Even a pardoned traitor would still be a traitor.Men infinitely better than Manning died trying to find and rescue him.That’s what really pisses me off about him.

Yes, you are correct. NEITHER pardons the crime; only the sentence. However, the status of a pardon does offer some better sense of legality in terms of restoration of ‘benefits’ than does a commutation. Of course, I’m just an old fart and I could very well be wrong, but this is what I believe.
