Judge warns Mike Flynn to cooperate with prosecutors for lighter sentence
washingtonexaminer.com ^ | 12/1/17 | Steven Nelson

Contreras told the former Marine general that prosecutors will request less punishment than sentencing guidelines recommend “if and only if” he provides substantial assistance “in the prosecution of another person.”

Court documents released after the hearing say prosecutors anticipate a prison sentence of between 0 and 6 months and a fine of between $500 and $9,500.

When will Mueller, Obama, and the Clintons be investigated for the selling of our uranium to Russia and Hillary for the dossier?

Obama undermined Bush and met with Iraqis before he was even elected. McCain routinely meets with opponents of Trump overseas. Pelosi met with foreign leaders to hurt bush.

Logan act is a dead letter. And i do not believe anyone has ever been prosecuted under it all the way back to colonial days.

How the hell did we get here? Well, it was predictable. We are here because Robert Mueller is, was and will continue to be the Deep State’s agent to affect a coup d’etat.

Someone answer me a simple question. Where the hell was the original probable cause to justify this investigation in the first place?

Now, in America, the new standard is this. Dig up some charge, any charge and bring it against your political enemy. Then, call for an investigation even though you don’t have any evidence “at this time.” Better yet, point to denials of wrongdoing as evidence of wrongdoing. Then, investigate and find the crime. Show me the man and I will show you the crime, Stalin used to say. Now, that is the new state of the law in the United States of America.

This was supposed to be about the phony charge of Trump colluding with Russia during the campaign to release e-mails harmful to Hillary Clinton. So we are now here where a member of the Trump transition team was asked to do what every transition team was asked to do before and will be in the future.

Flynn lied and was fired. He has now been charged for that lying because he lied to the FBI. Wonderful, a perjury trap. Tell us what we want to hear or we will make you.

But what is most enraging in this is the Mt. Everest criminal activity of those in the Deep State and those in the Clinton machine that will forever go unchallenged. Surveillance and unmasking of private citizens, big deal. A phony dossier, bought and paid for by a political party to justify using the levers of power to spy on the opposition, big deal. Selling a strategic asset for kickbacks, no big deal. I could go on and on.

This is akin to me witnessing a murder, the murderer getting in his car and speeding away. I run across the street to get the license plate number of the murderer. The police show up and arrest me for jay walking because they don’t like my political party. They have no interest in the license plate number because the murderer was a democrat.

This is the criminalization of the opposition. This is a declaration of civil war.

Why did Flynn plead guilty and agree to these terms?

Why did he not fight this?

What was he promised?

If you make a deal with the devil you always lose.

Will Flynn agree to commit perjury to save himself? That seems to be the point of the story.

Michael Thomas Flynn is a retired United States Army Lieutenant General, not a former Marine general. MORONS!

I was thinking if this guy is a Marine, he’s a disgrace to the Marine Corp.

I’m starting to think that the FBI has too much authority.

OMG - only now?? The FBI, CIA and NSA are the most politically corrupt agencies there are. They are a big part of the swamp and deep state destroying the Republic - despite their and the media's claims they are simply professional, neutral bureaucrats. Dealing with the highest level of secrets, monitoring and prosecutorial power by definition makes them highly political. It was first the "war on terror" and then Obama's cronies brought them to the wretched state they are in now.

Their budgets should be cut by a significant amount, and a policy of decimation should be instituted. If one senior official is found to be involved in politics, the whole agency should suffer. Also, Congress needs to grow a pair and cut these agencies down.

The Logan Act - that’s that law from 1797, which has never been used since that time, right?

Question... was Ike’s meeting with Synghnam Rhee in Dec 52 a violation of the Logan Act? He was still a private citizen yet he discussed his plans for ending the Korean War with the Pres. of Souty Korea who did not approve of them. He likely shared these plans with leaders of the nations fighting with us and likely contacted leadership in the USSR as well.

Per Andrew McCarthy, Flynn did NOT violate the Logan Act.

It is completely NORMAL for a transition team to discuss events and outcomes with foreign powers.

“In fact, the Russians agreed to change their tactics at the UN because of an agreement with Flynn and his Trump contacts, before Trump was sworn in, that’s against the law, the Logan Act.”

Andy McCarthy disagrees with you:

“There was nothing wrong with the incoming national-security adviser’s having meetings with foreign counterparts or discussing such matters as the sanctions in those meetings....That, however, is exactly the sort of thing the incoming national-security adviser is supposed to do in a transition phase between administrations.”

Ike disagreed with Truman and Rhee and wanted to end the war. Ike had been briefed by Truman and Acheson before he went. Truman later called his visit a “piece of demagoguery” because Ike spoke his mind while he was there and met with our military leadership.

Regarding the Logan Act, Ike didn’t negotiate with Rhee, he met with him to learn of Rhee’s views and then sent Rhee a letter with Ike’s intentions.

So there was no negotiation or any agreements, just statements of opinion from both sides. Perfectly OK.

Yes and no.

The problem for Flynn, is that action was taken by the Russians as a result of his request.

When you agree with a foreign agent and action is taken, action that is contrary to US policy, you violate the Logan Act.

Had the Russians not acted until Trump was President, no harm, no foul.

All of this is about timing.
