President Trump’s Justice Department is exploring new ways to take down so-called “sanctuary cities” via legal methods, according to a new report.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the DOJ is developing legal strategies to cancel out sanctuary cities across the country. The goal for DOJ would be to effectively force cities to comply with federal officials, according to the report.
A senior DOJ attorney told the newspaper that the department is pursuing several different options. One option would see Justice officials argue that local police departments refusing to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement illegally pre-empts federal law.
Another would argue that municipalities refusing to comply with ICE are discriminating against ICE because those cities honor requests from other federal agencies, like the FBI.
The DOJ source also said that the federal government is seeking friendly court circuits to present cases against sanctuary cities, and expressed hope that as Trump fills more vacancies on federal courts, the DOJ’s chances of securing a legal victory will improve, according to the Journal.
Trump and his Justice Department have clashed with sanctuary cities since the beginning of his presidency. His first budget proposal included several changes to immigration law that would crack down on sanctuary cities.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions also announced in March that local governments seeking DOJ grants would not be able to receive those grants if they are a sanctuary city.

Who is the leaker?
They are still illegal aliens. The only reason they are treated differently is that Obama decided he would implement the DREAM Act that did not pass Congress illegally.
If we are to restore the rule of law, DACA must be ended.
It has no basis in law.
We need some way to prosecute them for treason (specifically, aiding and abetting a foreign invasion). The problem is that they would be aquitted by any Democrats or Chamber-of-Commerce Republicans who are on the jury. Some sort of military tribunal, perhaps?
Donald’s trying to square the circle here, and would be better under law to order these largely innocents (brought in well under the age of consent) to go seek their fortunes in their birth countries — but I think he is trying to be humanitarian.
I wouldn’t have a lot of beef with a DACA-like law that was actually a law. But maybe the time is not right for such a thing.
Just withholding money from the illegals will suffice; nobody would want these illegals if they didn’t come with so much gubmint money. If these cities didn’t get our money for the housing, schooling, even the food itself consumed by these illegals, they wouldn’t take them in.
These illegals are just trafficked here to “revitalize” dying areas - and the illegals are funded by the taxes of those who fled the areas to begin with.
Arrest, Prosecute, Jail every elected official in every sanctuary city for Human Trafficking.

I think Donald Trump is trying to wrap all the measures up into a humane package deal. Limited amnesties to the DACA crowd, a robust Wall, and robust enforcement of the measures that remain as well as removal of incentives for gate crashers to keep on crashing the gates. Nobody is going to be entirely pleased. But it needs to be morally acceptable; our current gate crashers were largely nodded and winked through the gates.

8 U.S.C. § 1324 (a)(1)(A)(iii) Any person who knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation; shall be punished as provided in subparagraph (B)
8 U.S.C. § 1324 (a)(1)(B)(ii) A person who violates subparagraph (A) shall, for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both;
5 years per violation.
It is estimated that 2,350,000 illegal aliens live in California. At five years per violation that works out to 11,750,000 years in jail.

Why? The law is already crystal clear on this subject. We don't need a court to interpret the plain meaning of the law. We simply need people with the backbones to enforce it.
There's no point in even making laws, if we're just going to run to the high and mighty tyrants in black every time someone defies the law. Just let the courts decide what the law is, and quit pretending that we have a constitutional form of government.

That means one who is naturally an American because they couldn’t be anything else, born here of citizen parents.
Everyone in DC wanted that changed without the hassle of amending the Constitution.
The Senate passed a resolution declaring McCain a natural born citizen because he had TWO citizen parents, even though he was born in Panama.
Then Obama runs and wins based on just being born here, even though he told us on his website he was born a British subject as the result of having a foreign national father.
So the standard went from born here of citizen parents to just TWO citizen parents to just being born here in one election cycle without amending the Constitution.
According to this standard the recently deceased King of Thailand was eligible, he was born in Cambridge MA, as well as every anchor baby with no loyalty to the USA.
This was done intentionally because Rubio (no citizen parents), Cruz (foreign birth, one citizen parent), Jindal (no citizen parents), George P Bush (one citizen parent) and Haley (no citizen parents) were all ineligible and the future of the GOP.
The truth of the Kenyanesian Usurpation will never see the light of day because they ALL cooperated in the violation of the Constitution.
