Are There Any Adults Left in Washington, D.C.?

As America approaches her 250th birthday, her instruction manual, the U.S. Constitution, is under assault as never before. The First Amendment is under attack by campus speech police and social media, censoring and deciding which political statements are welcomed and which are verboten. The Second Amendment is threatened by leftist elitists happy to ban guns for the law-abiding as long as they can have armed guards protecting themselves and their families from the criminals who don't give a whit about whatever gun laws the left proposes.

It's not only the Bill of Rights under assault, but also Article Two of the Constitution – specifically, the first section, detailing how a president is elected to a four-year term.

President Donald Trump was lawfully and constitutionally elected to serve as America's 45th president for a term of four years, commencing in January 2017. Unless he is impeached and removed from office, as dictated by the Constitution, for high crimes and misdemeanors, he is entitled to serve through January 2021. If he chooses to seek a second term and the voters re-elect him, he may serve eight years.

This is how our government works: the peaceful transition of power from one president to the next. At least, this is how it is supposed to work and has for the first 44 American presidents.

Instead, we had an outgoing administration, using its vast intelligence and judicial powers to influence a presidential election. Perhaps "influence" is too kind a word, as even an endorsement from the outgoing president is meant to influence. Far better would be a word like "rig" or "fix," deliberately dictating the outcome despite the constitutional process and the will of the people.

We left the Constitution behind on Usurpation Day, January 20, 2009.

NONE of our elected or appointed stood up for our Constitution.

We have one adult in the District of Corruption.
His name is Trump.

the title of this thread begs the question:

Have there ever been (since the Founding Fathers)?

<>Rudy Giuliani is joining the Trump legal team, ostensibly to negotiate an end to the Mueller jihad. That’s great, but will this deal be a grand compromise? Will the deal let the kingpins off scot-free, those with the last name Clinton and Obama, while throwing a few foot soldiers, such as Andrew McCabe or James Comey, under the bus with convictions or even a short stint behind bars?<>

Definition of treason

1 : the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance

The "compromise" can be whether they get a blindfold or a noose.

The definition falls short of the constitution and is irrelevant

under federal law by Article III, section 3 of the U.S. Constitution: “Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.”.

Maybe a few, but for years adult people with childish, ignorant, selfish and greedy minds have been in control.

This country was slowly veering from its founding as soon as it started with political parties and foreign entanglements. Liberalism/Socialism/Communism has rotted America at its core. Clinton, Bushes, 9/11, Obama and this apparent coup by DNC/Clinton/Obama/Soros warped America even more. At this point, Washington DC is useless as founded as are many state governments in the union. I don’t want to give up on Americans but close to half will never agree with real Conservatism let alone the original intent of the Constitution. The feeling is mutual. We live as a country divided.

IMO, you’re off by ~100 yrs.

When Socialism was applauded under the guise of ‘income tax’, ‘SS’ and allowing Wilson/FDR and his like to run rough-shod over the Constitution...

Zero was just the reaping

Oh, NOW you’ve done it ;)

I completely concur...The 1st American tyrant.

The ‘Civil War’ was anything BUT. It was a 2nd War of Independence. One need only read the original Declaration to see it was always an option (break the ties and make govt as they see fit)

They didn’t seek to overthrow Lincoln, just go about their way.

Ft. Sumpter was a mistake, but I don’t see how the North would have let their piggy-bank ‘get away’ from them.
