Sorry, the bold was a mistake - it was meant to be italicized.

Shhhh.. don’t upset the Apple cart with Your anti-capitalism.. These poor CEOs just can’t compete without illegals. Americans aren’t smart enough, industrious enough, ad nauseum. And don’t mention the Tax Dodgers who aren’t paying Federal taxes to hire citizens. They are just Capitalists who deserve all the tax... “breaks” they can get. just ask Carrier and Sprint. I mean, it’s just what the taxpayers want.. Crony Capitalism.

Apparently, if the applicant has a lawyer standing behind them (figuratively), sometimes you do.

I never believed a think Trump said. I figured they were just his “negotiating stance.” I just voted against Hillary!.
Darn, was I wrong.
What a dude? Where can we get more Presidents like him? We going to need about 50 - 100 years of President Trumps to fix the damage we have done since ~1960.

Request for funds to improve e-verify are in the budget proposal. Mandated e-verify will require additional legislation.
This piece of the puzzle does need attention.

There used to be regular raids on construction sites around here.
Those ended when W. took office.

The article is especially silly since the LAT doesn’t really want him to crack down on employers.

Yeah the libs are so used to lying they don't even realize when their complaint will actually work against them.

Imagine if the President came out and said "The LAT has brought up an excellent point and I'm asking congress to improve e-verify and calling on the IRS and SS administration to go after misappropriated tax ids.

I guess my memory’s fuzzy then as I thought I remembered exec’s drawing prison time for making a pattern of hiring illegals and aiding them in dodging the law until BHO.

As someone else pointed out, eVerify is only part of the solution to attracting them.

To paraphrase John the Baptist, “A better than Donald Trump is coming,” soon, and He is going to judge this world and punish the wicked with a rod of iron.

We only have about six months until things really kick into high gear, so get right with Jesus Christ, now!

The market lace will deal with companies that hire illegals, when they can no longer undercut the competitors

Trump will not have to deal with the companies, they will either pay market wages or fail

I do agree with the premise. Under the table jobs and welfare are the attractions. We need to rid ourselves of both to solve this problem because in my mind its not enough to just rid ourselves of the illegals who currently slum here. We have to eliminate the incentives that are attracting them here in the first place.

More Fake News.

Employers are already mandated to collect info. Primarily a SS#. They have no way of verifying the validity of these beyond E-Verify. But even if they opt for E-Verify or a questionable SS# gets kicked back by the IRS- usually months/years later- they can be held liable if they fire the employee because of it.

Well, as some one who know about this, the government put the onus of enforcement on the employer. But, the employer had to accept 3 pieces of I.D., regardless if they were forgeries. Plus, the employer couldn't ask them if they were illegal. It was against the law.

As a sidebar, the forgeries were so good that the authorities couldn't tell the difference between an official I.D. and the forgery.

“If they present any sort of documentation, you must accept it or you will be harassed by the issuing agency claiming that you are not an authority on forgeries of their documents (I was threatened by this after a potential employee offered a laughable forgery of a SSN card). For employers, you are damned if you do damned if you don’t.”

I’ve seen some doozies of fake SS cards. We figured if they are stupid enough to try and pass these off they have no business working here. We just told them we’d “keep their info on file”. Of course they speak little to no English so they just nod like bobble heads.

But you are correct. If you end up with an employee with questionable paperwork, you can do nothing about it. In fact IIRC the E-Verify form itself notes such.

You are correct. It was considered discriminatory to look into any of these things closely, even if the employer strongly suspected the applicant was an illegal.

If existing laws were EVER properly enforced, this would NOT be a problem.

This is what happens when you kick the can down the road.

The more Trump consults with business execs, and brings them into his cabinet, the less likely this side of the equation will be addressed.
