Bozell & Graham Column: Showtime vs. Christianity
Newsbusters.org ^ | December 16, 2017 | Brent Bozell and Tim Graham

The Golden Globe Award nominations have been announced, and once again, the Hollywood judges really know how to find the worst junk to honor. Two nominations went to stay-classy Showtime’s program called “SMILF,” for “single mother I’d like to f—.” The show’s lead actress is also its creator and executive producer. Her name is Frankie Shaw and she says she picked this profane title as a “deliberate” feminist move to take back the sexist phrase “MILF” from “male objectification.” Try deciphering that one.

Obviously, (CBS-owned) Showtime executives also designed it to nudge people to click on it because they know it’s going to be dirty, or as the critics call it, “a raw, honest look at the life of a 20-something single mom.” Shaw said “If it offends you, don’t watch.” That’s also a soundbite designed to sell the program to Showtime’s subscribers.

The feminist site Refinery 29 hailed Shaw’s lead character Bridgette as “TV's Most Important New Character.” One of Shaw’s dominant themes is her character suffering sexual abuse by her father when she was a child. Another is a serious – and predictable – loathing of religion, specifically Christianity.

When the show debuted a few weeks ago, in the first few minutes viewers watched her character Bridgette yelling at Rafi, her baby’s father, for saying a bedtime prayer with their three-year-old son. “Knock it off....there’s no praying in this house!” In the second episode, she’s at a group rehab session, and when they say the Our Father,” she protests by saying “Our Mother” and closes the prayer with “A-women.”

But the real delight for Hollywood came in the fourth episode, when Bridgette’s mother, Tutu, suggested a prayer to the Virgin Mary. “Mothers cannot be virgins,” lectures Bridgette. “Mary was forced to have that baby....Matthew and Luke and whoever did some stuff to her...And then called it an angel baby.... Now we're all stuck praying to this ‘angel baby.’”

In other words, Mary was raped by the Gospel writers, and Jesus was just an illegitimate result worthy of no one’s adoration.

There’s more. Bridgette’s mother, the character fighting back with “That’s the mother of God you’re talking about,” is played by.....Rosie O’Donnell. What a cosmic joke. It’s the same comedian who yelled that “radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America.”

In the latest episode, Rafi is upset and struggling to avoid relapsing into alcoholism, so he goes to a Catholic church to talk to Father Eddie. As he pours out his sorrows, Father Eddie kisses him passionately right there in the pew, because that’s what priests do in church.

There’s some leftist politics, too. Shaw creates a diner scene where her character can express amazement for her high-school history teacher who burned their textbooks and taught instead radical leftist Howard Zinn’s book “A People’s History of the United States.” That episode began with an on-screen quote from the latest leftist/atheist comedian George Carlin: “That's why they call it the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.”

This show might seem like unwatchable, blasphemous garbage to the average American, but that never stops the Hollywood Left. It could win some Golden Globes, and Showtime is so delighted it has already renewed it for a second season.

Cowards wouldn’t dare make a hit piece on Islam.

Some of these people are so ignorant, it makes your head hurt to try to understand their logic.

MILF is about as degenerate a term as I have ever heard.

It was first coined to reference married women with children a guy would like to screw, evidently behind their husband’s back.

Never-mind one of those women would be the mom of the person using the term.

MILF, SMILF, it’s just a really crass term that objectifies women in a disgusting way. BTW, I’m a person that generally runs from the word “objectifies”. In this instance, it’s lock solid.

Tell me you’re interested in joining with a woman to help her raise her kids, I’m on board. Otherwise, don’t address them. Why reveal to everyone what an absolute ass you are?

Anyone who allows their children or teenagers to watch this cr*p are really satanists and want to destroy every natural instinct and natural desire in their child. But if they grew up watching TV, they don’t have much of an intellect to start with.

The culture has been toxic for decades now-—the “music” since “rap” and yet so-called parents don’t care what cr@p goes into a child’s brain anymore if they allow their children into the toxic public schools—and they worry about their bodies when their minds are being destroyed.

The endgame of the Deep State has always been to destroy the Natural Family like in the Brave New World and 1984 (their game plan) and destroy, as the Communist Manifesto stated, all biological connections which means all natural desires in little children and reason has to be ERASED. The bond of mother/father and child needs to be destroyed. It is spelled out for us-—but everyone who is hooked onto tv/movies/music doesn’t get the endgame or so far gone, they are mindless—just addicts controlled by outside (materialism).

Their weaponized vile “culture” which includes total control of all public schools and the “health” system, and the minds (worldview) of all children with Common Core, Goals 2000, Race to the Top, will create people with one godless, irrational, warped worldview and artificial desires created and weaponized by satanists (Marxists)—who have controlled MSM and the entire culture since the 50s to create their “sexual revolutions” to kill Christian worldview and “kill God” in America, just like they did to Europe earlier with their Marxist/Socialist system of mass indoctrination (controlled information/textbooks/major art).

Off topic, but Billy Graham's oersonal wealth is around $25 million, and Franklin's at least $3 million.

Those who have been blessed with wealth must share generously with the poor (Matthew 25:31-46) and avoid “greed” (Luke 12:13-21).

Jesus said to his disciples” …it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

“No one can serve two masters….You cannot serve both God and money.” (NLT, Luke 16:13).

Funny; people tend to ignore this when they criticize Joel Osteen for his millions.

Osteen stopped taking his 200 thousand dollar salary from the church years ago. He makes his money from his book, etc.

I don't agree with his 'prosperity' preaching entirely, of course, but he is watched by over 7 million people world wide weekly, and he does do a lot of good by leading people to Christ and helping the less fortunate. He is unfairly treated by many for his money while the Grahams are excused

On a side note, I just got a Fire TV stick w/remote. Amazon offered a few freebies after purchase, one being a free trial to Amazon’s Showtime channel. Showtime is really pushing this series, and another, ‘The Chi’. What’s infuriating is one or the other, but mostly ‘SMILF’ previews before EVERY. SINGLE. MOVIE/SERIES. To add insult to injury, apparently you can’t skip or fast forward through the preview...forced to watch. So far, doesn’t seem that Showtime allows viewer to skip the preview & I haven’t figured out a way to do so. Maybe it’s just me, & I’ve tried everything to skip the preview. No other problems controlling playback - remote works perfectly... except during previews. Is Showtime forcing viewers to watch previews of ‘SMILF’?
