RUSH: In very measured tones, the president is firing howitzers at the media and the Washington establishment. Ill characterize this later. Lets just JIP it now to get in here while we can.
THE PRESIDENT: doing what I pledge to do. Thats all Im doing. I put it out before the American people, got 306 Electoral College votes. I wasnt supposed to get 222. They said, Theres no way to get 222; 230 is impossible, 270, which you need? That was laughable. We got 306. Because people came out and voted like theyd never seen before, so thats the way it goes. I guess it was the biggest Electoral College win since Ronald Reagan. In other words, the medias trying to attack our administration because they know we are following through on pledges that we made, and theyre not happy about it, for whatever reason.
RUSH: Hes really attacked them here before.
THE PRESIDENT: A lot of people arent happy with it. In fact, Ill be in Melbourne, Florida, five oclock on Saturday
RUSH: He really launched into them.
THE PRESIDENT: and I heard just heard that the crowds are massive that want to be there. I turned on the TV, opened the newspapers, and I see stories of chaos. Chaos! Yet it is the exact opposite. This administration is running like a fine-tuned machine
RUSH: (laughing)
THE PRESIDENT: despite the fact that I cant get my cabinet approved, and theyre outstanding people. Like Senator Dan Coats, who is there, one of the most respected men of the Senate. He cant get approved. How do you not approve him? Hes been a colleague highly respected, brilliant guy, great guy. Everybody knows him. Were waiting for approval. So we have a wonderful group of people thats working very hard, thats being very much misrepresented about, and we cant let that happen.
So if the Democrats who have All you have to do is look at where they are right now. The only thing they can do is delay, because theyve screwed things up royally. Believe me. Let me list to you some of the things that weve done in just a short period of time. Just got here. I got here with no cabinet. Again, each of these actions is a promise I made to the American people. So well go over just some of them and we have a lot happening next week and weeks coming. Weve withdrawn from the job killing disaster known as Trans-Pacific Partnership.
Were gonna make trade deals, but were gonna have one-on-one deals, bilateral. Were gonna have one-on-one deals. We directed the elimination of regulations that undermine manufacturing, and called for expedited approval of the permits needed for America and American infrastructure and that means plants, equipment, roads, bridges, factories. People take 10, 15, 20 years to get disapproved for a factory. They go in for a permit; its many, many years. And then, at the end of the process, they spend tens of millions of dollars on nonsense.
And at the end of the process, they get rejected. Now, they may be rejected with me, but its gonna be a quick rejection. It is not gonna take years. But mostly its gonna be an acceptance. We want plants built and we want factories built and we want the jobs. We dont want the jobs going to other countries. Weve imposed a hiring freeze on nonessential federal workers. Weve imposed a temporary moratorium on new federal regulations. Weve issued a game-changing new rule that says, For each one new regulation, two old regulations must be eliminated. Makes sense. Nobodys ever seen regulations like we have.
You go to other countries and you look at industries they have and you say, Let me see your regulations, and theyre a fraction, just a tiny fraction of what we have. And I want regulations because I want safety; I want environmental all environmental situations to be taken properly care of. Its very important to me. But you dont need four or five or six regulations to take care of the same thing. Weve stood up for the men and women of law enforcement, directing federal agencies to ensure they are protected from crimes of violence.
We directed the creation of a task force for reducing violent crime in America, including the horrendous situation take a look Chicago and others taking place right now in our inner cities. Horrible. Weve ordered the Department of Homeland Security and justice to coordinate on a plan to destroy criminal cartels coming into the United States with drugs. Were becoming a drug-infested nation. Drugs with becoming cheaper than candy bars, and were not gonna let it happen any longer.
Weve undertaken the most substantial border security measures in a generation to keep our nation and our tax dollars safe, and are now in the process of beginning to build a promised wall on the southern border. Met with General, now Secretary, Kelly yesterday and were starting that process. And the wall is going to be a great wall, and its gonna be a wall negotiated by me. The price is gonna come down just like it has on everything else Ive negotiated for the government.
RUSH: Yeah, and have a beautiful door.

The price is gonna come down just like it has on everything else Ive negotiated for the government.
RUSH: Yeah, and have a beautiful door.
THE PRESIDENT: And were gonna have a wall that works. Not gonna have a wall like they have now which is either nonexistent or a joke. Weve ordered a crackdown on sanctuary cities that refuse to comply with federal law and that harbor criminal aliens, and weve ordered an end to the policy of catch-and-release on the border. No more release. No matter who you are, release. Weve begun a nationwide effort to remove criminal aliens, gang members, drug dealers, and others who pose a threat to public safety.
We are saving American lives every single day. The court system has not made it easy for us. And weve even created a new office in Homeland Security dedicated to the forgotten American victims of illegal immigrant violence, of which there are many. Weve taken decisive action to keep radical Islamic terrorists out of our country. Though parts of our necessary and constitutional actions were blocked by a judges in my opinion incorrect and unsafe ruling, our administration is working night and day to keep you safe, including reporters safe.
And is vigorously defending this lawful order. I will not back down from defending our country. I got elected on defense of our country. I keep my campaign promises, and our citizens will be very happy when they see the results. They already are; I can tell you that. Extreme vetting will be put in place, and it already is in place in many places. In fact, we had to go quicker than we thought because of the bad decision we received from a circuit that has been overturned at a record number. Ive heard 80%. I find that hard to believe. Thats just a number Ive heard, that theyre overturned 80% of the time.
RUSH: Its pretty close.
THE PRESIDENT: I think that circuit is That circuit is in chaos, and that circuit is, frankly, in turmoil. But we are appealing that, and we are going further. Were issuing a new executive action next week that will comprehensively protect our country. So well be going along the one path and hopefully winning that. At the same time, we will be issuing a new and very comprehensive order to protect our people, and that will be done sometime next week toward the beginning or middle, at the latest part.
