The City Council of Newton, Massachusetts is considering a sanctuary city ordinance this month. Newton’s city paper The Heights characterized the move as a protest against the election of President Donald Trump and said, “Through these proclamations, the cities cement their commitment to protecting their undocumented immigrant populations, promising that immigrants in violation of federal immigration laws will not only avoid prosecution in the city, but also have continued access to city amenities regardless of their status.”
That may sound very generous, but it’s actually the height of hypocrisy. Newton has virtually no illegal alien population. It is a bedroom community located about 10 miles from downtown Boston. It has a population of about 90,000 people and a median household income of approximately $160,000 per year. That’s over two and a half times the national median, which stands at roughly $60,000. According to real estate websites Zillow and Trulia, the median home value in Newton is just shy of $1 million. Roughly 80% of the population has a college degree and the Newton public schools report only 46 limited English proficiency students. In terms of wealth, education and privilege, it is about as far from Lynn and Lowell, the working-class immigrant towns on the other side of Boston, as one can possibly get.
Therefore, it’s pretty safe to say that Newton isn’t awash in huddled masses of the tired and poor, yearning to breathe free. Unless, of course, you count exiled foreign political leaders such as Benigno Aquino of the Philippines and Nguyen Van Thieu of South Vietnam – both of whom took up residence in Newton once they came to the U.S. . .

Hey, you don’t think they have Americans blowing their leaves and cleaning their houses, do you?
Well, those who would revise a practice with a long history behind it (being careful about immigrants) might profit to understand why the practice existed.
Details can be altered. Sometimes things got pretty ridiculous, for example the cold shoulder that the US (to be fair, under the lefty FDR) showed towards would-be Jewish refugees from WWII — a people that would by and large have been excellent team players in the American picture. But the answer for that kind of thing is “throw out the bath water, but never the baby.”
Some immigrants today don’t WANT to be team players. They want to be parasites and their attitude, not hidden at all, is “Eff America.” Our response should be that they aren’t citizens and don’t have that luxury — not even the luxury of a born citizen. We can’t always choose our relatives but we sure as all get out can choose our guests!
You never know....there aren’t any illegals near them.
I used to live in Newton—believe me.
And Newton is very near Boston, but illegals do the landscaping and housekeeping throughout MA, New England, and the country.
Stop calling them "immigrants"; they're ILLEGAL ALIENS and don't add a damned thing, of any worth, to this nation!
Perhaps some do use illegals and they should have to see some consequences.
Newton is a rich Marxists shithole in Massachusetts and is getting worse if that is possible. Lots of red groups popping up or coming out of the closet in Newton, Lowell and other small leftist cities and towns in a once great state.

Certainly throughout MA and in large areas of CT and most other NE states. Maybe fewer in pockets of VT or ME, I don’t know.
You see this a lot with the La Razans. I bet they wouldn't try that crap in Mexico. They'd have drug cartels working for the Mexican government spraying their houses with bullets.
Surely Newton has a significant population of illegal aliens, during the day... But all of those maids and landscapers are gone by the end of the day. The only ones that remain live in the servant quarters of some of the larger estates.
The Republicans should pass a law that any illegal alien has the right to sue his employer for back pay if he is paid a wage of less than $25 an hour, plus benefits and withholding, with treble damages, and putative damages if the arrangement lasts for more than 30 days. Call it “The Modern Anti-Slavery Act”. We will see how many Americans are willing to put their houses on the line to get cut-rate landscaping services.
Yeah. Suddenly ‘spect all the ‘sanctuary’ cities will declare their undying animosity to the Feds but will in the end notify them as required of arrests of illegales. Just my guess.
Actually, the height of hypocrisy was allowing the corrupt Marxists on the SCOTUS to make the word “marriage” meaningless, and teach absurdity to children—that sodomy is a “virtue” which will completely destroy our Justice system, remove Natural Law Theory and Objective Truth from our Constitution (should be impossible in a rational world) and also removes Reason not just from a Just “law”, but the minds of all children exposed to such a vile concept.
Forcing insanity (and satanism) on children is even more of an hypocrisy than saying the above. It is a forced, conditioned (brainwashing) removal from Reality (Truth (God)).
It is also forcing satanism onto children (a worldview/religion/faith). And these children are supposed to be in a free nation with freedom of religion? In a nation formed upon Natural law Theory and that parents have the Natural Duty to educate their own genetic offspring and we allow the State/strangers to force irrational, absurdity onto our children and set up a mandatory “system” to embed irrational emotions and concepts into our much too young, vulnerable children? Ha! And we wonder why we have “snowflakes” and druggies (addicts) for children who have been embedded with dependency and idiocy in artificial, irrational systems of indoctrination since age 5. LOL
Agency takes a loving mother and father, unstructured free time, privacy, Great Books, and free association and interaction with real people in Reality (Nature) (never warping screens/programming of irrational emotions)-—not some controlled, group-indoctrination factory which only dehumanizes children and embeds dependency (emasculates the boys).
This is/was where they put on the "I'm normal" show.
Newton sounds like Chappaqua. Two good places to temporarily house about 5000 Somalians. That would get a reaction.

That is an excellent idea.
I have seen various leftists promote making it illegal for employers to pay illegal aliens less than minimum wage. [Never mind the fact that it already is illegal, and the very reason that employers use illegal aliens is to be able to pay less than minimum wage and avoid paying taxes and benefits.] These leftists' motivation is their misguided sense of compassion--it's so unfair to pay illegal aliens such low wages! But what they don't realize is that forcing employers to pay minimum wage, with taxes and benefits, removes the incentive to hire the illegals in the first place.
Right now, the minimum wage laws are ineffectively enforced. Illegal aliens don't complain because they are afraid of being deported. But I like your idea--give them legal standing to sue for back pay and benefits, and tie those lawsuits with measures to force the employers to pay back taxes--and maybe they will be tempted by the potential windfall of money enough to accept deportation as a condition of receiving that windfall. And the employers' incentives for hiring illegal aliens would decrease greatly.
President Trump needs to use Eminent Domain to take a few mansions in the middle of every limousine liberal hotspot and turn them into refugee centers.
