You could stay in hell for a little while if you knew that you were going to get out.
My mother always told me that when I was going through something tough and dispiriting. It was her way of saying that trouble doesn’t last forever, that even in your darkest place, hold fast to the hope and the light, that though today you are in the valley, tomorrow you shall scale the peak.
Well, Mama, this is hell. Indeed, Donald Trump’s America is the Ninth Circle.
And while I know that a president is limited to two terms, and I highly doubt that Trump could be re-elected to a second term and think that Robert Mueller’s investigation may curtail the first, I am still struggling to maintain optimism and perseverance.
I don’t think that this is even a matter of fatigue, but rather of the capacity of rage and the length of mourning. Hopelessness is a very human response when the feeling of persecution intersects with the feeling of powerlessness.

Poor Mr. Blow. Probably lives in a great NYC apt. and vacations in The Hamptons. But he’s in 9th ring of hell. Yeah, I believe that.

He’s finishing the first and gettin re-elected Charles. Your mother should be one of those “abortion heroes” the Left admires so much.
Hey, we toughed it out for eight years of obama without catastrophizing over it; surely, you can do the same.
These people are angry, enraged, depressed and and sad because all because of their inability to accept defeat.
The hell they’re living in is of their own making. Charles Blow has a problem dealing with reality.
The rest of us don’t. That’s what makes America great.
If you are in the US military, you have sworn an oath to sacrifice your life on behalf of the likes of Mr. Blow. If you are a devout, committed Christian , your faith prepares you to make a similar sacrifice. Mr. Blow if nothing else leads individuals to question their ideals and values.

Charles Blow thinks America is hell? He should follow his own advice and move abroad.

To care at all I’d have to believe (1) that something Charles Blow writes is worth reading, and (2) that Leftards have souls.
Since I’m pretty sure (1) and (2) are both false, I won’t bother reading his column.