Weve also taken steps to begin construction of the Keystone pipeline and Dakota Access pipelines thousands and thousands of jobs and put new buy America measures in place to require American steel for American pipelines. In other words, when they build a pipeline in this country, and we use the powers of government to make that pipeline happen, we want them to use American steel. And theyre willing to do that. But nobody ever asked before I came along. Even this order was drawn and they didnt say that, and Im reading the order. Im saying, Why arent we using American steel? And they said, Thats a good idea. We put it in.
RUSH: (laughing) Jeez!
THE PRESIDENT: To drain the swamp of corruption in Washington, DC
RUSH: (laughing) Jeez!
RUSH: Here we go.
THE PRESIDENT: Ive started by imposing a five-year lobbying ban on White House officials, and a lifetime ban on lobbying for a foreign government. Weve begun preparing to repeal and replace Obamacare. Obamacare is a disaster, folks. Its a disaster. Now, you can say, Oh, Obamacare. I mean, they fill up our easily with people that you wonder how they get there. But theyre not the Republican people that our representatives are representing. So weve begun preparing to repeal and replace Obamacare, and are deep in the midst of negotiations on a very historic tax reform to bring our jobs back, to bring our jobs back to this country big league.
Its already happening, but big league. Ive also worked to install a cabinet over the delays and obstruction of Senate Democrats. Youve seen what theyve done over the last long number of years. That will be one of the great cabinets ever assembled in American history. You look at Rex Tillerson. Hes out there negotiating right now. General Mattis, I mentioned before. General Kelly. We have great, great people. Mick is with us now. Theyre great people.
RUSH: Best cabinet ever.
THE PRESIDENT: Among their responsibilities will be ending the bleeding of jobs from our country and negotiating fair-trade deals for our citizens. Now, look, fair trade. Not free, fair. If a country is taking advantage of us, not gonna let that happen anymore. Every country takes advantage of us, almost. I may be able to find a couple that dont, but for the most part that would be a very tough job for me to do. Jobs have already started to surge.
Since my election, Ford announced it will abandon its plans to build a new factory in Mexico and will instead invest $700 million in Michigan, creating many, many jobs. Fiat-Chrysler announced it will invest $1 billion in Ohio and Michigan, creating 2,000 new American jobs. They were with me a week ago. You know, you were here. General Motors, likewise, committed to invest billions of dollars in its American manufacturing operation.
Keeping many jobs here that were going to leave. And if I didnt get elected, believe me, they would have left, and these jobs and these things that Im announcing would never have come here. Intel just announced that it will move ahead with a new plant in Arizona that probably was never going to move ahead with. And that will result
RUSH: Fix their modems.
THE PRESIDENT: in at least 10,000 American jobs. Walmart announced it will create 10,000 jobs in the United States just this year because of our various plans and initiatives. There will be many, many more, many more. These are few that were naming. Other countries have been taking advantage of us for decades, decades and decades and decades, folks. And were not gonna let that happen anymore, not gonna let it happen.
And one more thing. I have kept my promise to the American people by nominating a justice of the United States Supreme Court, Judge Neil Gorsuch, who is from my list of 20 and who will be a true defender of our laws and our Constitution. Highly respected. Should get the votes from the Democrats. You may not see that, but hell get there one way or the other. But he should get there the old-fashioned way. And he should get those votes.
This last month has represented an unprecedented degree of action on behalf of the great citizens of our country. Again, I say it, there has never been a presidency thats done so much in such a short period of time. And we havent even started the big work yet that starts early next week. Some very big things are gonna be announced next week. So were just getting started. We will be giving a speech, as I said, in Melbourne, Florida, at five p.m. I hope to see you there. And with that I just say God bless America and lets take some questions. Mara? Mara, go ahead. You were cut off pretty violently at our last news conference.
REPORTER: (Unintelligible).
THE PRESIDENT: Mike Flynn is a fine person. And I asked for his resignation. He respectfully gave it. He is a man who there was a certain amount of information given to Vice President Pence, whos with us today, and I was not happy with the way that information was given. He didnt have to do that because what he did wasnt wrong, what he did in terms of the information he saw. What was wrong was the way that other people, including yourselves in this room were given that information, cause that was classified information that was given illegally. Thats the real problem. And you know you can talk all you want about Russia, which is all a, you know, fake news fabricated deal to try and make up for the loss of the Democrats and the press plays right into it.
RUSH: Right on!
THE PRESIDENT: In fact, I saw a couple of the people that were supposedly involved with all of this, they know nothing about it, they werent in Russia, they never made a phone call to Russia, they never received a phone call. Its all fake news. Its all fake news. The nice thing is I see its starting to turn where people are now looking at the illegal, and I think its very important, the illegal giving out classified information. And let me just tell you, it was given out like so much. Ill give you an example. I called, as you know, Mexico. It was a very, very confidential, classified call.
RUSH: Right. Listen.
THE PRESIDENT: But I called Mexico.
RUSH: This is very important here.
THE PRESIDENT: And in calling Mexico, I figured, oh, thats nice, I spoke to the president of Mexico, I had a good call. All of a sudden its out there for the world to see. Its supposed to be secret.
RUSH: They lied about it.
THE PRESIDENT: Its supposed to be either confidential or classified in that case. Same thing with Australia.
RUSH: They lied about it, though.
THE PRESIDENT: All of a sudden people are finding out exactly what took place. The same thing that happened with respect to General Flynn. Everybody saw this. And Im saying the first thing I thought of when I heard about this, How does the press get this information? Thats classified. How do they do it? You know why? Because its an illegal process, and the press should be ashamed of themselves. But more importantly, the people that gave out the information to the press should be ashamed of themselves, really ashamed. Yes, go ahead.
REPORTER: (Unintelligible).
THE PRESIDENT: Because when I looked at the information, I said, I dont think he did anything wrong. If anything, he did something right. He was coming into office, he looked at the information, he said, Huh, thats fine. Thats what theyre supposed to do. He didnt just call Russia, he called and spoke to both
RUSH: Okay, folks, were gonna have to take a bump out here for our commercial break and respecting that for our local affiliates as well. But well come back and rejoin this, and I cant wait to characterize this for you, what you might have missed in the first five or six minutes of it.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: While we were away, President Trump continued to call out the media, the failing New York Times, the fake Wall Street Journal, and really laid into the Obama administration holdovers as the problem with our national intelligence. Lets rejoin it here.
