certainly hope you are wrong; if “Republicans” like turncoat Gowdy and idiot Sessions turn on Trump they will turn off 80 percent of the Republican Party and they won’t reconstitute it under the Bush family.

The IG report will be a “FBI messed up” slap on the wrist, and Mueller has zilch. So, the whole thing winds up as a political battle... the left/msm/deep state against Trump and sane people. It will all boil down to who wins the war of words and future elections.
Of course the IG report is going to be a NOTHINGBURGER; however, they don't "have" Trump and NEVER shall "have him", unless he stupidly meets with Mueller and falls for that "trap".
Absolutely NOTHING is going to happen to the REAL traitors and crooks, but that's something that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.
OTOH...Trump is not someone who will be cowed and slink away; he's a fighter, a non-pol pol, the likes of whom NOBODY alive has EVER seen before!

Now it appears Gowdy is “Republican leadership” in the plural.
And they are conflating silence on the part of others who got the HIGHLY CLASSIFIED briefing as agreement with Gowdy.
The traitor Try Gowdy must be punished, somehow, some way. But, alas, he’s not running again. But if he ever runs for another election, anywhere or for any office, we’l be there to haunt him.
Let it be resolved.
