Twenty-eight years ago, the release of “When Harry Met Sally” highlighted one big debate: whether men and women could really be just friends.
That question may still be up in the air, but now we are being forced to confront a more fundamental debate: whether men can really become women.
America is in the midst of what has been called a “transgender moment.” In the space of a year, transgender issues went from something that most Americans had never heard of to a cause claiming the mantle of civil rights.
But can a boy truly be “trapped” in a girl’s body? Can modern medicine really “reassign” sex? Is sex something “assigned” in the first place? What’s the loving response to a friend or child experiencing a gender identity conflict? What should our law say on these issues?
These shouldn’t be difficult questions.
Just a few years before “When Harry Met Sally” hit theaters, Dr. Paul McHugh thought he had convinced the vast majority of medical professionals not to go along with bold claims about sex and gender being proffered by some of his colleagues. And as chair of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Medical School and psychiatrist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital, McHugh put a stop to sex-reassignment surgery at Hopkins.
Once the elite Johns Hopkins did this, many medical centers across the nation followed suit.
But in recent years we have seen a resurgence of these drastic procedures—not in light of new scientific evidence, mind you, but as a result of a growing ideological movement. Such is our transgender moment.
The people increasingly in the spotlight of this moment are children.

In a sane world these insane parents who give thier children drugs that suppress puberty while thier kid decides which sex they are should be put in jail for child abuse.
Let that same dude say he wants his member cut off and the doctor asks for a copy of his insurance card.

I asked a doctor about a particular procedure and he said, (approximately) “Medicine goes through fads just like clothing. Wide ties are in. Wide ties are out. Miniskirts one day and granny skirts the next. It’s hard to separate medical reality from the hype a new procedure gets. It’s best to let these things run their course and not get involved unless you really have to.”
There was a time when thousands of lobotomies were performed. They were used to “treat” just about everything. If there was still a doctor alive who got caught up in that fad, I’m sure he wouldn’t talk about it in public. The same will be true of “gender assignment” surgery. It will fall out of favor and, a hundred years from now, people will be as horrified to read about it as we are to read about lobotomies today.
People who put their children through this need to be imprisoned. Being an adult means not projecting your politically correct fantasies on children and not giving into their fantasies.
I was reading excerpts of a book about a trans that “went back”. He said it was underlying mental issues, but he had bought the lie that becoming a woman would solve all his problems. Sad. BUT - he finally did get the proper mental health treatment after many years.
F-ing media. First it is the appearance of gays on TV to make it seem “normal”, and now it is the Trans with Bruce Jenner, etc.

Oh - by the way. The root ideology I believe is to break down the family, which is the primary component to a moral and well-working society. Break down the family, and the government can step in to solve the problems. Welfare did the trick to break apart the black families. Drugs and culture wars are taking their toll on the whites.

The global depopulation forces have been manipulating us through government, media, and academic influence and massive government, foundation, and Forbes 500 funding for more than two generations. It started with contraception. That was the biggie, the essential foundation: separating sex from procreation. And then separating sex from gender. And finally separating sex from humanity (the sex robots). More effective for purposes of genocide than concentration camps or nuclear war. Used to be the Catholic Church stood almost alone against this crap.

That is not exactly true. There are other combinations of the genes, which are the reason there are actually hermaphrodites.
However, it is highly unlikely that any of the true hermaphrodites are involved in this recent FAD.
Democrats are incapable of counting to 11 without removing their shoes. XX vs XY are more choices than they can cope with. Thus, they invent alternatives.

Yes, XXY or hermaphrodites do exist. But as with XX or XY, those are innate conditions & not a political/social fad as you note.
The goal is to break down all traditional institutions, so that they can be replaced by a totalitarian state made in their image. It is the same game as was played by the Jacobins and Bolsheviks, just that the modern version has realized that these institutions cannot be dismantled overnight by force, but must be undermined gradually over time.
I've read more than once on FR that these people were "really" (I assume that means genetically) homosexual, and that is why they were chosen by homosexual predators.
I find this contention less than persuasive, and I sometimes wonder what underlying value this belief is protecting.
