No, NYT Columnist, These Nine Things Won't Stop Future Mass Shootings

Well, if peddling North Korean propaganda wasn’t bad enough, The New York Times’ Nicholas Kristof had a laundry list of things he thinks could stop another mass shooting in America. He admits that there is no magic wand that can be waved to solve this supposed problem. He’s right. Yet, he lists things that would not have prevented 64-year-old Stephen Paddock from killing 58 people and wounding nearly 500 more in Las Vegas. Yet, Kristof, like other liberals, places emphasis on the cumulative effect these (ineffectual) policy suggestions would have in the long term. Government already screws up royally on policy; it’s even worse when they pass bills to just make it look like they’re doing something (via NYT):

Thanks Matt. But, as we are once again witnessing, #onlygunviolencematters. Inanimate objects need to be controlled lest they sneak off and perform heinous acts. Meanwhile, the spineless gopE CONgress assclowns cave like a sand castle in an incoming tide. As usual. Guess it's time for round 2 of contacting my "representatives". I use quotes since they don't seem to REALLY represent me.

Everything the government does has some up side, and some downside. It is terrible policy and practice to pass something, anything in the “hope” that it *may* help at some point in the future. All you have is downside. It is a gamble, and one that common sense and past and present experience says will not work. In short, agenda driven idiocy. Which makes this kind of person the worst kind of political opportunist.

The use of bump stocks was probably more to induce panic in the crowd. The perp would probably been more lethal just squeezing the trigger semi-auto.

911-2 Vegas Attack

911 part 2 was an Islamic ISIS terrorist attack.

Gambling money laundered possibly arms dealing profits.

FBI deep state lies. 4chan will have too do the detective work. Antifa papers were everywhere.

Wrong on all 9 counts. A human chose to murder others. Someone did not have a value system that forbade murder of innocents. Someone did not have a conscience that told him that this was wrong.

The left has systematically eliminated all value systems and sabotaged consciences by pushing atheistic materialism on the people. That is the main reason for the murders.

Once upon a time, there was this human affect called “shame.” It is rare nowadays. It used to prevent most people from doing outrageous things. Didn’t work all the time, but it was a damned lot better than what we have now.

21 years old. Okay, Paddock was way older. I can understand the concern with some of these evil murderers being under 21 but they don’t need to be the one purchasing it to kill. Then child accidents from guns are way less than drowning in a swimming pool or children in a car crash.

When I see the political response to a shooting like this (Quick! Pass a gun law!), I am reminded of the old Mark Twain joke about the ship in a storm.

The crew beg the Captain to pray for them!
He replies: I ain’t been in a church in thirty years! I don’t know how to pray!
Crew; “Well do SOMETHING RELIGIOUS!”
So the captain took up a collection.

Hmmm. I suppose the harvey whinesteen rule could be inserted here. “I came of age in the 60’s and 70’s and it was different then.” Guess what. I “came of age” during the same era and somehow I managed to maintain a postive moral compass anyway. Weird huh? But, it looks like this guy has always been off kilter his entire life. Maybe the autopsy will reveal something. His lack of a traceable past reminds me of someone. Surely you know the guy. You know, nobody remembers him from college, no past girlfriends, records are sealed.....

Yup. Vegas shooter either adhered to every one of those proposals or had trivial legal alternatives.

For those fixing on the guns, ask why they won’t address these solutions:

First, stop fixating on “gun”. You’re immediately ruling out any life-saving issues that don’t involve guns. You’re also ruling out any gun-involved solution that doesn’t involve “controlling” guns. The problem isn’t the tool, it’s the heart.

Find out why counties with the _highest_ gun ownership rates have _zero_ murders. It’s in part because the odds of encountering a would-be assailant on any given day is small; NYC improved a lot when petty criminals were aggressively removed from society (under the “broken window” policy). It’s also because good people can fight back - would-be assailants think twice when odds are good they’re not going to survive (whether or not the bad is armed).

Make serious inquiries about the correlation between mass murders and psychoactive medication. Nearly all such incidents involve perpetrators on antidepressants - drugs which are advertised & prescribed with “may cause violent or suicidal thoughts” warnings.

Keep violent criminals in prison. If society can’t trust someone with a gun after a conviction, don’t let them into society where they can easily get a gun (illegally).

Restore constructive social values. Naturally-aggressive men are less likely to abuse others when channeled into productive activity. Funding sloth via productivity-suppressing welfare (i.e.: here’s free money, so long as you don’t work and don’t care for a family) leads to a lack of psychologically-vital struggle, fulfilled by criminal violence.

Finally, restore “sanctity of life” as a core social tenet. Promotion of abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, etc all contribute to viewing lives in general as expendable. Celebration of death in movies, music lyrics, etc contribute as well.

Gun control laws are about punishing politically incorrect thinking. Pure and simple. They have absolutely nothing to do with guns or public safety.

Libs want all these gun-related laws and regulations passed to keep innocent people from being killed.

Maybe there should be a law against murder. Oh... wait...

I was reading today on Facebook Joe Kennedy III of the infamous Kennedy crime family berating guns, NRA, calling for more laws. So I posted this on his page:

“When your cousin murdered Martha Moxley and got away with it for 30 years because he’s a Kennedy or your uncle Ted Kennedy purposely allowed Mary Jo Kopechne to drown in that car because he didn’t want to be caught drunk, could both of them been prevented from committing those murders if more laws were passed making murder even more illegal? Then why the F do you think passing more gun laws will do the same for mass shootings?

http://www.dailywire.com/news/7441/7-statistics-you-need-know-about-black-black-crime-aaron-bandler "Blacks are 10 percent of the population in Los Angeles, CA, but commit 42 percent of its robberies and 34 percent of its felonies. Whites make up 29 percent of the city's population, and commit 5 percent of its robberies and 13 percent of its felonies."

"In New York City, blacks committed "75 percent of all shootings, 70 percent of all robberies, and 66 percent of all violent crime," despite only composing 23 percent of the population..."

Crime's a dangerous occupation.

Violent Criminals would be safer if their victims were unarmed...

Democrats push for gun control and the disarming of potential victims - are they protecting their criminal base?

When the left says “universal background checks” what they really mean is National Gun Registry, to track who has what.

They would then use it to tie individual gun owners to “prohibited thought” and other false charges to justify taking their arms.

Paddock was able to assemble his deadly arsenal because he was RICH. The only cure for this kind of thing is to take all the money away from rich people!

I’m still wondering by what moral absolute the Left thinks murder is wrong, since most seem to be anti-faith and in favor of abortion. Except for muzzies, of course.

They are all missing the obvious point:

These acts are spurred on by the media coverage. This is almost certainly a “copycat” like the Port Arthur massacre.

Once the media stopped pushing mass murder to get gun control in Australia, the shooting mass murders dropped off.

The media is the problem, not the NRA or gun owners.
