McConnell just got a bunch of Trump's judicial nominees confirmed in one week

While the first week of November was a banner time for special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation and the Republicans' proposal to cut taxes, an item that could affect the nation for decades flew under the radar.

Last week, Senate Republicans were able to confirm four of President Donald Trump's judicial nominees for lifetime positions on circuit courts, in addition to one more to a district court post as a part of the president's unprecedented judicial blitz.

Those who were confirmed included Michigan Supreme Court Judge Joan Larsen to serve on the US 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, conservative Notre Dame law professor Amy Coney Barrett to serve on the US 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, University of Pennsylvania law professor Stephanos Bibas to the US 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals, Colorado Supreme Court Judge Allison Eid to the US 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and attorney Trevor McFadden to serve on the US District Court for the District of Columbia.

Seizing an opportunity to move forward on reshaping the federal court system to a more conservative bend, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell worked to confirm the judges in rapid-fire succession, in a week that experts said was incredibly rare and drew the ire of Democrats who believe Republicans are being hypocritical in the confirmation process and not providing ample time to vet the candidates.

A week like that only happened twice in the past three administrations Carl Tobias, a University of Richmond law professor and expert on judicial nominations, told Business Insider in an email that four such confirmations to circuit courts in a single week is "very rare."

"That never happened in

Agreed. Filling all the empty positions is a start. Replacing any conservatives who want to retire with other conservatives is necessary.
Breaking up the 9th circuit to create two or three regional courts and filling THOSE with conservatives is a good idea.

I too am a worried man. Yes, they have blown it and the year is OVER. They will not advance at all on the tax legislation but will instead argue it to death amongst themselves.

Subtle things behind the scenes have changed but the long awaited forceful swing we voted for will not happen.

We will continue to suffer under barky care and if not totally that we will see little change in the cost of health care. It will continue to be unreasonably and unattainably expensive.

We will not see the needed and rational competitive tax reform we need to revitalize the nation. Instead we will have to settle for the better than nothing half-measure of temporary regulatory reform.

We may see a stronger military that gets some much needed new equipment but at a glacial pace.

I appreciate the effort. But, as soon as the Dims have at least 50% of Congress and the VP tie breaking vote they will eliminate all procedural rules in both houses that prevent strict majority controlled proceed to pack the courts.

Current Federal Bench Vacancies:

Total Vacancies:144
Total Nominees Pending:46

So five is a drop in the bucket.

Unfortunately, most people’s memory is very short. Obambi, with very little opposition, STUFFED many Federal Benches with Leftists Creepozoids. Especially the D.C. circuit which oversees all things Federal. That is how Trump’s Executive Orders get challenged, by Creepozoids suing in Creepozoid Courts. One bit of good news, the idiotic Senate ‘Blue Slip’ tradition may finally be trashed, so Creepozoids like Al-hole Franken cannot block great candidates for the Federal Bench.