THE PRESIDENT: Ill tell you something. Ill be honest. Because I sort of enjoy this back-and-forth and I guess I have all my life, but Ive never seen more dishonest media than, frankly, the political media. I thought the financial media was much better, much more honest, but I will say that I never get phone calls from the media. How do they write a story like that in the Wall Street Journal without asking me, or how do they the write a story in the New York Times, put it on the front page.
That was like that story they wrote about the women and me, front page, big, massive story, and it was nasty, and then they called, they said, We never said that. We like Mr. Trump. They called up my office, We like Mr. Trump, we never said that. And they totally misrepresented those very wonderful women, I have to tell you, totally misrepresented. I said, Give us a retraction. They never gave us a retraction, and, frankly, I then went on to other things. Okay. Go ahead.
REPORTER: (unintelligible)
THE PRESIDENT: I was given that information. I dont know. We had a very big margin.
REPORTER: (Unintelligible)
THE PRESIDENT: I dont know. I was given that information. Actually Ive seen that information around. But it was a very substantial victory. Do you agree with that? Okay, thank you. Thats a good answer. Yes.
REPORTER: You tell us, in determining Lieutenant General Flynn, there was no wrongdoing in your mind, what evidence was weighed? Did you ask for transcripts
RUSH: All right, folks, Im sorry we have to bump out here again, but the president began all this by saying hes decided hes just gonna go straight to the American people because the medias being so dishonest and misrepresenting. This is exactly what I was hoping he would do, by the way, but well be back and join it in just a second.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Now, dont worry. Im gonna fill you in on whatever you missed. We now rejoin the press conference. Jonathan Karl of ABC News is now yapping at the heels.
THE PRESIDENT: and report them. The leaks are real. You know what they said. You saw it. And the leaks are absolutely real. The news is fake because so much of the news is fake. So one thing that I felt it was very important to do and I hope we can correct it. Because theres nobody I have more respect for well, maybe a little than reporters, than good reporters. Its very important to me, and especially in this position. Its very important. I dont mind bad stories. I can handle a bad story better than anybody, as long as it true. And, you know, over a course of time Ill make mistakes and youll write badly, and Im okay with that. But Im not okay when it is fake. I mean, I watch CNN. Its so much anger and hatred, and just the hatred I dont watch it anymore because its very good
JIM ACOSTA: (interrupting)
THE PRESIDENT: Hes saying no.
RUSH: Right on.
JIM ACOSTA: (interrupting)
THE PRESIDENT: Its okay, Jim.
RUSH: Right on.
THE PRESIDENT: Its okay, Jim. Youll have your chance. But I watch others, too. Youre not the only one, so dont feel badly.
RUSH: (laughing)
THE PRESIDENT: But I think it should be straight. I think it should be I think it would be, frankly, more interesting. I know how good everybodys ratings are right now, but I think theyd actually be I think theyd actually be better. People I mean, you have a lower approval rate than Congress. I think thats right. I dont know, Peter, is that one right? Cause you know I think they have lower I heard lower than Congress. But honestly, the public would appreciate it. Id appreciate it. Again, I dont mind bad stories when its true.
But we have an administration where the Democrats are making it very difficult. I think were setting a record or close to a record in the time of approval of a cabinet. I mean, the numbers are crazy. When Im looking, some of them were approved immediately; Im going forever, and I still have a lot of people that were waiting for. And thats all theyre doing is delaying. And you look at Schumer and the mess that hes got over there
RUSH: (laughing)
THE PRESIDENT: and they have nothing going. The only thing they can do is delay. And you know, I think theyd be better served by, you know, approving and making sure that theyre happy and everybodys good, and sometimes I mean, I know President Obama lost three or four, and you lose them on the way, and thats okay. Thats fine. But I think they would be much better served, John, if they just went through process quickly. This is pure delay tactics, and they say it, and everybody understands it.
JIM ACOSTA: (shouting)
RUSH: Yeah, go ahead, Jim.
JIM ACOSTA: (unintelligible)
THE PRESIDENT: Well, I had nothing to do with it. I have nothing to do with Russia. I told you. I have no deals there. I have no anything. Now, when WikiLeaks which I had nothing to do with comes out and happens to give, theyre not giving
RUSH: They are not asking him a single thing about anything he spoke of in the first half hour.
THE PRESIDENT: classified information. Theyre giving stuff that was said at an office about Hillary cheating on the debates. Which, by the way, nobody mentions. Nobody mentions that Hillary received the questions to the debates. Can you imagine ? Seriously, can you imagine if I received the questions? It would be the electric chair, okay? He should be put in the electric chair! You would even call for the reinstitution of the death penalty, okay? Maybe not you, John. Yes. Well do you next, Jim. Yes?
REPORTER: Can you clarify the core point, I think?
THE PRESIDENT: Yes. Sure.
REPORTER: Did you direct Mike Flynn to discuss sanctions with the Russian ambassador
THE PRESIDENT: No, I didnt.
REPORTER: prior to your inauguration?
THE PRESIDENT: No, I didnt.
REPORTER: You fired him because he
THE PRESIDENT: Excuse me. No, I fired him because of what he said to Mike Pence. Very simple. Mike was doing his job. He was calling countries and his counterparts. So it certainly would have been okay with me if he did it. I would have directed him to do it if I thought he wasnt doing it. I didnt direct him, but I would have directed him because thats his job. And it came out that way. And in all fairness, I watched Dr. Charles Krauthammer the other night say, He was doing his job, and I agreed with him. And since then Ive watched many other people say that. No, I didnt direct him, but I would have directed him if he didnt do it, okay? Jim?
JIM ACOSTA: Thank you very much, and, just for the record, we dont hate you. I dont hate you.
THE PRESIDENT: Okay.
