Posted on 01/10/2018 7:45:44 PM PST by TigerClaws

Travel Advisory January 10, 2018 Mexico – Level 2: Exercise increased caution C

Exercise increased caution in Mexico due to crime. Some areas have increased risk. Read the entire Travel Advisory.

Violent crime, such as homicide, kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery, is widespread.

The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in many areas of Mexico as U.S. government employees are prohibited from travel to these areas.

U.S. government employees are prohibited from intercity travel after dark in many areas of Mexico. U.S. government employees are also not permitted to drive from the U.S.-Mexico border to or from the interior parts of Mexico with the exception of daytime travel on Highway 15 between Nogales and Hermosillo.

Read the Safety and Security section on the country information page.

Do not travel to:

Colima state due to crime. Guerrero state due to crime. Michoacán state due to crime. Sinaloa state due to crime. Tamaulipas state due to crime.

For all other states in Mexico, please see detailed information below.

If you decide to travel to Mexico:

Use toll roads when possible and avoid driving at night. Exercise increased caution when visiting local bars, nightclubs, and casinos. Do not display signs of wealth, such as wearing expensive watches or jewelry. Be extra vigilant when visiting banks or ATMs. Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive Alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency. Follow the Department of State on Facebook and Twitter. Review the Crime and Safety Reports for Mexico. U.S. citizens who travel abroad should always have a contingency plan for emergency situations. Review the Traveler’s Checklist.

The US military needs to make Mexico a free fire zone.

A border wall might be a good idea. Wonder if anyone has thought of doing that?

We need all the wall. Not part of the wall.

There a way to do the wall as part of our Defense Budget?

They lost a few trillion dollars in that budget. Surely we can sneak in 10 or 20 billion.

Do these areas of Mexico include counties in California that have been ceded to Mexico, like the one I fled about 10 years ago when I retired?

Last time I was in Mexico was in 1969 with my Marine buddy who had just returned from a tour in Viet Nam. After our visit, we swore then to never set foot in that sorry, Third World, country again.

The resorts there and in places like Jamaica close off the rest of the country.
That I’ll visit.

Not sure you’re really safe in those resorts. I know someone who was running security for one of those resorts. Don’t wander around outdoors after dark. They have lots of guys patrolling after dark with night vision glasses, fully armed. Guests turn up dead but it’s kept quiet.

Also, in those resorts, there have been some deaths per “doctored” drinks.

This is serious, once upon a time, I’d go to Juarez from time to time, in 2006, the cartel wars hit, human heads were put in a cooler and left outside a police station. No thanks. It was already a dangerous place with these women disappearing or being killed.

This country is a full-blown narco state.

All the more reason we need the wall. It is disgusting and ridiculous that an entire country is taken over by drug criminals. Reporters can't report without getting executed; cops can't do their work without getting ambushed; every politician is bought. A truly disgusting country, and we get their excretory products because they are not willing to improve their economy to provide jobs and education.

Mexico has only 31 states. We have 50. Texas is bigger than any of theirs.

Plata O Plomo should be the motto of Mexico. Silver or lead are the choices.

Definitely looks like they are taking the lead option.

We went into Tijuana back in 1981. Nothing special, kinda reminded me of the South Bronx with palm trees. Back then the biggest danger was DON’T DRINK THE WATER.
