4 mg, Midazolam/VERSED can slow or stop breathing to the point that medical literature advises doctors to monitor patients closely. That would barely put me, a 5 ft 130 lb female under for a Upper Endoscope. Takes 7mg to do that. And you are always attached to a heart monitor when they run those tests or do surgery. Hanging, shooting and such which gave a quick, but not completely painless death were OK.
