Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Sunday it's time for Iranian "foreign fighters" to leave Iraq, now that Islamic State militants are nearing defeat.
"Iranian militias that are in Iraq, now that the fight against Daesh and ISIS is coming to a close, those militias need to go home," Tillerson said during a press conference in Saudi Arabia.
"The foreign fighters in Iraq need to go home and allow the Iraqi people to regain control," the former CEO of Exxon Mobile said.
Tillerson was in Saudi Arabia to attend a launch meeting of the Saudi Arabia-Iraq Coordination Committee. The Saudis are seeking to woo majority-Shiite Iraq out of Iran's orbit.

“The iranians have won and will dominate the area for the forseeable future.”
Nothing is permanent, especially not in the volatile Middle East. The Iranians have several weaknesses and challenges to their rule.
Number one is the Iraqis. The Shia in Iraq want to be the boss. There is a dragon’s horde of riches in the oil fields of Iraq, and many of the locals are bold murderers who will seek to be on top of that horde. A lot of the Iranian surrogates in Iraq are mainly just trying to use Iranian backing to advance their own power in Iraq. There is no honor among thieves.
Tillerson’s comments would have been more meaningful if they were made in Bagdad rather then Riyadh.
What in the Wide World of Sports would make you think Israel doesn’t have nuclear bombs!?
Way to go TEX Tillerson. That will really persuade Iran and its minions to leave Iraq, double time.
Nice shootin’ Tex. Unfortunately you missed the right target again.
Gee, I’m beginning to miss John Kerry already. /sarc, double sarc and a barf
ISIS is finished - the press chose NOT to notice...
Officially, Israel doesn’t have nuclear bombs and they don’t go through inspections. If we want Iran to reject nuclear bombs, why is it okay for Israel to have them?
I hope the globalists and jingoists volunteer themselves instead of sending other parents’ kids. The people who think being there is a good idea should all be drafted and sent over regardless of age. That’s the way this should be fought. Let the loudmouths lead the charge.
Israel is not a state sponsor of terrorism and Iran is the largest state sponsor of terrorism. Israel is also our best ally in the middle east.
all foreign fighters should leave - especially US govt employees.
We have no business squandering lives & treasure over there
I don't have enough inside information to say who our best allies and worse enemies are. I'd be less doubting of that if there were any evidence that (1) they were front and center annihilating ISIS and (2) they acknowledged that Assad is the elected leader of Syria, a sovereign state. I'm also uncomfortable that they keep building settlements in areas where Palestinians live.
Palestinians aren’t even a thing, they’re Jordanian, Syrian, Iraqi, Egyptian, etc. It’s a made up people to fight Israel. When interviewed they are asked what would take it for there to be peace and they’ve said there can’t be until Israel is pushed into the sea.
You can’t reason with madness and on these boards, if you’re going to back terrorists etc, I expect you’ll get a lot of flack.
Trump and Tillerson (maybe Israel, too) got Saudi Arabia to assist with rebuilding Iraq. Trump win fer sher.
LOL good one. read the kurds blew up a bridge to keep iranian backed Iraqis out of their area. I’m thinking the alliance with Iraq will give us a place to go after Qatar goes with Iran.

He asked ‘em nicely. He said bipity bopity boo. Now they’ll turn into pumpkins at midnight, so they better scram./s
Abandoning our Kurdish allies is a win for our Iranian enemies

I read your posts about Israel. Here are a couple of good articles:

As for what will happen? God always keeps His promises and those promises come with conditions. Until the conditions are met (by the recipient of the promise) the promise cannot be fulfilled. Israel practices pre-born child sacrifice (abortion) as do all nations in the world but 5, so lots of promises are going unfulfilled, but consequences will be enacted.
Here is the original land promised Abraham.
Well, God warns people decades before they are invaded. :)
Hah. The time for that statement and putting bones behind it was in 2009, and Obama decided to leave everything to Iran’s chosen stooge, Maliki. Why? It was one of his blood money payments to get the nuclear arms deal with the Mullahs of Tehran. The other such payment was to leave Syria to Iran and Russia.
Its too late now. That boat has already sailed and no government in Iraq is going to end it now. After being torn apart by their own internal sectarian feuding and then ISIS, and with Iran sponsored militias nearly as strong as the formal Iraqi military, it is likely Iran could militarily walk right in and take Iraq at this point.
I wonder what some of our “end timers” would say to that.
Thanks huldah1776.
God, the Middle East is always more complicated than first appears. My only worry is we get caught up in a nation building exercise trying to placate all players.
