LAS VEGAS – Ronda Rousey was once again pummeled by a striker and lost her second consecutive bout. The former women’s bantamweight champion was completely outclassed in the striking game by Amanda Nunes, who stopped Rousey at 48 seconds of the first round to retain her women’s bantamweight championship in the main event of UFC 207 at T-Mobile Arena.
Nunes landed a big right just seconds into the fight that clearly hurt Rousey, who was fighting for the first time since a stunning defeat at the hands of Holly Holm on Nov. 14, 2015.
Rousey tried to throw punches with Nunes, but she had nothing to offer. Nunes was blistering her with combinations, hitting her with virtually everything she threw.
“This is amazing,” Nunes said in exultation.

Maybe Michelle Obama can challenge Nunes for the belt.
Rousey is not a boxer. If it’s judo she’ll beat the tar out of you. But not boxing.
As an ex boxer, I was told to watch some of these women fights.
They hit like girls. Strong girls who train, but hit like girls nonetheless.
They couldn’t knock me out back in the day if I was handcuffed for three minutes.
And they couldn’t possibly withstand an overhand or a hook from me.
Maybe a few jabs.

So true....like womens basketball, boring and (excuse the pun), bush league. There are boys high school teams that could beat any WNBA team.

Why do you say that? Rousey has already been in feature films, Entourage, Fast and Furious 7, The Expendables 3. She has a budding film career and has done several commercials. She’s a smart, beautiful woman who just figured out last night that boxing shouldn’t be her day job.
However, I will watch women’s beach volleyball.
Maybe you should schedule something up.

The 100 ranked tennis player wouldn’t let Venice Williams win a set. But I will tell you this. I coached youth ice hockey for many years. My 13-14 year olds went up against a U18 girls team and the only rule we had to follow was no body contact. We got slaughtered. When we played them later in the season and they allowed contact, the girls team couldn’t get the puck over center ice.
When it comes to contact and strength, girls cannot compete with boys. That’s not sexist, just the way it is. You mention high school basketball and the WNBA. Let them have a foul shooting contest. I will wager that the WNBA team slaughters them.
I usually only watch Olympic beach volleyball. But the women play much harder than the guys. They also look a lot better too.
I thought she said something early this year to piss us off. I forgot what it was and if it was her. But my gut tells me it was her.
