Kadyrov Calls Putin A 'Superhero' Who Should Rule Russia For Life

The Kremlin-backed head of Russia's Chechnya region, Ramzan Kadyrov, says he hopes President Vladimir Putin will remain in power for life.

The remark, not unusual for a regional leader who has frequently praised the president and called himself Putin's "foot soldier," comes weeks ahead of a March 18 presidential election that seems certain to hand Putin a new six-year term.

"I wish our president and supreme commander in chief a long life and hope that he will run our country for life," Kadyrov said in a post on Telegram on February 15.

I think Kadyrov's father was one of the head-honchos in Chechnya's rebel movement. Now, the son, Ramzan is in charge.

If he is a Muslim, he is lying.

The second part of this guy's sentence is likely to come true. Dictators don't just give away their positions.

Unless he's deposed, in which case he'll probably be killed, and then it will have truly been "for life."

Leaving aside the hand-wringing of neo-liberals...Ramzan Kadyrov is an important reason why there was a successful outcome for Russia in Chechnya.

Right. Kadyrov rolls in dough while the rest of Russia languishes and not to mention the political disaster that is Dagestan.

*Pinging* you to this thread as Ramzon Kadyrov of Chechnya is good place to start when it comes to understanding Putin's Islamic cronyism.

* There's much historical background to be learned with regard to Russia's Islamic regions. Some regions are more troubled than others. For example, one can argue that Tatarstan (in Central Russia) is comfortably assimilated to the fold of the greater Russia. While the Caucasian republics of Chechnya and Dagestan, less so, and with civil conflict and bloodshed in wars against the rest of Russian people only going back decades.

** The phases of history can be divided into: 1) Russian empire and the acquisition of territories from Persian and Ottoman Empires. 2) The Soviet period - which brought numerous traditionally Muslim territories in outer Asia into the Russian-fold. 3) The breakup of the Soviet Union and the contested independence and borders of various nations often divided along complex ethno-religious lines.

*** To stifle civil war and retain as much a cohesive whole as possible, Vladimir Putin has gone out of his way to appease certain Muslim powers that be within those high-conflict republics. This has created decades worth of the most outlandish and corrupt levels of cronyism, bribery, fund-sourcing of despotic rulers the likes of Kadyrov in Chechnya, who is rolling in dough. Funds that go to him that somehow never manage to reach the rest of Russia beyond Moscow, which is languishing in poverty and dereliction.

But in Dagestan, there are big problems right now...becuase the money is running out. (Due to sanctions, oil prices, etc...)

What we are seeing now in Daghestan is “a completely Stalinist method of fulfilling the main state task about which no one speaks aloud – the maintenance of the unity of the state formation under the name ‘Russian Federation.’” Without money, “this unity is guaranteed by force methods” - Dmitry Oreshkin

Thanks BeadCounter. That's convincing, coming as it does from one of Putin's puppets.
