You are clueless. And apparently unwilling to educate yourself.

By issuing contracts and not breaching them whenever they consider it convenient.

I did not take it wrong. No straw man. You clearly stated that you did not think Americans should keep and bear arms in certain circumstances.

Do we want armed protests to become the standard? When the left feels particularly passionate about their side, and they do, are we OK with them bringing weapons?

Who the heck is "we?" Most of the "wes" around here that I know are perfectly fine with any American lawfully bearing arms no matter how stupid their political ideology is.

When faced with tyranny some men bow down and lick the hands that feed them. And some don't.

Yeah, I know the poetic, philosophical quotes too.

But really, we in the USA don't have a clue what real tyranny feels like.

..at what point, if any, would you resist an overbearing Federal government? I'd be very interested in hearing your answer to that question.

I can't answer that question for a whole nation. Neither can you. But when you need to resist, you should do it in court. Real people do that, and sometimes they win.

I believe, in this case, their response was an overreaction. I don't believe we're at the point where we need to go to war.

“So this is our goal then?”

In a word, yes.

You think it was a bad decision, but the fact is, the Bundy’s still own their ranch, their cattle, their surface rights and their water rights.

And the government is still 0-3 at trial. And the BLM agent Dan Love is under internal investigation.

Failure to comply with the verdict she so desperately wanted.

Yeah, I know it isn’t constitutional but it’s along the same despotic lines as she was pulling as procedure during the trail.

“are we calling for a shooting war against federal police every time a family’s livelihood is threatened by the government? “

Only when they show up dressed and armed as soldiers. It is only prudent to deploy similarly. Also, the BLM thugs were not in any danger unless they attacked first.
Last, if they had a job to do, they should have been there in a sportshirt, a hat and boots, and no guns.

They way they showed up AND their theft caused this.

What? Founding Fathers went to war for suffering less than 1% of the current abuses.

So in your mind, if the FEDs show up in swat gear, armed to the teeth, in full tacticool mode, we mere citizens should quickly submit?
Bear in mind, the protesters never threatened the Feds. They were simply armed and refusing to be pushed away. The Feds could leave at any time and let this play out in court.

No thanks.

You clearly stated that you did not think Americans should keep and bear arms in certain circumstances.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment, because I'm not congress. Hence the straw man comment.

Btw, in the pic I just posted above, they were not armed.

I clearly remember them courageously riding up to the BLM and shouting out that they were not armed. With BLM rifles pointing at them.

But really, we in the USA don't have a clue what real tyranny feels like.

The family's land and livelihood were being unjustly taken from them and their ability to resist in the courts was being stolen from them. That is tyranny. Real tyranny. In a nation where the rule of law was observed - even by the Federal government - the Bundy's cattle (their livelihood) would not have been stolen from them while their case was still being decided in the courts. The Feds did not like the way the case was going and so resorted to outright force which is real tyranny.

I can't answer that question for a whole nation. Neither can you. But when you need to resist, you should do it in court. Real people do that, and sometimes they win.

I didn't ask you to answer for the whole nation. I asked you to answer for yourself - which you neglected to do. Big surprise there.

But when you need to resist, you should do it in court.

Their ability to resist in court was being stolen from them until their neighbors put a stop to it. The Federal government uses bankruptcy as a weapon all the time. What happened when your father went up against the Feds? Bank account was frozen first thing, wasn't it?

The Bundys still own their ranch and most of their cattle:

‘As Fox News reported last night, despite a court order restricting the BLM to only seizing Bundy’s cattle, video shows that federal agents cut holes in water tanks and destroyed fences belonging to Bundy during the operation. According to Bundy, the BLM also killed two prize bulls for no reason. The Bureau of Land Management has failed to respond to the allegations.’

Hopefully, they will win in court or get a healthy settlement to undo the damage.

I'd love to see the BLM dissolved. Public lands can easily be managed by the states, and should be. There is no constitutional authority for the Fed Gov to own land outside of national parks and the District of Columbia.

And there should be only ONE armed federal law enforcement bureau in the Fed Gov: the FBI. Period. Every other department should disband their police forces.
