For crying out loud, it was the court that branded Manning a traitor.
I don't think characterizing him as a "spoiled brat" is fair, or accurate.
It's my recollection that he objected to the publication of misleading photographs of the crowd in order to make the number of attendees look much smaller than it actually was.

Yes, you are correct. NEITHER pardons the crime; only the sentence. However, the status of a pardon does offer some better sense of legality in terms of restoration of ‘benefits’ than does a commutation. Of course, I’m just an old fart and I could very well be wrong, but this is what I believe.
If he’s not a traitor then the Rosenbergs ought to be posthumously awarded Presidental Medals of Freedom.
