Roy Moore, former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, announced an endorsement for his U.S. Senate campaign that may well resonate with the Crimson Tide nation.
Former Alabama All-SEC running back Siran Stacy appeared with Moore on Thursday night at a candidate forum in Huntsville.

"The hopelessness is over for America," Stacy said. "God is raising up generals all over this great nation and he's raising up one specially in Alabama. I'm honored to be a part of Judge Moore's team."
Stacy played from 1989-91 after transferring to Alabama. He helped lead the 1989 team to the Sugar Bowl.

"You want leaders who care about the ordinary man," Stacy said in an interview with AL.com. "I believe Judge Roy Moore is going to put people to work again and stand for strong morals that have declined. We need our morality back in the state of Alabama."

Roy Moore stands up to the Establishment and has been removed from office twice by the GOPe.
Mo Brooks represents the speech makers who mostly end up supporting Paul Ryan in the end known as the “House Freedom Caucus”.
Luther Strange, the appointed US Senator, is endorsed by the GOP Senate leadership’s money and got a slot on Fox News Channel earlier this afternoon.
Its obvious to me who the candidate to support is. Roy Moore.
Roll Tide.. Roll!!!
Your statements are too simplistic. There is nothing wrong with the Freedom Caucus or being on Fox News. Are you an Alabamian?
All three of the candidates are good. Mo Brooks would be my first pick. He is a solid conservative. I have heard his radio interviews a lot so I am more familiar with him. He has been working in the trenches of Congress. Big Luther appears to be OK. I don't know as much about him. So is Mr 10 commandments.
I think Mo or Luther would be more effective in the US Senate since Roy is so focused on social issues. But any of three would be better than most current US Senators. It is a great problem to have -- to pick between these three men!
A Roy Moore victory will certainly rub a lot of people the wrong way, including elites in the GOP. I say rub it in the dirt.
He was a running back on the team 25-plus years ago and a bust in the NFL. How much weight do you think he'll carry?
I enjoyed reading your profile, plain talk. The Thomas Paine quote is one worth remembering...
thanks! Long due for an update I suppose. The Paine quote is a keeper though.
Remember that in 1984 Michael Dukakis was the king of endorsements. Every other day he was accepting the support of the “Ladies Fly Fishing Enthusiasts of Central Iowa” or something. An endorsement justifies a press availability or rally. It might make fodder for a commercial message or publicity photo.
Make that 1988.
And how much good did that do him?
And how much good did that do him?
In Alabama....a lot!
Unless, of course, you are an Auburn grad
Mo Brooks is a conservative talker, emotional speaker whose act enables Paul Ryan to remain Speaker because virtually all of the dozens of “Freedom Caucus” members have a track record of allowing the leadership (Ryan and earlier Boehner) to win the leadership elections without a large enough group standing up in opposition to the Speaker.
Roy Moore supports President Trump which means he’s definitely on the right track in support someone is not of the Establishment.
In half the state maybe. It'll be a definite turn-off for Auburn fans.
Alabamian here.
Stacey won’t have much of an impact, in my humble opinion. He’s from between the eras of Bryant and Saban. Meh..
I am for Moe.
