A Michigan dog owner was surprised to find out that the state approved his German shepherd for weekly unemployment benefits.
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency sent a letter to lawyer Michael Haddock saying that a Michael Ryder was approved to receive $360 a week in unemployment, reports ABC News.
The only problem is that Ryder is Haddocks German shepherd. The letter claimed that Michael Ryder worked at a restaurant chain in Detroit, Michigan.
Im not sure what hes going to do with the money, Haddock said.

Sparky Jones at our firehouse probably got more mail than Trump. Every card that dropped out was sent back with sparky’s name
“I’m not sure what he’s going to do with the money.”
“shepherd-rich”: bling, bitches and bones?
Nobody involved in the story seems to be interested that there was a nearly complete lack of verification of the dog’s “identity” before the letter was sent out.
What flagged the “claim” as “suspicious”? That he has no SSN? That he had never received a paycheck? That he has no last name?
I get snail mail addressed to Sal A Mander.
Salesmen phone calls, too.
So far, no one has offered Sal money, though.
Dammit.
My dog is also currently unemployed
Where does he apply?
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency sent a letter to lawyer Michael Haddock...And where did Haddock go to school?
I wonder if my dog could collect unemployment...but I bet in Florida I could be arrested for fraud...
No problem, nobody knows your dog's name but you. Just fill out the application with the name "Bob Nevadan" and see where it goes.......LOL!
FWIW, my cat has been receiving SNAP benefits for five years now...........She gets pissed off when I spend them on beer instead of treats.
Here’s the problem. When I take him to the bank to cash his unemployment check, I can’t trust him to respond to the name Bob Nevadan. He’s not that smart. The teller might just think he has assumed a fake name.
“I signed my white German shepherd up for Navy recruitment information back in 1982”
So what ship did he serve on? :-)
