Israel exchanged rocket and cruise missile fire with Iranian forces deployed inside Syria during an hours-long battle late Wednesday, the biggest direct confrontation between the two countries since the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

Responding to a barrage of rockets reportedly fired by Iranian troops at Israeli positions in the Golan Heights, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked nearly all of Iran’s military installations in Syria, an IDF spokesman said, according to the Associated Press.

Targets included a weapons storage facility, logistics sites and intelligence centers used by the Quds Force, the special operations division of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. Also destroyed were several Syrian air-defense systems, which activated against Israeli fighter jets.

None of the warplanes were hit, the IDF said.

I’m sure the President gets good updates, daily briefings, etc.

But Syria is a DOD overwatch, too many moving pieces for the President to get very involved with.

The Daily Caller just needs to report the news.

Not much of a “battle”. Iran lobs a few rockets that don’t hit a thing and Israel responds by taking out all Iran’s assets in Syria. I hope to see more “battles” like this.

“Israel And Syria Clashed In Their Biggest Battle Since 1973 War”

False headline. Israel and Iranian forces clashed, not Syria. They did so on Syrian soil, but the attacks were launch by Iranians against Israel, and Israel responded.

The problem is that down the line people seem to remember the headlines and not the actual facts.

Our local affiliate of the NYT loves to spin the headlines and recruit its leftist readership to respond in their “To The Editor” page, before the fact. I found this out from a local conservative who was asked to react to an upcoming “breaking news” story.

The casual reader never reads the articles, they just react to the headlines.

Not even close to ‘73 unless there are 1000 tanks rolling on Israel.
More like a Israeli cleanup of things they have wanted to do since Gulf War II

Israel is part of western civilization. In fact, without Israel there wouldn’t ever have been a western civilization.

It would have been different, certainly...but in the absence of Israel, the Roman Empire would still have existed.

Perhaps you ain’t noticed that Iran aids/abets/funds terror groups who attack a lot of the civilized world.....Israel defended herself and they are our ally....what’s yer beef as far as this particular story goes?

Hisotrically, one of Israel's biggest problems is every time they get rolling "the West" steps in and bring diplomatic and economic pressure to stop Israel from winning.

What this headline is implying this "the West' needs to wake up and stop Israel from beating up poor little Syria again. What is missing is the fact that Israel is, and always has been, defending itself from external Arab or Persian aggression.

I don’t believe that’s accurate. Operation Mole Cricket 19 was a far bigger deal than this current engagement.

Quite so. Almost a hundred Syrian Migs shot down.

The Greeks and Romans had done pretty well up to that point.

Part of the Greek and Roman was to argue (debate) anything and everything they could.

I'm not saying that the Roman Empire would still exist today, just that the absence of Israel wouldn't have prevented its existence in the first place.

We can thank Jimmy Carter for Iran. We can thank George Bush II for Iraq. We can thank Obama for Libya and Syria. This is what we get for “regime change”. Was the Mideast more manageable in 1976 as opposed to 2018?

Considering it had just finishing fighting 2 major wars that brought the US and Russian on the verge of fighting, NOT it was not.

The Mid East has not been “stable” since 1914.

No one was sleeping. They're bored.

Fighting in the Mideast has become the norm for as long as anyone can remember. Jews kill Muslims, Muslims kill jews, Muslims kill each other and on and on....On and on and on.

Just one EMP over Iran and then we'll see some real fun.

The Iranians will NEVER be allowed to have a nuke. EVER.

One thousand nukes makes you a super power..... one nuke makes you a target.

The Israelis know that the very hour that the Iranians get their hands on a nuke, it's on it's way to the Palestinian refugee camps and then we get to have a real war when it goes off and the press and muslims blame the Jews for attacking the defenseless Palestinians. .
