Atlanta, Georgia (CNN)Republicans were served another reminder of President Donald Trump's unpopularity Tuesday as Democrat Jon Ossoff nearly captured a House seat in a region that for decades has been a conservative stronghold, with the Democrat ultimately falling just short of the percent needed to avoid a runoff.
CNN projects that Ossoff will miss the 50% he needed to win outright. He and the other top vote-getter -- Republican candidate Karen Handel -- will now face off on their own in June.

Admit it. Your just another Never Trumper Movement Conservative still pouting cause your Perfect Cruz lost the Primary to Trump.
That is a very good and very sobering summary.
Best post I’ve ever read! BRAVO!!!
Yep, we Republican voters are little more than battered wives.
Not actually stupid. It would have been something for the media to get a hold of to spread propaganda that Trump had been repudiated. The real story here, though, is not about the hopeful election of this Democrat, but that he and the Democrat Party of access to incredible amounts of money to try such a thing and then point the finger at Republicans as being the Part of the Rich. This nation is in extreme danger because of this corruption and the general public with a near total disinterest in what is actually going on is going to be completely shocked at the end result, just like the Venezuelans.
Exactly.
Sad, but true. I can not understand what forces are behind the scenes stopping the action. Those forces must be taken out.
I hope the GOP can prevent so many candidates, in the future.
Congressman Ken Buck's new book tells us why those committee chairs put on the shows that they do. They have to pay dues to the Congressional Campaign Office of the GOP to the tune of $250,000.00 a year and the really important committees they have to cough up Half a Million a year. Who knew?
Your post sums up the angst, those of us that have been through these promises before, have.
Ryan's Health Bill was horrible but even worse was Trumps acceptance of it.
Karen Handel will clean Ossoff’s clock in June.
Sweetie, read my posts since the day DJT rode down the elevator. Walmart might have crow on special today in case you’re interested.3
“Ryan’s Health Bill was horrible but even worse was Trumps acceptance of it.”
Today I received a response from my GOP congresscritter to my letter describing my disappointment with the failure to pass Obamacare repeal, something she voted for 6 times when Obama was president. Here is the response:
“The AHCA did not come to the floor for a vote and is not scheduled for a vote. However, the House is still considering various proposals to repeal and replace Obamacare.
Every American deserves health care reform that is done the right way, for the right reasons, in the right amount of time. It’s not about finding a quick fix. It’s about developing a long-term solution that works for everyone. Know that I will keep our shared support for repealing Obamacare in mind as the House considers these proposals. “
In other words - we are going to stay with the status quo while we pretend to be studying the matter.
After 40+ years of voting for Republicans, I’ve determined it is a complete waste of time. They are not conservatives, they are deceivers and willing enablers of big oppressive government. Better to stay home on election day than waste my time going to the polling station and signaling my approval of their duplicity. I’ll stay at home and recognize whoever is elected will not be representing me.
But, but, but they have a (R) by their name.
I have been saying for years you can't just chalk their actions up to dumb. They are complicit.
The Tea Party candidate the the race (one of the founders of the GA Tea Party) couldn’t even do a phone interview with a local friendly talk show host. She did worse than the caller from hell. It was very embarrassing for the pro-Tea Party host... and for us Tea Party supporters listening.
Of course, her vote total was pathetic. She should have found her favorite among the top 3 and worked for that candidate rather than thinking she could be a candidate.
