WASHINGTON — Speaker Paul D. Ryan was re-elected to another term by the House on Tuesday, retaining the gavel as Republicans prepared to reverse reams of Obama administration policies in an era of unified Republican government.
For Mr. Ryan, 46, the vote was a formality, affirming his role as the steward of conservative policy making in the age of President-elect Donald J. Trump. Long considered the party’s intellectual core, Mr. Ryan has strained at times to corral the disparate forces in his conference, particularly hard-line members who had fought often with his predecessor, John A. Boehner.

I’m no fan of Ryan. The one good thing I see here is that he doesn’t have the guts to withstand a staring contest with The Donald.
Ryan may be Speaker but he’s not a Boss.
Better get used to him, he’s going to be in Congress for a long time.
After Ryan’s performance as Speaker the last year and his abhorrent conduct during the Trump campaign he doesn’t deserve it.
He should have run against Nancy Pelosi for Minority Leader.
And Ryan didn’t do anything to stop his fellow buds from tanking the Ethics committee.

So we shouldn’t expect the goons who hit Reid will do anything?

Yeah, I wasn’t tired of winning yet. Replacing Ryan would have been more winning.
Maybe I missed it but I did not hear about any serious conservative challenge to Ryan. Until that happens we will continue to see RINO speakers like Ryan. I actually think Boehner may have been slightly better which illustrates the principle that it can always get worse.