JIM ACOSTA: Uh, so, Ill pass that along, but I I I
THE PRESIDENT: Ask Jeff Zucker how he got his job, okay? JIM ACOSTA: (unintelligible) If I if I may follow up on the questions that have taken place so far here, sir, and
THE PRESIDENT: Well, not too long, okay?
JIM ACOSTA: (unintelligible)
THE PRESIDENT: You do have other people. You do have other people. Your ratings arent as good as some of the other people that are waiting.
JIM ACOSTA: Theyre pretty good now, actually, but, uhhh
THE PRESIDENT: Go ahead, Jim.
JIM ACOSTA: I-if I may ask, sir, uh, you said earlier that, uhhh Uh, WikiLeaks was revealing information about, uh, the Hillary Clinton campaign, uh, during the election cycle. You welcomed that the one point.
THE PRESIDENT: I was okay with it.
JIM ACOSTA: You said you loved WikiLeaks, and at another campaign press conference you you called on the Russians to to, uh, find a missing 30,000 emails. Im wondering, sir, if you
THE PRESIDENT: Well, she was actually missing 33 and then that got extended with a whole pile after that.
JIM ACOSTA: Maybe my number was off a little, too, but
THE PRESIDENT: No, no. But I did say 30, but it was actually higher than that.
JIM ACOSTA: If I may ask you, sir, it it sounds as though I do not have, uh, much credibility here when it comes to leaking, if that is something that you encouraged
THE PRESIDENT: Okay. Fair question. Ready?
JIM ACOSTA: during the campaign, and
THE PRESIDENT: No, no.
JIM ACOSTA: If I may ask a follow-up
THE PRESIDENT Let me do one at a time. Do you mind?
JIM ACOSTA: Yes, sir.
THE PRESIDENT: All right. So in one case youre talking about highly classified information. In the other case youre talking about John Podesta saying bad things about the boss. I will tell you this: If John Podesta said that about me I would have fired him so fast, his head would have spun. He said terrible things about her. But it wasnt classified information. But in one case youre talking about classified. Regardless, if you look at the RNC, we had a very strong at my suggestion, and I give Reince great credit for this.
At my suggestion cause I know something about this world, I said, I want a very strong defensive mechanism. I dont want to be hacked! And we did that, and you have seen that they tried to hack us, and they failed. The DNC did not do that, and if they did it, they could not have been hacked but they were hacked and terrible things came in And, you know, the only thing I do think is unfair, some of the things When I heard some of those things, I picked up the papers the next morning, I said, Oh, this is gonna be front page. It wasnt even in the papers. Again, if I had that happen to me, it would be the biggest story in the history of publishing or the head[lines] of newspapers.
RUSH: Ive never seen this before; this is great. Ive never seen this before.
THE PRESIDENT: I would have been the headline in every newspaper. I mean, think of it! They gave her the questions from a debate, and she and she should have reported herself. Why didnt Hillary Clinton announce, Im sorry, but I have been given the questions to a debate or a town hall, and I feel that its inappropriate and I want to turn in CNN for not doing a good job?
RUSH: (laughing)
JIM ACOSTA: If I may follow up on that, something that Jonathan Karl was asking you about, you said that the leaks are real but the news is fake. I guess I dont understand. Uh, it seems that theres a disconnect there. If the information coming from those leaks is real then how can the stories be fake?
THE PRESIDENT: No, the reporting is fake.
JIM ACOSTA: And if I may ask
THE PRESIDENT: Jim, you know what it is?
JIM ACOSTA: Uh, uh, I just want to ask one more
THE PRESIDENT: Heres the thing. The public isnt You know, they read newspapers, they see television, they watch. They dont know if its true or false because theyre not involved. Im involved. Ive been involved with this stuff all my life. But Im involved. So I know when youre telling the truth and when youre not. I just see many, many untruthful things. And Ill tell you what else I see: I see tone. You know the word tone. The tone is such hatred.
RUSH: (laughing) Yes!
THE PRESIDENT: Im really not a bad person, by the way. No, but the tone is such I do get good ratings, you have to admit that.
RUSH: (laughing)
THE PRESIDENT: The tone is such hatred.
RUSH: (laughing)
THE PRESIDENT: I watched this morning a couple of the net. And I have to say, Fox & Friends in the morning, theyre very honorable people. Theyre very Not because theyre good, cause they hit me also when I do something wrong. But they have the most honest morning show. Its all I can say. Its the most honest. But the tone, Jim. If you look, the hatred, the I mean, sometimes Sometimes somebody gets
JIM ACOSTA: (unintelligible) you, sir.
THE PRESIDENT: Well, you look at your show that goes on at ten oclock in the evening. You just take a look at that show. That is a constant hit. The panel is almost always exclusive anti-Trump. The good news is he doesnt have good ratings. But the panel is almost exclusive anti-Trump, and the hatred and venom coming from his mouth. The hatred coming from other people on your network. Now, I will say this. I watch it, I see it, Im amazed by it, and I just think youd be a lot better off. I honestly do. The public gets it, you know. Look, when I go to rallies, they turn around, they start screaming at CNN. They want to throw their placards at CNN. You know. I think you would do much better by being
RUSH: Honest.
THE PRESIDENT: different. But you just take a look. Take a look at some of your shows in the morning, in the evening. If a guest comes out and says something positive about me, its brutal. Now, theyll take this news conference. Im actually having a very good time, okay? But theyll take this news conference Dont forget, thats the way I won. Remember I used to give you a news conference every time a made a speech which was every day.
JIM ACOSTA: (unintelligible)
THE PRESIDENT: No, thats how I won!
RUSH: (laughing)
THE PRESIDENT: I won with news conference and probably speeches. I certainly didnt win by people listening to you people. Thats for sure. But Im having a good time.
RUSH: (laughing)
THE PRESIDENT: Tomorrow they will say, Donald Trump rants and raves at the press! Im not ranting and raving. Im just telling you, yknow, youre dishonest people.
RUSH: Theyve unleashed a tiger here is what theyve done.
THE PRESIDENT: But Im not ranting and raving. I love and Im having a good time doing it, but tomorrow the headlines are going to be: Donald Trump rants and raves. Im not ranting and raving. Go ahead.
