Trump's crackdown focuses on people in the U.S. illegally – but not on the businesses that hire them
Los Angeles Times ^ | March 20, 2017 | Cindy Carcamo

“The neon light is on. It has been for decades, and that neon light is driven by jobs,” Reed testified. “As long as those jobs are available, those people are going to come in.”

The article is predictably anti-Trump - the man has only been in office for two months. But it does raise an important point - getting the illegal alien crisis resolved will not only require a border wall and deportations of illegals. It'll also require crackdowns on the businesses that drive illegal immigration by hiring illegal aliens. Can't resolve the problem on the supply side without also ending the demand for illegal aliens in this country.

Should be both but a decent start.

President Trump has been in office for about 2 months now and he hasn’t solved all the problems. Outrageous! Time to impeach!

Going after employers only would solve nothing. The illegal would just find another source of income. Removing the illegals stops the problem at the source. We need to go after employers too but one would assume this is everify and that needs to be passed by congress.

Exactly. Trump’s initial actions focus on the worst of the worst — the criminals and repeat offenders. I am sure he has plans in the works for a more comprehensive approach. But just because he hasn’t put it all in place in two months doesn’t mean it isn’t going to happen. The article is especially silly since the LAT doesn’t really want him to crack down on employers.

Civil forfeiture to companies and Hollywood actors who benefit their businesses and their mansions by using illegals!

First things first is my opinion. Make each and every illegal afraid of getting ICE’d. Keep them looking over their shoulders 24/7/365. Make them terrified to try and use a fake SS number. Make them afraid of even accepting cash under the table (it is all marked and WE can track you is a good threat). Make them hide, cower and fear enough so they’ll go home. And, in due time, WE will get around to the those greedy employers that continue to hire them.

They MUST be made GONE - completely and irrevocably - and how long they’ve been here does not matter. They still cost us more than they can ever repay in the process.

Require E-Verify now with stiff finds for violation by employers. End the incentive to come here illegally.

Finally the LA Times is talking.

Restore eVerify and go after the employers like they used yo do until, oh, eight years ago or so.

According to NumbersUSA he has delegated about 15mil in budget request to institute E-Verify...this article did not walk this 360 to verify what his plans are.
A national E-Verify policy will FREAK OUT the business community...more fighting ahead.
In Houston/HARRIS COUNTY the Sheriff pulled out of 287G in league with the ACLU.
I predict more criminal alien crime nationwide as SOROS works this angle.

If you start not hiring people because you think they are illegal, you will find yourself in a world of trouble. You may not claim that because they do not speak English they are not legal. If they present any sort of documentation, you must accept it or you will be harassed by the issuing agency claiming that you are not an authority on forgeries of their documents (I was threatened by this after a potential employee offered a laughable forgery of a SSN card). For employers, you are damned if you do damned if you don’t.

Get serious & competent about E-VERIFY. Also, fine and/or jail the worst of the repeat-offender employers hiring the Illegals.

Do both those things and the rest will get the message.

One more thing: Get ruthless against the drug smugglers bringing death into America. This is just as much a war as any military action.

Going after employers and skinning them alive if they hire illegals would solve a lot.

You don’t have to explain to anyone why you don’t hire someone.

You don't have to bust all the employers, just some big public ones. To make an example out of them. Pour encourager les autres.

It'll make businesses think twice before hiring them.

In the meantime, ICE is making a list of any businesses involved. Shhhhhhhh

That posts reads like that of a crypto globalist. If employer has suspicions of an applicant being an illegal alien, all they have to do is use e-verify and if their are not cleared, tell them to pack sand.
