Do it quick! And then get this stupid 9th court matter up there, since the President doesn't seem inclined to issue a new EO to protect our borders.

If the dems force McConnell to confirm this judge on 50 votes, that's all it will take if other openings occur. That might not be a smart move.
But the dems are unhinged, so who knows?

Justice Alito was confirmed with 58 votes in 2006, Justice Thomas with 52 votes in 1991.

Is it possible to stop a vote mid-vote or to change its rules mid-vote?

If the dems won't man up and be adults about this, go nuclear for Gorsuch, and start planning for the inevitable replacement for you-know-who...

It never should have been 60 to begin with. 51 is fine. We may get 4 and if Dems ever get leadership again they will pick who they want. We cannot stall the work of the Supreme Court worrying about what might happen in the future.

Do it now. The Dems have already demonstrated that they would do it to the Repubs without hesitation. Just do it and get it done.