JIM ACOSTA: One more follow-up
THE PRESIDENT: Should I let him have a little bit more? What do you think, Peter, Peter? Should I let him have a little bit more. Sit down. Well get it.
JIM ACOSTA: Just because of the attack of fake news and attacking our network, I just want to ask you, sir.
THE PRESIDENT: Im changing it from fake news, though.
JIM ACOSTA: Doesnt that
THE PRESIDENT: Very fake news. (laughter)
JIM ACOSTA: I know, but arent you (laughter)
THE PRESIDENT: Go ahead.
JIM ACOSTA: Real news, Mr. President, real news.
THE PRESIDENT: And youre not related to our new
JIM ACOSTA: I am not related, sir, no. I do like the sound of Secretary Acosta, I must say.
THE PRESIDENT: You know, I looked at that name, I said, Wait a minute, is there any relation there?
JIM ACOSTA: Im sure you checked that out, sir.
THE PRESIDENT: I checked it. They said, No, sir. I said, Do me a favor and go back and check the family tree. (laughter)
JIM ACOSTA: Arent you concerned, sir, that you are undermining the peoples faith in the First Amendment, the freedom of the press, the press in this country when you call stories you dont like fake news. Why not just say its a story I dont like?
THE PRESIDENT: I do that. No, I do that.
JIM ACOSTA: When you call it fake news youre undermining confidence in our news media. Isnt that important?
THE PRESIDENT: Heres the thing. I understand.
RUSH: Youre doing that yourself, Acosta. Hes not.
THE PRESIDENT: See, I know when I should get good and I should get bad. Sometimes Ill say, Wow, thats gonna be a great story, and Ill get killed. I know whats good and bad. Id be a pretty good reporter, not as good as you, but I know whats good, I know whats bad. And when they change it and make it really bad, something that should be positive, sometimes something that should be very positive theyll make okay. Theyll even make it negative. So I understand it. Because Im there I know what was said, I know whos saying it. Im there. So its very important to me.
Look, I want to see an honest press. When I started off today by saying that its so important to the public to get an honest the press. The public doesnt believe you people anymore. Now maybe I had something to do with that, I dont know. But they dont believe you. If you were straight and really told it like it is, as Howard Cosell used to say, right? Of course he had some questions also. But if you were straight, I would be your biggest booster. I would be your biggest fan in the world, including bad stories about me.
But if you go, as an example youre CNN, I mean, its story after story after story is bad. I won. I won. And the other thing, chaos. Theres zero chaos. We are running this is a fine-tuned machine. And Reince happens to be doing a good job, but half of his job is putting out lies by the press. You know, I said to him yesterday, you know, this whole Russia scam that you guys are building so that you dont talk about the real subject which is illegal leaks, but I watched him yesterday working so hard to try and get that story proper, and Im saying heres my chief of staff, a really good guy, did a phenomenal job at RNC won the election, right? Won the presidency. We got some senators, we got some all over the country, you take a look, hes done a great job. But I said to myself, you know, and I said to somebody that was in there, I said you take a look Reince, hes working so hard just putting out fires that are fake fires. I mean, theyre fake. Theyre not true.
RUSH: Fake fires. Okay, folks, we have reached a point where theres another time-out here that we have to take, but fear not. Whatever youve missed and youve caught the main thrust of all this, but well be reviewing this and taking your phone calls about it when its over. Well be right back.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: While we were gone, Donald Trump just excoriated Hillary Clinton for giving away 20% of the uranium supply and telling the press they never reported it. And he excoriated them for that stupid plastic red button to reset relations with Russia. Well now we rejoin the presser as hes continuing to take these people to school.
THE PRESIDENT: So well be submitting health care sometime in early March, mid-March, and after that were gonna come up, and were doing very well on tax reform. Yes.
REPORTER: Mr. President, you mentioned Russia. Lets talk about some serious issues that have come up in the last week that youve had to deal with as president of the United States.
THE PRESIDENT: Okay.
REPORTER: You mentioned the vessel, the spy vessel off the coast of the United States.
THE PRESIDENT: Not good.
REPORTER: There was a ballistic missile test that many interpreted as a violation of the agreement between the two countries and a Russian plane buzzed a U.S. destroyer.
THE PRESIDENT: Not good.
REPORTER: I listened to you during the campaign
THE PRESIDENT: Excuse me, when did it happen? It happened when, if you were Putin, right now, you would say, Hey, were back to the old games with the United States. Theres no way Trump can ever do a deal with us because the public you have to understand, if I was just brutal on Russia right now, just brutal, people would say, you would say, Oh, isnt that wonderful. But I know you well enough. Then you would say, He was too tough, he shouldnt have done that.
REPORTER: Im just trying to find out your orientation
THE PRESIDENT: Wait a minute. Excuse me just one second. All of those things you mentioned are very recent, because probably Putin assumes that hes not gonna be able to make a deal with me because its politically not popular for me to make a deal. So Hillary Clinton tries to reset, it failed. They all tried. But Im different than those people. Go ahead.
REPORTER: How are you interpreting those moves and what do you intend to do about them? (crosstalk) Rex Tillerson any advice or council on how to deal?
THE PRESIDENT: I have. I have and Im so beautifully represented, Im so honored that the Senate approved him, hes gonna be fantastic. Yes, I think that
REPORTER: Is Putin testing you, do you believe, sir?
THE PRESIDENT: No, I dont think so. I think Putin probably assumes that he cant make a deal with me anymore because politically it would be unpopular for a politician to make a deal. I cant believe Im saying Im a politician, but I guess thats what I am now. Because look, it would be much easier for me to be tough on Russia, but then were not gonna make a deal. I dont know that were gonna make a deal. I dont know. We might; we might not. But it would be much easier for me to be so tough, the tougher I am on Russia, the better.
