Forget 'Climate Change' -- Now It's 'Climate Restoration'

In the end, somehow we knew it would come to this. The Left, in the form of the think thank RAND, has gone full Luddite:

Since the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, society has organized efforts to limit the magnitude of climate change around the concept of stabilization — that is, accepting some climate change but holding it within acceptable bounds. This report offers an initial exploration of the concept of climate restoration — that is, approaches that seek to return atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases to preindustrial levels within one to two generations. Using a simple integrated assessment model, the analysis examines climate restoration through the lens of risk management under conditions of deep uncertainty, exploring the technology, economic, and policy conditions under which it might be possible to achieve various climate restoration goals and the conditions under which society might be better off with (rather than without) a climate restoration goal. This report also explores near-term actions that might help manage the risks of climate restoration.

Global cooling, global warming, climate change and now, ta da, climate restoration. SMDH! Just in time for erf day 4/22. Got some tires and diesel all set and ready to fire up in support. Got the Ram all gassed up and ready to crank the hemi up to idle for the day. Lights on standby to help keep us warm and toasty. If they want to join their heroic gay lawyer pal and immolate themselves, have at it. Pre-industrial life? I don't think it was all the enjoyable.

Don’t be surprised if it gets restored back all the way to “Eighteen Hundred and Froze to Death”.

Or worse.

Yeah, now that the climate is getting colder, they’re going to claim credit for it, but insist that “more needs to be done” in the form of wealth distribution to qat chewing savages.

Which preindustrial level, the one that existed in the mini ice age, the medieval warm period, the one during the last ice age...?

What we have here is a Moving Target of Deception!
First it’s too hot, then too cold, then too dry, then too wet. Then there is panic when almost nothing is changing! As in Sun Spots.

The problem with restoration always is...to what point in time? I've seen fishing ponds stripped because that's not the fish that was there 200 years ago. Stupid.

And then there's the invasive plants. We have these gorgeous flaming bushes which are on their hit list. We had one in the 60s. Invasive?? Just dumb.

Whenever some Proggie clown starts lecturing me on sustainability, I start talking about the relative value of workers, birth rates across cultures, and capabilities of various nations to actually save Mutha Erf, and conclude by saying that we need to stop feeding and medicating people outside the developed world if we want to save Mutha Erf. A massive die-off of the “people evolution forgot” is essential to the survival of Mutha Erf.

Q: "What is the temperature SUPPOSED to be?"
A: "Uhhhhhhh. Ya got me. I don't have any idea."

Q: "So, we can just forget about this stupid Climate Change nonsense, right?"
A: "No. We have a solution to the problem, and we don't even have to know what the final result is supposed to look like."

Q: "What's your new solution?"
A: "We all live in caves and survive on nuts and berries and most of us die horrible deaths of cold or starvation."

Q: "How does that solve anything?"
A: "Well, we'd know for sure we weren't messing anything up, wouldn't we? So whatever temperature we ended up with would have to be the right temperature. See?"

in other words, back before capitalism, where life expectancy was 30 years, and people did not have enough to eat and had almost no money. Yeah, that sounds great.

Ah yes.

What if the earth is SUPPOSED to be cycling through climates? Getting at loggerheads with God is bad, no?

One might notice that our biggest fear in the seventies was an ice age. Wouldn’t it be convenient for humanity if a few puffs of CO2 came along to slow that down? Climate has virtually plateaued. The screams about highest temperature yet are about hundredths of a degree, and this is tendentiously “adjusted” to be that much even.

My real and biggest fear is Global Climate Sameness.

We’ll have to fork over trillion$ to prevent the leveling off the climate so that it cools and/or warms.

At some point they'll have to admit they're barking at the wrong country when it comes to air pollution.

And that Pacific ocean garbage patch.

I like to challenge sustainability nuts to demonstrate how it can be done with the City of Los Angeles. First let them bring that city to the point that it no longer needs to import water from Northern California to maintain its lavish lifestyles. When that is accomplished, they can work on San Francisco and other cities that only survive by stealing resources from other parts of the country.
