Gun Activists Focus On National Concealed Carry Push

The National Rifle Association has made national concealed carry a primary cause for the organization, and without President Obama in office to go after for enacting routine gun control measures, the pro-gun lobbying group is focused on a cause to rally its members and donors around.

President Trump spoke before the NRA Friday afternoon telling members at their annual convention, “No longer will federal agencies be coming after law-abiding gun owners. (Applause.) No longer will the government be trying to undermine your rights and your freedoms as Americans. Instead, we will work with you, by your side.”

Trump’s appearance at the NRA meeting, something a president has not done since Reagan in 1983, appears to give the organizers confidence that the man they backed early on in 2016 will support their issues in Washington.

“If 10 states made it a felony to read The New York Times, the media would run the story 24/7 until Congress fixed the assault on the First Amendment,” NRA chief lobbyist Chris Cox,said in a recent 60-second ad. “But when 10 states criminalize the Second Amendment, the media says nothing.”

Geez. Would it be awesome if someone had the cojones to actually speak up and tell these infringers that "The SECOND AMENDMENT is your CCW". In all 57 states. Period!

That’s true. I’m hoping the DOJ prosecutes the people involved with trying to prosecute people legally carrying under national carry.

After that it’s open season on ferals. :-)

If congress could pass national reciprocity, they could just as easily pass national constitutional carry and be damned all the state statutes that get rolled over.

If I lived in AZ with constitution carry, open or concealed and decided to move to CA, I would be considered too dangerous to do those things. I thought we were all equal.

That would be nice but I don't see it happening.

National Concealed Carry reciprocity is the money issue for me.

Trump and the NRA made a big deal out of this issue during the campaign and I'm ready for the push.

Until you can drive from Maine to Arizona-(nobody wants to go to California)-without breaking any laws carrying your weapon, there will be work to do.

No need for “national reciprocity”. Free states that allow “shall issue” concealed carry should offer reciprocity to CCL holders in other free states, the same rights as their citizens.

Some already do. As we know, the rest require “OK. This is what you must do.” Or, at the other end, simply “No.”
The way it is now you need a manual to know where you can carry and what hoops you have to jump through and permits you have to buy, etc.

In sum, it should be as simple as—if you are in good odor with your state to carry, then you either can or cannot carry in the state you wish to visit. Except for work and other command appearances, we should boycott slave states for vacations, etc.

Suppressors should be legal nationwide.

We are “disenfranchised Californians.” We just received our Utah non-resident CCW permits ( after taking a locally offered class covering Utah’s requirements). While at the moment they are not valid here in CA, the are valid in 37 other states. We are hopeful that the National Reciprocity Law is passed, then we will see what CA tries to do. As an aside, in more than half of CA’s 58 counties, if you are a resident, you can get a CA CCW for the asking. So it will be the big Coastal Counties where the rub will come.

—when it passes, (I’m being optimistic) it will be interesting to see what it will take to force California, New York , etc., to abide by the law-—because my bet is that they will refuse——

“my bet is that they will refuse”

Agree, I suppose this is a stinking libertarian position, but that’s the only reason I can think of to pass national reciprocity: to see what the foaming-at-the-mouth gun grabbers in the deep blue states do.
They would refuse, as they refuse to comply with immigration law.
If you don’t like the part of the country where you live because you don’t need a nanny taking away your constitutional rights and a good chunk of your bank account ... move. Magpul did it and they’re thriving.

Considering how many states are going to Constitutional Carry, we might just reach the point (26 states?) where we might throw the “common use” argument back at the Supreme Court, to wit: “if the majority of states have no restriction against acquisition and open & concealed carry of handguns, then it is reasonable for a citizen to assume & expect _every_ state does as such is the _common_use_ across the nation.”

I have several non-resident permits that need to be renewed this year. I'm not waiting for Trump and Congress to act.

Until you can drive from Maine to Arizona-(nobody wants to go to California)-without breaking any laws carrying your weapon, there will be work to do.

There'll be some folks who might want to be careful about crossing into Wyoming. Though we've had Constitutional Carry since the Summer of 2013, there are also carry permits available for those travelling out-of-state, armored car guards, and other instances.

And when one Wyoming legislator found an Eastern state wouldn't *recognize* his Wyoming carry credentials, he began drafting a Wyoming, state reciprocity Act.

Those from outlaw states that refuse to recognize Wyoming carry licenses will find that the license plates and driver's licenses from their own states are not recognized, and their illegally operated vehicles can be seized on the spot.

Portable auto crushers and on-call county judges for court orders have been discussed, probably to be set up on the interstate approaches to Yellowstone National Park.

Fine-tuning of the act is still in process, and it might or might not make this year's legislative session. But discussion is on-going, if low-key, and if nothing is done at the naional level, it's a fair bet that something from the Cowboy State will enacted to be set the example. 8recog

Not a Bad idea, pass a law requiring it to be Locked up and Out of the Public View, then assess a $25 Propaganda Permit fee for each copy.

As well as reciprocity to those from *Constitutional Carry* states, such as Oklahoma has provided for in their governing state statute paszsed last year, I believe:

Apr 19, 2017 - Carry by Permitless Carry State Residents In Oklahoma.

The State of Oklahoma hereby recognizes any valid concealed or unconcealed carry weapons permit or license issued by another state, or if the state is a nonpermitting carry state, this state shall reciprocate under the permitting law of that state.

Simple, and reasonable.
