'I spit on the Australian flag and burn it': Female navy officer under fire.....
Daily Mail (Australia/UK) ^ | 4th February 2017 | Belinda Cleary

A female member of the Australian Navy appears to have posted a scathing anti-Australian message on social media threatening to spit on and burn the national flag.

The post was made under the name of Micqaella O'Shane, also known as Micquaella Pryce who works on the HMAS Cairns, in north Queensland.

The shocking attack which takes time to reflect on the suffering of Aboriginal people before threatening to damage the Australian flag was posted alongside a picture of O'Shane in her navy uniform.

'I spit on the Australian flag and burn it (if I even owned the disgusting thing),' she wrote in the post which has since been deleted.

Despite the headline the photographs of this young woman in uniform show that she is not a Naval officer, but a junior sailor - a Seaman. And I would suggest unlikely to advance any further. Calling her an officer is a sad reflection on the lack of knowledge journalists typically have about the military.

Don't know if she could be court martialed under Australian military law but it's hard to imagine her not being quickly discharged. As you may know our Supreme Court has ruled that burning the American flag is an act protected by our First Amendment but,I would think that doing so while a member of our Armed Forces could be a violation of the UCMJ (our military code).

At the very least it would appear that this woman isn't fit to serve in the Australian Armed Forces...and I suspect that some might argue that she's unfit to be an Australian.

(Of course a Yank like me wouldn't be qualified to make such a determination)

“Calling her an officer is a sad reflection on the lack of knowledge journalists typically have about the military.”

Journalism has little to do about research, knowledge and truth.

These words: “reflect on the suffering of Aboriginal people” pretty much tells me what the agenda is.

I’ve often wondered when the Australian PC police will insist such folks are “Native Australians” instead of Aboriginal. I’ve often thought aboriginal would be a more fitting term for US American Indians.

It’s time this generation of spoiled brats in every country learns that actions have consequences. Several years in confinement will give them time to consider where they went wrong….without their phones. Oh, the humanity!

OK...yah,she's pretty. But think about that Secret Service Agent who said she wouldn't take a bullet for Trump.I don't care if she's drop-dead gorgeous...I wouldn't wanna be within 100 yards of her.

IMO physical beauty doesn't make up for lack of character. If it did I'd be camped at Sarah Silverman's doorstep begging her for a few minutes of her time.

A defence member commits an offence if the member does an act that is likely to prejudice the discipline of, or bring discredit on, the Defence Force.

That would seem to apply to me. But more likely, she'd be administratively discharged.

She appears to be part aboriginal herself.

It is equivalent to a Navajo or Cherokee sailor in the USA navy talking about spitting on the US flag.

It makes you wonder why she would voluntarily join the armed forces if she hate its so much.

“Indigenous Australian” is generally the PC term, but as Aboriginals themselves often prefer the term Aboriginal, even most of the PC people don’t make a fuss about that.

(Technically Indigenous Australian is broader - it also includes Torres Strait Islanders, who do not consider themselves Aboriginal).

Once in my life I got within about 50 yards of a couple of Aboriginies in a small town in the Australian Outback. With that experience I look at her photo and wonder of she might have some "native" blood. She doesn't look entirely "European"...she looks like she might have a little of the Pacific Islands in her.

So maybe she's speaking from some personal experience. But saying what she said *while* serving in the military is way over the top IMO.

Didn't see your post before I did Post #13.My limited knowledge (I've traveled that part of the world a bit) suggests Aboriginal and/or Pacific Islands...Maori perhaps.Australia and New Zealand have had a free movement agreement for some time so Maori seems possible to me.

And BTW...if any of them are still alive the Navajo Code Talkers just might take offense to your comment! ;-)

We had an airman at Woomera who decided to befriended a group of Abos in a Port Augusta bar. He told them how sorry he was for their plight, losing their country, and all the respectful things he thought he should say.

After being with him for most of the afternoon, when he got drunk enough, they beat the living daylights out of him and rolled him in the toilet.

His injuries were so bad, he had to be medevac’d back to a hospital in Hawaii.

When he came back to complete his tour after two months, we were like, “Dude, would you go into Watts or Southside and do the same with the brothas?”

No need to come from Maori. Polynesians are not considered a race, but rather a combination of Mongoloid and Australiod peoples with some Caucasiod thrown in.

They come from an ancient line of East Asians and Japanese Aino-like folk from Taiwan, mixed with Melanesian along the way (same people as aborigines) and the “look” is the results of such blendings.

I knew a few people who were mixed white and Abo, and they tending to look this way. Frankly, the Abo look doesn’t appeal to me (sorry to be bigoted that way, Leftists) but when mixed the result tends to be attractive people.

Fairly pretty. However, being pretty does no good if you have an ugly soul.

Yah but it sounds as if they might have been molested before they were set free.

And I thought it was "Lou"...not Bruce.I suspect that you might be thinking of "it's hot enough to boil a monkey's bum in her,Your Majesty...."
