NEW HAVEN A man was arrested after police said protesters blocked an ambulance that was carrying a critically ill patient.
The man was arrested on Saturday at around 4:25 p.m. by state police, after state police said they went to I-95 north near the exit 47 ramp in New Haven.
They said that around 100-200 protesters blocked the highway and, following a request for assistance from the New Haven Police Department, state police said they went to the area with riot gear and pepper spray.
State police said the protesters were in the process of being cleared from the highway, but not before they blocked an ambulance carrying a critically ill patient. Due to this delay, EMTs had to perform an emergency medical procedure in the ambulance, instead of at the hospital.
State police tried to find and identify the leader of the protest, who was leading the protest using a microphone and loudspeaker.
State police and New Haven police eventually found and identified the leader of the protest, Norman Clement, 67, of New Haven, on the corner of Church and Chapel streets in New Haven.
Clement ran away from police through the crowd, knocking over several of his supporters, before being apprehended, according to state police, and Clement then actively resisted arrest and was sprayed with pepper spray.
Clement was charged with inciting a riot, disorderly conduct, interfering with an officer and reckless use of the highway by a pedestrian.
Clement was released on a $5,000 bail and was scheduled to appear at New Haven Superior Court on Monday, February 13.
An attorney representing the protesters said police are responsible for problems at the demonstration, including the delay of the ambulance stuck in traffic.
Attorney Patricia Kane said protesters had asked police to inform them if emergency vehicles needed to get through and that officers didnt do so. Kane said she has been told the patient was a woman in labor.
The protesters were protesting President Donald Trumps immigration order.
The Connecticut State Police reminded the public that protests blocking any highway or roadway is not only a crime, but dangerous and wont be tolerated.
All laws will be strictly enforced, they said.
Right...maybe the critically ill patient should pursue assault charges and attempted murder charges.
When does our side get to riot?
"Hundreds of protesters in New Haven block ambulance carrying critically ill patient, hundreds arrested"
Attempting to accomplish political aims through force or threat of force is terrorism, and terrorists should be prosecuted for the crimes they commit (or shot and killed).
This was in my email inbox this morning and also ones for surrounding cities...

Who would follow that weirdo?
Felony records for all.
Search for “Norman” at this link — http://embed.scribblelive.com/Embed/v7.aspx?Id=2030066 — and you will find him trying to recruit socialists at a Sanders rally.
Also, he was identified as an activist with the ANSWER coalition in a 2015 protest.

Give the cowardly bastard a hickory shampoo.
I have no intention of rioting - but I am sure as hell not allowing these twerps to impede my lawful travel.
gives a new meaning to
If I had received such an invitation I would have gone and joined up. Great opportunity to get information about who is paying and encouraging this traitorous movement. I would be so gung ho I would identify the leaders and their plans for a long time and keep records to turn over to the Feds.
I approve. Anyone too stupid to get out of the road needs to suffer the consequences of obstructing emergency vehicles. And if they die? For the violent thugs from the Ctrl-Left, I’m okay with that.
One arrested—sounds like berkeley. No wonder the left act like they can get away with anything, because they can. they are never held accountable for anything.
Sooner or later, some Good Ole Boy’s loved one is going to be in one of the ambulances that they block. And the delay will cause the loved one to lose their life because the treatment/ procedure they need to remain alive, cannot be delivered except in a hospital setting. What will happen then?
Evidently over 200 people. The guy is not a wacko. He is a criminal and has the potential to be a murderer. It is all fun and games until someone looses their life because of their actions. If that someone that did lose their life because of the actions of the anarchists, it would not be funny to me. This is serious what they are doing. These are not innocent children, These are criminals and potential murderers. And should be treated accordingly.

Awesome!
Last week Montana *legalized* car strikes of protesters.
If the police are responsible then they have their orders, no matter what the higher ups say.
CLEAR THE ROADWAY!
