A group that backed Republican Roy Moore in Alabama’s contentious U.S. Senate primary said a super PAC aligned with Majority Leader Mitch McConnell “wasted millions” trying to defeat Moore.

The Senate Leadership Fund spent $9 million in the race on behalf of Sen. Luther Strange.

Ed Rollins, lead strategist for the Great America PAC backing Moore, said the Senate Leadership Fund can “atone for this mistake” by providing Moore with the same level of financial support as he faces Democrat Doug Jones in the general election. …

Yeah, Mitch McConnell’s Senate Leadership Fund will certainly provide that same level of support to Moore — as certain as the possibility that the sun won’t rise next until 35 hours have passed.

I just had a thought. Maybe Trump was 4-D chessing it by getting McConnell to spend all that money.

I think the Mormon’s call that “Bleeding the Beast.”

Except he (McConnell) didn't "waste" it!

A group, small to be sure, made millions on the loss!

Kind of like lawyers, people win and lose in court cases but the lawyers are always the really BIG WINNERS!

Campaign "consultants," sales people who got the ad buys, printers printing signs, flyers, door hangers, etc., IT handling websites, blogs, etc.

There are always winners in campaigns, even losing campaigns.

Some of regular faces on the TV shows are the consultants, market researchers, pollsters, etc. Many of them have never been on a winning team, yet here they are on TV giving their opinions, advice or merely arguing the opposite view on political shows, continuing to earn their living off of a losing campaign, getting the last laugh (or dollar for that matter!)

“atone for this mistake”

The only way for McConnell to atone is to get Trump’s agenda through the Senate.

So what? It wasn’t his money. This is what Democrats do.

It is sad thinking about this lost opportunity.

If McConnell McCain and Ryan were at least quite/neutral if not on board what could have been accomplished this year, it could have set the stage for the USA for the next 20 years.

Still, the money is pissed down the drain, unless for some silly reason you are living under the illusion all of those lawyers are going to give it back.

I like your thinking.

At the same time, in a different dimension of this chess game, Trump wracked up a favor from McConnell.

Now McConnell owes him, even though Trump knew Strange would lose.

McConnell is responsible for Patty Murray being in the Senate. So, his malfeasance toward the Republican Party has a long history.

My point was in general, though faint attempt at sarcasm, the RNC money going into the campaign for Strange, he was using money from his Never/Trumper donors and it went to a bunch of "professional leeches and hangers on" to do the hatchet job against Moore.

That these guys and gals, if any, spent millions besmirching the reputation of a good man, is just that much less they will have to spend against another conservative primary challenger to another RINO!

Not only did they waste it they wasted it stupidly. You wouldn’t believe the number of negative ads they ran against Roy Moore. You don’t run negative ads against Roy Moore in Alabama. And now his dem opponent will use that against Moore in the general.

I’m right there with you that is it not wonderful that not only is the swamp being drained in that it can only start with their access to cash.
