No ifs, ands, buts, etc. in rights!
Rights are just recognized, not granted, supervised, removed, etc.

I think the point is to make states reciprocal like for driving licenses. The feds are granting nothing, just forcing the states to not discriminate against citizens of another.

We do need the ability to travel unfettered throughout country without lugging a satchel full of law books.
We should also not need to weave around various states simply to get from Point A to Point B with ease.
My issued driver license is universally honored everywhere I travel in the nation without question or hassle.

I don’t want a national carry permit. I want all 50 (57?) states to recognize a permit issued by any other state just as they do with driver licenses.

States like NJ, where I live, will never allow open or concealed carry on their own. You can dream of voting in people and changing laws but that will not happen in certain states. They are too far gone and there aren’t enough people to vote in change. I’d leave if I could but I’m stuck here for now.

I have permits from 4 other states. Force NJ to recognize those permits as they would a driver’s license.

As I have read the national carry push is not about the feds issuing a carry license. It is part of an interstate clause that forces reciprocity. Pity the poor Californians who can’t go anywhere with a firearm. BUT, all the Nevadans, Arizonans, and Oregonians will happily be safe in California.

National carry reciprocity please. National carry permit, not so much. The 2nd amendment is my carry permit.

If a government entity can issue a ‘permit’, it can also deny one as well...................

Concealed Carry has been fought for and won at each of the many states, not at the federal level.

What the Feds give, they can take a way.

But, I see no problem with the Federal government legislating that a CCW permit issued by a state is valid in all other states - just like a drivers license.

Fine, reciprocity it is. I want the other 52 to conform to the (legal/true) Constitutional carry of the current 5.

Sad, but I suspect no better from the GOP\(R)NC: Govt usurps, parties haggle on the ‘details’, govt grows = liberty reduces, everyone claims ‘victory’ and nobody touches\remembers the root cause\’way it was’. Rinse, rather, repeat.

Right of travel, then became licensed to drive\registration, now is ‘privilege to drive (travel)’...next is ‘permission to purchase’ (environment, CAFE...)??

Was up to 50’s/60’s one could order through the mail...long how THAT changed in a few decades.

The government will NOT be issuing “national carry permits”. What the government will do, and has the authority to do, is require national reciprocity of carry licenses, the same as is done for driver’s licenses. I think legislation might be necessary to force current non-issue states to issue their own state licenses.

I lived in Arizona for a short time.

The first time I went into a gun shop I looked at a pistol and said “I’m from NY and I’m not familiar with the laws in this state- what do I have to do to buy this pistol?”

His answer was “Give me $450”

Arizona was so cool with guns. We were out in the desert doing some target practice and a state cop car came by and stopped- and being from NY my first thought was uh-oh...

Then they asked if they could target practice with us! Even offered to pay for ammo- which we graciously declined.

It was the first time in my life I got lost and asked directions- from a guy on a horse. It was not uncommon to see someone in the grocery store with a holster on.

It was great!

True. Natural Rights predate all governments. The USA has no constitutional powers to censor any of our natural rights from God...ever, unless we are not following a “Just” “law”-—all unjust, unequal, warped, irrational (socialist/Marxist) “law” is “null and void” and antithetical to our natural rights. There are SCOTUS members and congressmen who need to be in prison for treason and subversion of our Rule of Law. (Higher Laws/God’s Laws). Our legal system is only based on Objective Truth (God) and there is no evolution of “good” and “evil” and “Justice”, the queen of virtue.

This promotion of vice in our “justice” system needs to end before it collapses civil society which Cicero stated will happen with promotion of evil, vile behaviors (like theft, welfare, sodomy, baby-killing). It will corrupt the next generation because vice will be normalized and Freedom (trust and vibrant economy) can never exist with an evil people.

--some of the psoters need to be enlightened that the "reciprocity" of drivers licenses is through a VOLUNTARY compact , to which all states have chosen to join.

--a similar "agreement" could never work for concealed weapons as California, New York, etc., would never join---

It’s a good point. There isn’t another amendment to my knowledge where the government has to sign off on your guaranteed rights.

The government is in a position of abeyance, not power here.

What we need is a Constitutional amendment to require the government to obey the Constitution. Either that or a good 5¢ cigar.

National reciprocity for starters, with the ultimate goal of permitless constitutional carry nationwide.

They should just affirm that like a drivers license or marriage certificate, any state permit will be recognized everywhere.

Better first step than making another separate federal law.
