An Oklahoma mom has decided to give birth to her terminally ill daughter so that she can donate the newborns organs.
Keri Young, from Oklahoma City, was devastated to discover that her baby, whom she named Eva, would be born without a portion of her brain and skull due to a condition known as anencephaly.
Keri who learned of the childs fate during her 20-week ultrasound is scheduled to give birth to her child May 7 and will likely only spend a few days with the newborn before she dies.
Her husband, Royce, was in awe of his wifes heartbreaking choice to carry their baby all to potentially save another childs life, though he says hes not surprised.
Donating was on Keris mind from darn near the second we found out and while the experience of holding and kissing our daughter will be something we cherish forever, the gift(s) shes got inside that little body of hers is what really matters. Keri saw that almost instantly, Royce wrote in a Facebook post last week that has since been shared thousands of times.
Royce, a writer, said his wife has proven her strength numerous times during their eight-year marriage, but that this time he was most impressed.

Wow what a selfless lady
Understatement of the year but that’s because there’s no words that exist to explain how HARD and KIND what she is doing is.
She is only growing closer to the child every day and I don’t even want to think about her hurt. And the child’s.
I’ll just pray.
We should all pray for her, I’m sure God is already aware of her great and selfless gift and he will make sure the next child is perfect in every way.
God bless this incredible woman
I had friends who had an anencephalic child (which they knew before birth) and the father the mother just went and held the child for the few hours until she died. Other friends had an anencephalic child who actually lived for a few weeks, and they spent time with him every day.
It’s a transforming experience for parents, and both of these couples were about the only ones I knew who didn’t get divorced during the ‘80s divorcemania.
wow.
Still and all, I hope my nieces and nephews never have to go through it.
I have read stories of children who have been diagnosed with this condition in utero and on birth it turned out that the diagnosis was wrong.
There is way too much diagnosis based on ultrasounds.
That is just not a reliable enough indicator to determine life or death of a child and the long term prognosis.
If the baby dies without any “help” from the medical staff, this is morally OK.
May God bless this family and welcome this baby into His loving arms.
I agree. It’s horrible beyond belief.
BTW, did you see the surprisingly pro-life film “Arrival”? It deals with something like this.
No but i will. Can you tell me an actor in it or the year it came out as Amazon is only showing the bit movie “Arrival” about aliens.
I think the Arrival movie you mention on Amazon is the one livius is referring to. Yes its about alien visitors, but does have a pro life background sub-plot to it.
Really? Wow. Thanks.