But you know what? I want to do the right thing for the American people. And to be honest, secondarily, I want to do the right thing for the world. If Russia and the United States actually got together and got along and dont forget, were a very powerful nuclear country, and so are they. Theres no upside. Were a very powerful nuclear country, and so are they. Ive been briefed, and I can tell you one thing about the briefing that were allowed to say it because anybody that ever read the most basic book can say it, nuclear holocaust would be like no other. Theyre a very powerful nuclear country, and so are we. If we have a good relationship with Russia, believe me, thats a good thing, not a bad thing.
REPORTER: So when you say theyre not good, do you mean
THE PRESIDENT: Who did I say is not good?
REPORTER: No, when I read off the three things that have recently happened and each one you said theyre not good.
THE PRESIDENT: No, its not good that they happened.
REPORTER: But do they damage the relationship, do they undermine
THE PRESIDENT: No, they all happened recently.
REPORTER: this countrys ability to work with Russia?
THE PRESIDENT: They all happened recently and I understand what theyre doing because theyre doing the same thing. Now, again, maybe Im not gonna be able to do a deal with Russia, but at least I will have tried, but if I dont, does anybody really think that Hillary Clinton would be tougher on Russia than Donald Trump? Does anybody in this room really believe that? Okay? But I tell you one thing, she tried to make a deal. She had the reset. She gave all that valuable uranium away. She did other things. You know, they say Im close to Russia. Hillary Clinton gave away 20% of the uranium of the United States. Shes close to Russia. You know what I gave to Russia? You know what I gave?
RUSH: I cant wait to characterize this for you, folks.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Just what the doctor ordered. This is Donald Trump going over the head of the media right to the American people, advancing his domestic agenda and being totally transparent with these people. They dont know how to get on the same stage that hes on. The American people are gonna eat this up when they see it.
RUSH: Thats right. Welcome back to the EIB Network, Rush Limbaugh here, and we continue now with the Trump press conference, over an hour, and Trumps still standing, still triumphing over these little spitballs that are being thrown his way. Lets go back. Its gotta be winding down sometime soon.
THE PRESIDENT: Theyre doing this because they feel it, both of them. And Melania goes back and forth, and after Baron finishes school, cause its hard to take a child out of school with a few months left, she and Baron will be moving over to the White House. Thank you. Thats a very nice question. Go ahead. Yes. Hi. Its gonna be a bad question, but thats okay.
REPORTER: No, its not gonna be a bad question.
THE PRESIDENT: Good. Cause I enjoy watching you on television. Go ahead.
REPORTER: Well, thank you so much. Mr. President, I need to find out from you, you said something as it relates to inner cities. That was one of your platforms during the campaign
THE PRESIDENT: Fix the inner cities.
REPORTER: Fixing the inner cities. What will be that fix and your urban agenda as well as your HBCU executive order thats coming out this afternoon. See, it wasnt bad, was it?
THE PRESIDENT: That was very professional and very good.
REPORTER: Very professional.
THE PRESIDENT: We will be announcing the order in a little awhile and Id rather let the order speak for itself, but it will be something that I think will be very good for everybody concerned. But well talk about that after we do the announcement.
RUSH: He tells the reporters when they ask good questions and when theyre bad. Very respectful. (laughing)
THE PRESIDENT: As far as the inner cities, as you know, I was very strong on the inner cities during the campaign. I think its probably what got me a much higher percentage of the African-American vote than a lot of people thought I was gonna get. We did, you know, much higher than people thought I was gonna get, and I was honored by that, including the Hispanic vote which was also much higher. And, by the way, if I might add, including the womens vote, which was
RUSH: Yep.
THE PRESIDENT: much higher than people thought I was gonna get. So we are going to be working very hard on the inner cities having to do with education, having to do with crime. Were going to try and fix as quickly as possible you know, it takes a long time, its taken a hundred years and more for some of these places to evolve and they evolved, many of them, very badly. But were gonna be working very hard on health and health care, very, very hard on education, and also were gonna be working in a stringent way, in a very good way, on crime.
You go to some of these inner city places and its so sad when you look at the crime. You have people, and Ive seen this and Ive sort of witnessed this, in fact in two cases I actually have witnessed it, they lock themselves into apartments petrified to even leave in the middle of the day. Theyre living in hell. We cant let that happen, so were gonna be very, very strong. Its a great question.
Its a very difficult situation cause its been many, many years, its been festering for many, many years, but we have places in this country that we have to fix. We have to help African-American people that, for the most part, are stuck there, Hispanic-American people. We have Hispanic-American people that are in the inner cities, and theyre living in hell.
RUSH: Thats right. Gotta get them out of there.
THE PRESIDENT: You look at the numbers in Chicago, there are two Chicagos, as you know. Theres one Chicago thats incredible, luxurious and all, its safe. Theres another Chicago thats worse than almost any of the places in the Middle East that we talk about and that you talk about every night on the newscasts.
RUSH: Uh-oh.
THE PRESIDENT: So were gonna do a lot of work on the inner cities. I have great people lined up to help with the inner cities.
REPORTER: When you say the inner cities, are you gonna include the CBC, Mr. President, in your conversations with your urban agenda, your
RUSH: Congressional Black Caucasians.
THE PRESIDENT: Include who?
REPORTER: Are you gonna included the Congressional Black Caucus and
THE PRESIDENT: Well, I would. I tell you what, do you want to set up the meeting? Are they friends of yours?
REPORTER: No, Im just a reporter.
THE PRESIDENT: Lets set up a meeting. I would love to meet with the black caucus. I think its great, the Congressional Black Caucus. I think its great. I actually thought I had a meeting with Congressman Cummings, and he was all excited, and then he said, Oh, I cant move, it might be bad for me politically, I cant have that meeting. I was all set to have that meeting. You know, we called him and called him, and he was all set, I spoke to him on the phone. Very nice guy.
REPORTER: I hear he wanted that meeting with you as well.
THE PRESIDENT: He wanted it, but we called, called, called, called, they cant make a meeting with him. Every day I walk in I said, I would like to meet with him, because I do want to solve the problem. But he probably was told by Schumer or somebody like that, some other lightweight, he was probably told
RUSH: Thats some New York stuff going on there, that
THE PRESIDENT: dont meet with Trump, its bad politics, and thats part of the problem in this country. Okay, one more. Go ahead.
