They opened the copper mine (allegedly after a slave found a green rock)...

Did you read the story at your link? It’s a disavowal of the story and an apology for spreading a ‘fake news’ story about the disinterment of Confederate soldiers.

To suppose that Confederate statues are only about slavery is false argument. While slavery played a part most of the solders were not fighting to defend slavery. Most fought because of states rights and taxes. Very few Southerners could afford to own a slave. Some examples of wages at that time are Bricklayer $ 1.53/day Firemen $ 1.33/day Farm Labor $ 0.88/day . Since the south was almost wholly an agriculture economy $.89 a day would have been what the majority were working for. The average cost of a slave was between $700 and $2000 approximately so it absurd to think they owned slaves. To say the Civil war was fought over slavery is also absurd. Four slave states were part of the Union. U.S. Grant maintained ownership of his slaves till after the war was over. A little much to be fighting slavery when your Commanding General is a slaveholder. This whole argument is not about slavery or statues....it’s about the left overturning an election...I assure you a Marxist cares nothing about human rights!!!

The Confederate Constitution begs to differ. Listen Reb, save yourself the trouble with the ‘’economics’’ argument and tariffs and any other bs. I've heard it all before. And as far as Marxists are concerned I was once so far to the Left I would have made Karl Marx look like a Buddhist monk. I know how they think, how the act I even know what they're going to say and do before they do it.

Mademoiselle Salamander what I'd really like to see is somebody start giving these little thugs a dirt nap and I guarantee this bs will stop. This is way beyond ''protest'', this is war.

We loved traveling down Confederate Ave and stopping at/viewing the huge memorial statues at publicly=owned Gettysburg National Military Park. It’s insane to capitulate to these marxists, without a real fight.

They’re so offended by the first civil war they’re trying to start a second one?

I note you did not challenge the factual statements just the generic argument about the confederate constitution. While you are right about the content you seem to be oblivious to the obvious that it was a political document meant to garner support for the ruling class i.e. (plantation owners) Like any other government entity money was a must and the plantation owners had the money. I stand by my post and am prepared to show proof of anything in it!!!

There is a story of a woman being “triggered” when she saw the rebel flag displayed on the boats of the “Cajun Navy”, who are currently saving stranded people in Texas.
Haven’t heard any of the nearly-drowned complaining about the decor choices of their saviors.

Cut the crap sonny. It all comes back to slaves and slavery. The South fought a war to keep in place an economic system based on the use of slave labor. All that bs about tariffs is just that, bs. And point of fact up until about 1914 the most expensive living thing in America to buy was a horse.
