The Trump administration began outlining a plan Wednesday to deploy National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to fight illegal immigration, but will likely not allow the troops to have physical contact with immigrants, according to three administration officials.
The planning follows an announcement by President Donald Trump on Tuesday that came as a surprise to many of his advisers.
"Until we can have a wall and proper security, we are going to be guarding our border with the military," Trump said on Tuesday.
The plans were laid out in a meeting with senior level Department of Homeland Security officials as well as in a meeting with the White House's National Security Council on Wednesday, according to the three officials. The exact number of troops and how long they will be deployed to the border will be solidified in the coming days, the officials said.
The National Guard troops will not have physical contact with immigrants nor will they be responsible for processing them at the border, one of the officials said. Instead, they will be giving U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents more visibility by providing surveillance by air and through camera monitoring of the border.
Then-President George W. Bush issued a similar policy in 2006, called Operation Jump Start, though a White House official said it is not yet clear how closely the new deployment will mimic that plan.
President Barack Obama also deployed National Guard troops to the border in 2010 to help provide surveillance by air.

Idiotic. Why does anyone need to be “processed”? They need to be repelled and stopped. Anyone caught crossing should be unceremoniously dumped right back over.

Let’s see how long it will take before the Democrats find THEIR judges and make the courts declare this move to secure our borders unconstitutional and give the ILLEGALS constitutional rights to have their claims for asylum heard in our courts!!
Processing them? Every single one will say they are seeking asylum. We need to keep them from crossing over the border. They can go to the American embassy in Mexico and apply there.
In other words, the deployment will be a joke, soldiers doing cleaning, getting coffee, watching, smiling and waving at illegal aliens. Bad move. Put the troops on the border and let them defend the border. No one crosses it unless at a point and through screening by Border Patrol. The military should be told to use whatever force necessary to ensure no one crosses where they are assigned. And to respond with deadly force if attacked, even if by rocks.
This illegal and legal immigration is really is an invasion by foreign socialist hordes.
Democrats passed all kinds of weak immigration laws including the 1965 immigration act.
This is to allow millions of socialist immigrants legal and illegal to move into the USA. The democrat goal is a socialist USA.
Every socialist country turned into a large gulag(Venezuela, North Korea, Zimbawe, etc.). Every government run institution soon turns into a gulag as seen in the government schools.

There is no need to have physical contact. Just make sure the tanks, snipers and machine gun bunkers are visible from the Mexican side of the prime border crossing sites.
Maybe some of us need to be a little more sophisticated and stop calling for shooting people, invading Mexico, etc.
"Processed" is such a wonderful example of sterile bureaucratese.
I suppose one could say that after Stalingrad, the Soviet Red Army "processed" German immigrants who happened to be members of the Wehrmacht. They came into Russia in a big caravan, and General Zhukov managed their "processing."

There is a a law that prevents the military from making arrests within the border of the US. Change the law to protect our border!
It is a bit of hyperbole if you can handle it. The point is we need to defend our border, with troops and, if push comes to shove, with deadly force. The military has a lot of non-lethal options they might consider, which would be good so long as the illegal alien invaders are stopped at the border and do not set foot in America. But if that doesn’t work, sure, use deadly force. If you are not prepared to the military do what they do best, then don’t deploy them