RUSH: Lightweight Schumer.
THE PRESIDENT: No, no, one question. Two we cant handle, this room cant handle two. Go ahead, give me the better of your two.
REPORTER: (unintelligible).
THE PRESIDENT: And some of it, and can I be honest with you, this has to do with racism and horrible things that are put up, some of it written by our opponents. You do know that. Do you understand that? You dont think anybody would do a thing like that. Some of the signs youll see are not put up by the people that love or like Donald Trump; theyre put up by the other side. And you think its like playing it straight? No. But you have some of those signs and some of that anger is caused by the other side. Theyll do signs and theyll do drawings that are inappropriate. It wont be my people. It will be the people the other side.
RUSH: Thats right.
THE PRESIDENT: To anger people like you. Okay.
RUSH: Anger people like you.
REPORTER: What are you going to do about it?
THE PRESIDENT: Who is that? Where is that?
REPORTER: (Unintelligible)
RUSH: Folks, hes enjoying this like Ive never seen a president enjoy a press conference. Hes toying with these people.
THE PRESIDENT: We had a totally divided country for eight years and long before that, in all fairness to President Obama, long before President Obama. We have had a very divided I didnt come along and divide this country. This country was seriously divided before I got here. Were gonna work on it very hard. One of the questions that was asked, I thought it was a very good question, is about the inner cities. I mean, thats part of it. But were gonna work on education. Were gonna try and stop the crime
We have great law enforcement officials. Were gonna try and stop crime. Were not gonna try and stop. Were gonna stop crime. Its very important to me, but this isnt Donald Trump that divided a nation. We went eight years with President Obama, and we went many years before President Obama. We lived in a divided nation. And Im gonna try, I will do everything within my power to fix that. I want to thank everybody very much. Its a great honor to be with you. Thank you. Thank you very much.
RUSH: See, thats what he does. Okay. Thats President Trump wrapping up the presser. Thats what he does at the end of every one of his rallies, he thanks everybody, he lets em know that he respects them and appreciates them being there. And thats what Ive always said is the humility of Donald Trump that nobody sees, and nobody recognizes because theyre not looking for it because they have a bias and a prejudice against the guy.
Okay. Welcome, folks, to the EIB Network. Our telephone number is 800-282-2882. Well be getting to phone calls in a minute.
I just want to characterize this press conference. It started off with the acknowledgment of the new labor secretary, whose name is Acosta. And then the president literally spelled out what he was doing. Lets grab audio sound bite number 24. Here is his opening and explaining what hes doing, what the purpose of the press conference was.
THE PRESIDENT: Im making this presentation directly to the American people with the media present, which is an honor to have you this morning because many of our nations reporters and folks will not tell you the truth and will not treat the wonderful people of our country with the respect that they deserve.
Unfortunately, much of the media in Washington, DC, along with New York, Los Angeles, in particular, speaks not for the people, but for the special interests and for those profiting off a very, very obviously broken system. The press has become so dishonest that if we dont talk about it, we are doing a tremendous disservice to the American people, tremendous disservice. We have to talk about it to find out whats going on because the press honestly is out of control.
RUSH: And he continued on that theme, and people that were watching this were no doubt cheering because its absolutely true. And he gave an example. And it turned out to be the example that I opened the program with. Im at home last night, and I get this news alert from the Wall Street Journal. And it says that intelligence officials have considered Donald Trump to be so out of touch and so dangerous, theyre gonna stop sharing intelligence with him! And I looked, I said, Well, this is a coup! This is a silent coup if this is true. And I believed this. Its the Wall Street Journal, for crying out loud.
Im a student of the Drive-Bys, and I thought, Man, this is This is I started You know, a couple of people that I respect, I fired off notes. Did you see this? What do you think about this? I had some discussions. And I get in here this morning and I find out that the whole thing was bogus, that there are intelligence people throughout the history of our country who do not share intel with the president because its bad, because its not worth anything! The Wall Street Journal took something that happens all the time and shaped it and made it look like its brand-new, unprecedented, because Trump is so dangerous and unhinged and bad that they cant afford to share the intel with him.
And the underlying theme was, We cant let Trump see the intel because this guy is working with Russia, and he and Russia worked together to undermine our election. They continue to have that narrative as whats driving all of their approach to Trump. Everything theyre doing is rooted in that. Trumps illegitimacy is rooted in a fake narrative that does not exist and did not happen, that the Russians affected the outcome of the election with the assistance of Donald Trump. And thats the rubric under which that news alert happened last night so Trump addressed it today and mentions how its just totally wrong and fake news and a disservice to the American people who read it.
And he gave a couple of other examples, citing the New York Times. He did all of this, however, with good cheer. He wasnt nearly as animated and quasi-angry as I am about it. He was, in fact, soft-spoken and measured. He came across as nonpartisan as you can in a political sense. But it was classic, and he just called them out. He called CNN out throughout this press conference as hate-filled and strangers to the truth, unable to report the truth, focused on not just disagreeing with him but hating him, and how this is a disservice to the American people.
One of the reporters from CNN, a guy named Jim Acosta this was classic stood up.The whole thing was classic cause Trumps on one stage and theyre in another. And theyre in that room Folks, you have to understand: Theyre in that room to destroy him today. He announced a press conference. Theyre in that room to destroy him, whether they want to admit it or not. And there were three or four questions today that I heard that left no doubt thats what the purpose was.
Despite everything he had said today, they asked these insolent questions, Did you ever talk to Russia during the campaign? Trump said (paraphrased), How many times do I have to tell you? I dont know anybody in Russia! I didnt talk to anybody in Russia! We didnt talk about He was just going on and on, but they kept asking the questions, because thats all theyve got. And theyve got nothing there. The stories I have in the Stack today clearly state that there is no evidence.
