A Baylor University graduate who says she was raped by football players in 2013 sued the university Friday. Her lawsuit includes an allegation that 31 Baylor football players committed at least 52 acts of rape, including five gang rapes, between 2011 and 2014 — an estimate that far exceeds the number previously provided by school officials.

Hard to feel too sorry for her when she kept going back, and then, after getting the free education for her silence, decides to stop being silent. Seems more like she was a willing participant, got paid for it, and now is looking to get paid some more with a civil lawsuit (or made her “settlement offers” to the school before coming forward now) since her career of being a campus girl for tuition is now over.

The woman who wrote that paragraph chose the strangest words to describe the situation.

You’re probably right. Tre’Von and Shamycheal are just nice boys who like football and soda-pop.

Why do these women not press charges. The article said that the Doe woman originally reported the incident to the police but then declined to press charges. ????

If you are not going to report to police and press charges then I’m sorry, no one can help you. And you just passed the problem on to someone else ... as her alleged assailant was later charged with raping someone else.

These women are in part responsible for future rapes by either not reporting the rape TO POLICE and/or then failing to press charges.

What if you knew or suspected your neighbor was molesting kids and murdering them in his home? But you decide to say nothing. Are you not responsible for more kids being victims.

Isn’t there some kind of law that makes people who don’t report crimes part accomplices in future crimes?

This is what I don’t get about all these anti-rape women. Let’s assume all these rapes are true. Then how they hell can they continue and allow the same thing to happen to other women. A lot of the time they just want the university to move the alleged offender off campus, usually to another school. As if this solves the problem. No, if he raped you he will rape someone else later. How can you not say anything or take a payoff?

According to the article, that was a different woman who got the free education. Elizabeth Doe (pseudonym for the victim) was instructed by the leader of the football booster group to name somebody else in the beginning. IOW to lie about the incident to “protect the football squad”. I don’t think Elizabeth Doe got anything, except a lot of grief.

I agree that she behaved stupidly, but I am aware of the kind of social pressure that is applied to young women at Baylor. Luckily my daughter did not experience anything so horrific, but that was only by the Grace of God.

They had some very strange rules there.

Back in the 60s when Baylor was still a Christian school, Playboy did a feature about the girls at various universities and colleges and how “easy” they were. The blurb on Baylor was “Baylor girls don’t”.

Why do you assume she is lying?

Fallout from the Feminazi effect, maybe?

I agree wholeheartedly but, I witnessed the kind of pressure that is exerted on young women by the administration at a school like Baylor.

Elizabeth Doe is at the mercy of the Baylor Administration and the Waco PD. I can just “hear” the Dean of Women saying, “If you are not SURE who raped you, or even if you were really raped, it would be ‘un-Christian’ to ruin a young man’s future with false charges.” And then the leader of the team booster group saying, “Elizabeth, if you bring these charges it will ruin the football team. Besides, you are not even sure what happened.”

She should have reported it immediately and had a rape kit done. But, she probably was a freshman and was scared and inexperienced at dealing with beaurocrats.

And you are right. Avoid steroid pumped athletes.

You want to know why many rapes are not reported? Just read the comments on this thread. Imagine being gang raped and then someone tells you that you probably like group sex.

Plus, when rapes happen on campus the report is usually made to the campus police. At big football schools the police and the university cover it up. Even at Christian schools.

Ugh.
Why do people put so much stock in these football teams?
It’s madness.
They make these football players out to be minor gods ... even in high school.

Anyone who reports a major felony to a bunch of rent-a-goons is too stupid for justice.

I hear what you are saying but maybe someone should get the word out: report real crimes to real police.

I have a son, not a daughter. I have advised my young son to avoid football (even though he seems physically above-average) because of head injuries.

If I had a daughter I would advise her to avoid party situations where rape is likely, like raves or football parties.

Well, I believe all sex should be done within marriage, so I believe all women can present semen evidence from boyfriends as proof of rape.

Are you even that conservative?

I said a single time shows rape in that prior post. Multiple times shows it could be otherwise.

You should have your head examined.

Anonymous accusations of crime should not be permitted in a court of law, for any reason. The repercussions of being accused of rape in this society are huge. These men should be able to face their accuser.

If there is sufficient evidence to persuade a jury that they did indeed rape this currently anonymous woman, then convict them. If there isn’t, then put her on trial for filing false charges and defamation of character.

“...Just pay the jocks to play...”

Well, yeah. That’s really what is. This isn’t a recent phenomenon either. It’s been going on for at least 50 years.
