So many great roles as the pretty much perfect supporting actor.
Although the movie was hardly great in any way, really enjoyed his role as the figure skating coach in The Cutting Edge. Even appeared all the way back in The Heroes of Telemark.

Great actor. Loved him in the Peter Hall/John Barton production of
The Wars of the Roses (the TV adaptation).

He also played the role of ‘Father’ on the TV series Beauty and the Beast, with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton.

Would love to feel sad, but I never heard of him. I think he is one of those character actors whose face, or voice, you would remember; but, not his name.

Wonderful actor; wonderful guy. He often hosted events at my private club in the 80s and 90s. Hilarious storyteller!

Nor had I, but in looking up his film history he played Leopold Mozart, Wolfgang's father, in Amadeus. That role and his face I remember well.

When you read an obituary like this, all that comes to mind is: “Congratulations on a life well lived.”

He narrated all of the Game of Thrones audiobooks. He did quite a good job too.

He was excellent on that tv series Beauty and the Beast. I will always remember him for that role. He was a consummate character actor, earning him the title: “Order of the British Empire”.
One of his daughters, Karen, played “Jane Banks” in “Mary Poppins” and, years later, played a maid on the original “Upstairs, Downstairs” series. His other daughter, Michele, married another good actor, Edward Woodward OBE, known for the tv series “The Equalizer”.