These intel people trying to undermine Trump have had to admit that there is no evidence that, A, the Russians had anything to do with the outcome of our election or, B, Trump was working with them on it to undermine Hillary Clinton. And yet that continues to be the narrative that is fueling the press in their pursuit of Donald Trump. So the CNN guy stands up and effectively asks Im paraphrasing Jim Acosta Dont you think ? Dont you think that these routine attacks of yours on the press and on the media undermining the First Amendment by calling what were doing fake news?
Arent you doing a terrible disservice to the Constitution and to the American people by criticizing the media? And there it was. Sure as Im sitting here watching, there it was. They can sit here all day and not just criticize. They can try to destroy people. They can using whatever power they think they have been granted by the First Amendment go out and literally destroy people. Let Trump criticize the way they do their jobs, and all of a sudden its a constitutional crisis. Well, how about Obama trashing me all the time?
How about Obama trashing Fox News all the time? Was that not a threat to the First Amendment? No, they applauded that. They still do applaud that. They join in the attacks on Fox News and, more often than not, they join in attacks on me, too. But they want you to believe that they are this watchdog and that theyre holding truth to power, that theyre holding powerful people accountable. Theyre not doing anything of the sort. The press has gotten to the point where they need a watchdog, and it turns out that Trump is the watchdog!
Trump is the guy holding them accountable.
Trump is the guy calling them out. Ive never seen anything like this today. I have never seen it. We have wanted Republican presidents all of my life to deal with these people this way, and the only thing we ever got was Spiro Agnew. Weve not seen anything like this, and Trump did it with an air of confidence and self-assuredness. He was not nervous at all. He was having fun with them. He was toying with them. Its like if you got a cat. You know how you get these little laser pointers and you have a little kitten or a cat and the cat goes nuts chasing the light? It will run into a wall.
Thats what I was watching here today. It was just It was fantastic, and the American people are gonna eat this up. Now, I said yesterday on this program that what I thought Trump could do to recapture and regain control of the narrative here, if you will of the agenda is simply focus on the domestic agenda. Just get in gear and very publicly start talking about repealing Obamacare, tax reform, building the wall, immigration reform. All of it. Just go full speed at it, and in the process keep people who voted for him on his side and they wont care about whatever these efforts are that the press is engaging in with the intel community to undermining him.
And make no mistake. And he called this out. He accused Obama of running the shadow government. He accused Hillary Clinton and George Soros of being the people paying for people to show up and protest things. He held nothing back! He ridiculed Hillary Clinton for being in part of a deal that gave up 20% of our uranium supply and for having that cheap little red reset button when she became secretary of state. And each time he mentions Obama. He mentions He didnt say shadow government but he said, Our opponents are doing what they can.
He called all of this fake news. He was on spot with all this. You know, its hard to say. You get caught up in the moment. But this was one of the most effective press conferences Ive ever seen. The press is gonna hate him even more after this, dont misunderstand. When I say effective, Im talking about rallying people who voted for him to stay with him. He made a point (paraphrased), What chaos? You people are reporting chaos here. Were not in chaos! Were a well-oiled machine. We got one of the smoothest running machines in the history of machines.
We got one of the best administrations in the history of administrations, and he rattled off the achievements theyve had here that the medias not reporting cause theyre so focused on whether or not Trump worked with Russia to screw Hillary out of the presidency. Hes reassuring his people hes on top ever and nothings changed, and everything that he campaigned on he is doing. All hes doing is fulfilling campaign promises. And of course the Democrats dont like it, and of course the media doesnt like it, but it isnt gonna stop him.
And I have to stop myself here.
“He’s another beauty...”
To the BBC reporter’s face!
I loved it. Best Presidential presser I’ve evah seen!
That was hilarious.
one of the best lines was “I love this”...
“THE PRESIDENT: But Im not ranting and raving. I love and Im having a good time doing it, but tomorrow the headlines are going to be: Donald Trump rants and raves. Im not ranting and raving. Go ahead. “
.
I watched the whole thing.
He really kicked them around.
They deserved it. Even to his face they tried to manipulate the facts.

bookmarking because this fills my heart with love!!!!!
Trump’s dealing with the press reminds me of a cat playing with a mouse BEFORE he decides to kill it by slapping it against the wall. A little smack here, a little smack there and then the final blow. Bring it Donald!!!!!!!
Rush lost me long ago during the first Bundy Ranch situation. It was pretty obvious this was a massive overreach by government and the corruption within. Rush tended to come down on the side of government on this one and he lost me in doing so. It could be he was being threatened over it. If he was, I hope he has the courage to say so now that Trump’s people will be in charge.
That being said it’s good to see him on the right side of things now and maybe I’ll go back to listening and subscribing.
CGato
Trump is doing exactly what Dubya SHOULD have been doing when they came after him. He didn’t, and they ate his lunch, then kicked the GOP out of DC.
But this is a different kind of Sheriff!!!
Trump was great in today’s press conference:

We all seemed to know that George W. had it in him to give it back, but for some reason did not, and we all suffered for his lack of fortitude.
It turns out that the politician media cabal is far more dangerous than the military industrial complex.
I watched the CNN feed.
It was a thing of beauty and I had lots of fun peppering the comments section.
The Trump haters were full of bravado at the start
but were soon left sputtering inane insults, they had nothing.
I’m not kidding. I’m done with the M.S.M. It is DEAD to

I happen to click & hit Pott Skelley’s face spouting more

be surfing on past that garbage.
Trump handed the media and the left a major @$$-whipping this morning. I must say that it was a beautiful thing to behold.
I’ve thanked you before for posting these transcripts they are fun to read.
This one was particularly enjoyable! Tell it like it is.
DJT may very well have the most transparent administration in history. There was a story a few days ago that used a chess metaphor to describe this administration, and on how to be a master at chess and one of the notes was that you stay on the offense, force your opponent’s every move to be a counter to your moves and instead of playing his own game he is playing yours... and most importantly to be a master you let your opponent know exactly what you are doing while you are doing it. It throws them totally off balance.
My favorite was: “We’re going to attack Mosul in 4 months. Then in 3 months- we’re going to attack Mosul in 1 month. Then- we’re going to attack Mosul in 3 weeks”...
SOOOOOO FUNNY!!!!!
