Health and safety idiocy. Like Americans don’t know maple syrup and honey are SWEET?
Drain the swamp.
Every bottle required to put such labels on should have a banner that says “Note: The FDA is making us lie to you about sugar.”
I recently saw pure maple syrup labeled as 100% organic. I thought to myself that ALL 100% pure maple syrup is 100% organic. It is not like there are guys out in the woods fertilizing the Sugar Maple trees.
Don’t they already have nutritional content labels?
Then Domino and Crystal sugars should have the same label.................
Only a government with An Agenda can be this stupid.
(Did south Florida’s sugar producers make a bunch of campaign “contributions” again?)
Oligarchs and their lackeys are at it again.
depends on the meaning of “added,” which is obviously misapplied in these circumstances.
What is "impure" about beet and cane sugar? They are all plant products with similar concentration processes. What a specious argument.
Every time I see an article about the USDA I become more convinced that most of the people who work there, and 100% of management, are f-—ed in the head.
I guess the Food & Drug Bosses are now going to tell the bees they MUST reduce the amount of sweetner in their honey. It makes one wonder about these great thinkers in the organization. I remember when they were telling the US citizens pepper was a danger to their lives.
I have tried “maple syrup”, labeled as such, that clearly had a lot of corn syrup added. I understand the same thing is done to some honey, especially from China. Those mixtures should require clear labeling. But pure honey? Pure maple syrup? Nope. This is FedGov, as usual, going overboard.
This sounds like a con which the high fructose corn syrup people would support. 100% maple syrup is often replaced by a disgusting glop with HFCS as its primary ingredient. Even in supposedly quality restaurants, this often happens. Aunt Jemima must be rolling over in her grave!
List of ingredients should clear it up.
Maple tree sap.
- as opposed to ones with added sugar:
maple tree sap, cane sugar
maple tree sap, agave
(or anything else)
Mmmmm.....i LOVE Maple syrup.
just bought a new waffle iron and the waffles only take 3 1/2 minutes to cook.
yum
Went up to the White Mountains of NH last month and bought a jug of New Hampshire maple syrup.
verrry delicious..
This reminds me of the guy who produces natural skim milk with no additives. Skim milk is made by separating the fat from the milk, leaving the thin watery stuff that no one likes to drink. The process that removes the fat also removes the vitamin D, so synthetic vitamin D is added back in to the milk. The government considers the milk with the added Vitamin D to be “real” skim milk, and the guy who makes the real original skim milk is supposed to label his as “synthetic skim milk”, even though his is 100% natural.
Not if they are free range trees.
Nanny Government screwing over working Americans again.
