McConnell just got a bunch of Trump's judicial nominees confirmed in one week

While the first week of November was a banner time for special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation and the Republicans' proposal to cut taxes, an item that could affect the nation for decades flew under the radar.

Last week, Senate Republicans were able to confirm four of President Donald Trump's judicial nominees for lifetime positions on circuit courts, in addition to one more to a district court post as a part of the president's unprecedented judicial blitz.

Those who were confirmed included Michigan Supreme Court Judge Joan Larsen to serve on the US 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, conservative Notre Dame law professor Amy Coney Barrett to serve on the US 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, University of Pennsylvania law professor Stephanos Bibas to the US 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals, Colorado Supreme Court Judge Allison Eid to the US 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and attorney Trevor McFadden to serve on the US District Court for the District of Columbia.

Seizing an opportunity to move forward on reshaping the federal court system to a more conservative bend, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell worked to confirm the judges in rapid-fire succession, in a week that experts said was incredibly rare and drew the ire of Democrats who believe Republicans are being hypocritical in the confirmation process and not providing ample time to vet the candidates.

A week like that only happened twice in the past three administrations Carl Tobias, a University of Richmond law professor and expert on judicial nominations, told Business Insider in an email that four such confirmations to circuit courts in a single week is "very rare."

"That never happened in

Apparently to the Left even confirming one nominee is "going too fast" and causes mass hysteria because these aren't the 'right kind' of judges - they may actually look at a statute and the Constitution when rendering their decisions instead of what they personally feel the law should say.

I've read in several places now that Trump has nominated and had confirmed more judges to date than any other modern president at this particular point in their presidency - that includes Reagan.

The MSM continues to focus on bread and circus but Trump is getting a lot done behind the scenes. His recent 12 day trip to Asia was historic but barely mentioned, hardly even mentioned here on Free Republic for that matter.

A drop in the bucket. Every single judicial vacancy must be filled while the Republicans still control the Senate. If Chuckie Schumer becomes Majority Leader then no Trump nomination will ever make it to the floor for a vote.

Yes, Trump accomplished more practical business deals in East Asia to help MAGA in 12 days, than previous 12 presidents combined. North Korea was just the paper wrapping shining object, the real substance was underneath.

no Trump nomination will ever make it to the floor for a vote.

Correction: no CONSERVATIVE Trump nominee will ever make it to the floor for a vote. Only liberal/mushy republican nominees might make it through.

I am a worried man.

The Senate Republicans have utterly blown it this year. If they had revoked Obamacare in January and then passed a tax bill with real tax cuts and simplification of the tax code then they would have guaranteed Republican control of the Senate for years to come. Now they may not even keep control until the election next year.

Trump is remaking the federal judiciary, although as usual, not according to the timetable set by FReepers.

Just hate to have to give Yertle credit for any of it.

Yertle figured out that he could have a one-off week and placate the critics for a long time. Let’s not be fooled folks, the Turtleman is still footdragging as much as he can get away with.

Our house is burning down and Turtleman is casually tossing a few buckets of water on the fire whenever he gets around to it.

I really have no use for McTurdle, but if he did, in fact, help this process along, good for him.

Hey Mitch, if you're having trouble figuring out what happened, it's called leadership.

What you have posted is true.

So President Trump and McC appear to be at war on some issues while getting us more good judges.

Strange world we live in.

Now, if Moore has any sense, he would at least mention (and praise) this in one of his tweets.

After all, Mitch is going to have to learn to get along with him, somehow.

:)

President Trump is using the distractions to take care of business. It has become apparent that the “media” are like cats, and will follow the laser dot where ever it goes ignoring everything else.

President uses this to his advantage. When ever he wants to do something and not be noticed he tweets something that outrages the media and off they go while he continues to work behind the scene. A genius.
