“We don’t have the repeal votes, let’s punt on the goal line again and wait until we have a super-duper Congressional majority in 2018 and then we can repeal. But for now we need to keep Obamacare otherwise the Dems will call us mean names!” < /FR establishment GOP wing >
Rand has been impressive the past month. Dislike Ryan so much
Pro what are you babbling about the FR establishment? I have no idea what you’re talking about.if the people here bother you that much start your own site.
Just watched Ryan on Tucker Carlson tonight and now his talking point seems to be “This Better Way healthcare plan is what we (all) ran on for the past year”...I’m sorry, I don’t ever remember that specific plan ever being mentioned during the 2015-16 campaign landscape, he’s such a liar...just because he can talk at the speed of sound doesn’t make him right....it’s politicians like him who speak down to the low-information voters and hope that they believe the sh** he’s shoveling. I still have faith Trump will get this all figured out and a great, conservative bill will be drafted.
He’s right but, Trump already said “let the negotiates begin” so I am sure he is looking this over and if it were to pass to his desk in its current time form, it would die instantly.
Trump is going great to pull a Clinton move by talking about what he thinks is best and getting citizens to help shape the agenda, which he co-opt upon signing.
To the extent that folks on FreeRepublic advocate for Freedom, Rand has been the man with a plan on this issue!
He has the best response to the establishment.
Which, as should have been expected, includes Trump.
This is hard for some to accept, but as great as he is on some topics Trump IS the establishment when it comes to entitlements. He has made that clear from the beginning.
I think Rand is just astute enough to realize that the Ryan bill isn’t going to pass as the replacement to SoetoroCare. If the GOP-e were more powerful, then Rand would be whistling GOP-e notes right now; I don’t much care for Senators who are only helpful because of Trump’s mandate.
“a great, conservative bill will be drafted.”
What in the he#! you talking about?
There is to be NO federal control over healthcare. It is ILLEGAL for the Feds to have control over healthcare!!!

Davonte=don’t
From everything I’ve read (so far), Ryan’s plan only needs 51 Senate votes to pass.
Do any of the other legislators have a similar plan? Because if it requires 60 filibuster-proof votes to make it through, it’s DOA in the Senate.
Are conservatives so strongly opposed to the defunding plan that they’d take a chance of winding up with Obamacare surviving intact?
“I dislike RYAN so much I cant...”
How about Trump?
He and his admin are on Ryan’s side on this one. Trump loves the federal entitlements we hate, he has always been clear about that.
Ran Paul needs to STOP being a jerk...

Don’t you want to see his budget first?
Not attacking, just asking. :)
The thing is, if one looks at last year’s 4 trillion dollar budget, if the military and SS and Medicare don’t get touched, there ain’t a whole lot to touch.
Unless there a 100s of billions to save in Medicare, which is VERY possible.
I personally think 600 BILLION dollars should be plenty enough if used right to build a fantastic military.
But what do I know :)
I am very happy with the job Trump is doing but I am wondering about where the funds will come for a trillion dollar infrastructure project. Likely tolls.
Just implement Rule 19...forces debate limited to two speeches per Senator...and a 50% vote to pass when all done speaking.
I disagree but in a friendly way :) We are, after all, FRiends!
It's hard for some to accept because the assertion is utter balderdash. The guy has been in office less that 60 days and you want to push that narrative? "He's made it clear from the beginning"?
President Trump will see to it that the 0bamacare replacement legislation does everything expected of it by his supporters.
There will doubtless be more entitlement reform to come at some point. Indeed, repealing and replacing 0bamacare is entitlement reform, of course, but to think that no more entitlement reform will occur simply because it's not the top priority at this moment is simply not accurate.
There is just no doubt that many of the policy minds in Trump's inner circle believe entitlement reform to be a very important issue to deal with, at least eventually. It is clearly an aspect of the task of "draining the swamp", so I seriously doubt that it will be completely ignored.
Not much of what Trump does is going to make the Establishment stand up and cheer, other than maybe some of the defense spending...
