There is no law about using the military to defend the border and they did so up to around 1918. The law prevents them from policing US citizens and was enacted to stop them from protecting blacks after the civil war.

They don’t need physical contact. A bullet will work just fine.

What are they going to do, just stand there and let them walk past? This is an invasion. Their job is to protect our borders from invasion.

We should post warnings in numerous languages, that entering the country illegally is illegal, and crossing the border may end with a 5.56mm headache.

They can go to the American embassy in Mexico and apply there.

Bingo! 5 star thinking.

Our border gates should open only for legitimate, pre-approved entrants.

If Mexico chooses to open its borders for humanitarian purposes it should deal with the 24/7 waiting lines and congestion (mess) on its side of the entrance to the embassy.

Did anyone watch the last ‘NCIS’ episode? Guess what it was about.

NCIS: The Numerical Limit
Gibbs is granted protective custody of a 10-year-old orphaned refugee when a case reveals she is the target of a violent gang.

How is it that Hollywood was able to create this episode and time it perfectly for this very week of invasion?

Anyone crossing the border should be shot like the invader he is.

If they’re processed they’re in. You’re right. It’s unacceptable. Turn them around and send them back home.

The National Guard does have policing powers, when not federalized.
The governors have the power to employ Guardsmen in policing roles.

In regard to police functions, they would be employed like the Coast Guard, which has police powers and is not considered in violation of Posse Comitatus in its law enforcement.

Guard actions would be like Navy ships carrying Coast Guardsmen to do actual arresting when interdicting drugs.

I think a lot of events are being orchestrated...including Parkland shooting. But we won’t go there.

“Maybe some of us need to be a little more sophisticated and stop calling for shooting people, invading Mexico, etc.”

Under these circumstances, and mindful of the situation this country finds itself in these days, what did you have in mind, Williams?

The National Guard troops will not have physical contact with immigrants nor will they be responsible for processing them at the border, one of the officials said. Instead, they will be giving U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents more visibility by providing surveillance by air and through camera monitoring of the border.

Ridiculous. This is the bureaucracy and hand-wringers slowing down the President. I would use regular Army troops and yes they would "interact" with the "immigrants". I would rather phrase it "repel the invaders"

Bottom line:

If these invaders are allowed to enter, then we are in Obama’s third term. Election 2016 meant zero.

Defense of the border, AT the border, from a foreign invasion is not a Posse Comitatus event. That is most literally what the military is for.

Thats it’s main job.

Does NORAD worry about posse comitatus when they send an interceptor to catch someone crossing our national goal line? Nope...

I don't know. If word gets out that they will be processed at the border, they might stop coming.

"They can go to the American embassy in Mexico and apply there"

Why don't they apply in Mexico? Why isn't Mexico enforcing its borders? How much are these people going to cost U.S. taxpayers for their housing, food, medical care, exc....

Slight correction: we're in the 7th term of Bush I.

RR got rolled on the '86 act. Sort of how Trump was set up with the SC.

The DS puts everything into play; they just need the slightest legal pretense to execute.

RR signs act, the invasion begins. Trump wins, the coup begins.

At some point, it either stops - which is what we expect from Trump - or we acknowledge it was all over back in '88.
