Stop The National Carry ‘Permit’ Movement
ammoland.com ^ | 12/28/2016 | unknown

The lamestream media told you:

“Do you have a firearms carry permit Mr. Trump?” “Yes.”

“Are you for law and order?” “Yes. Law and order is very important.”

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

The last thing you ever want is to have the federal government issuing national — or any — firearm carry permits.

The feds do not have this power. The feds should never have this power.

Your right to have a firearm anywhere in America should never depend on getting “papers” from any government, much less the federal powers in Washington, D.C.

If you have a gun — constitutionally protected private property — and you aren’t doing anything inherently wrong, that should never be a crime. There is no victim. No one is harmed. No actual crime is committed. The idea that you need a wallet card to be somewhere you have a legal right to be is preposterous.

Eggs-actly my thougths. The govt should NOT be involved in "authorizing" your rights.

No ifs, ands, buts, etc. in rights!
Rights are just recognized, not granted, supervised, removed, etc.

I think the point is to make states reciprocal like for driving licenses. The feds are granting nothing, just forcing the states to not discriminate against citizens of another.

We do need the ability to travel unfettered throughout country without lugging a satchel full of law books.
We should also not need to weave around various states simply to get from Point A to Point B with ease.
My issued driver license is universally honored everywhere I travel in the nation without question or hassle.

I don’t want a national carry permit. I want all 50 (57?) states to recognize a permit issued by any other state just as they do with driver licenses.

States like NJ, where I live, will never allow open or concealed carry on their own. You can dream of voting in people and changing laws but that will not happen in certain states. They are too far gone and there aren’t enough people to vote in change. I’d leave if I could but I’m stuck here for now.

I have permits from 4 other states. Force NJ to recognize those permits as they would a driver’s license.

As I have read the national carry push is not about the feds issuing a carry license. It is part of an interstate clause that forces reciprocity. Pity the poor Californians who can’t go anywhere with a firearm. BUT, all the Nevadans, Arizonans, and Oregonians will happily be safe in California.

National carry reciprocity please. National carry permit, not so much. The 2nd amendment is my carry permit.

“We should also not need to weave around various states simply to get from Point A to Point B with ease.” LOL! That’s what we did when we moved from FL to NV. Planned route to keep from possibly getting busted for some states dumbass anti-gun laws. Considering what was in the trunk, it was probably a good idea.

You have made an excellent point, alephnull.
People situated in certain states, like you, need all fifty states to very clearly and efficiently recognize one another.
You can continue to send renewal fees to Utah or wherever...and New Jersey should be compelled to honor it.

If a government entity can issue a ‘permit’, it can also deny one as well...................

Not all states honor each other.
One literally has to research laws before travel, print them, and carry in vehicle in case presentation is needed.
Having links saved on a smartphone is wise to decrease opportunity of being face-down in oily gravel at roadside.

Oh, I know that. I thought the whole movement was about reciprocity, not about taking the firearm licensing out of the states and putting it at the Federal level.

I would be against that, unless they said that would negate the need for a license due to the existence of the 2nd Amendment...now THAT I would be for.

Simple 2A compliance through the USSC solves all these issues.

Strike down any state law that infringes on our God-given right to defense (which would include ANY permitting scheme), and stay out of the way...

Concealed Carry has been fought for and won at each of the many states, not at the federal level.

What the Feds give, they can take a way.

Then the Fed. should be coming down already on the ‘may issue’ States, if not on the licensing to begin, for INFRINGEMENT.

Our Rights are inherently ‘reciprocal’; granted by our Creator. Govt needs do *NOTHING*, but get out of the way, and protect said Rights.

But, I see no problem with the Federal government legislating that a CCW permit issued by a state is valid in all other states - just like a drivers license.

Fine, reciprocity it is. I want the other 52 to conform to the (legal/true) Constitutional carry of the current 5.

Sad, but I suspect no better from the GOP\(R)NC: Govt usurps, parties haggle on the ‘details’, govt grows = liberty reduces, everyone claims ‘victory’ and nobody touches\remembers the root cause\’way it was’. Rinse, rather, repeat.

Right of travel, then became licensed to drive\registration, now is ‘privilege to drive (travel)’...next is ‘permission to purchase’ (environment, CAFE...)??

Was up to 50’s/60’s one could order through the mail...long how THAT changed in a few decades.

I want all 50 States to recognize my permit is the 2nd Amendment. Period.

The only hiccup / hurdle is there are states where getting CCW credentials is essentially impossible.
A person in those circumstances, as mentioned earlier in this thread, would have to move to obtain those rights.
