An Iowa lawmaker is looking to slash funding for public colleges spending money on grief counseling and other kid-glove treatment for students upset over last weeks presidential election results -- telling snowflakes everywhere: Suck it up, buttercup.
Since Donald Trumps upset victory last Tuesday, colleges across the country have brought in therapy dogs, canceled exams and held cry-ins on campus.
But Republican state Rep. Bobby Kaufmann says he will introduce a suck it up, buttercup bill in January when the Iowa State Legislature resumes, in a bid to fight back against campus coddling.
The bill would hit taxpayer-funded state universities with a budget cut for double the amount they spend on such election-related activities. Kaufmann emphasized that existing therapy and mental health services are not being targeted.

Not a bad idea. There has to be some steel put into these kids backbones, somewhere. They have to learn that sometimes life deals tough situations.
I heard some school brought in ponies.
Dont recall which university it was but one had a cry in today and professors furnished tissues and hot cocoa...
These college students are being treated like kindergarten kids...Do they not feel embarrassed???
I certainly would....
I applaud the Representative's intent, but it seems as if the implementation of this would be difficult. It's not as if they can get the money for the puppies and coloring books (or days of employees' time) back.
If the "2x your election silliness" cut is not going to come out of ongoing mental health/counseling budgets, then it will reduce funding for other, unrelated programs.
I propose that it be called the “Suck It Up or Be Left Behind” act.
I like cocoa. If I were there I’d say “I voted for Trump. Gimme my cocoa dammit!”
Not only putting some steel into their spines, but where are the parents of these ‘snowflake cry babies’, surely not paying colleges for this crap!!!
There. That's better.
Our future leaders. God help us.
Many of these “kids” are many years older than a lot of the (actual) kids who landed on Normandy beaches in 1944.
I’d feel “used.”
embrace the suck
I think God IS helping us. I think when this has all played out, it’s the “colleges” that are going to look stewpid to their students.
The school made a big damn thing over it.....therapy...counseling...testing for ADHD.
The school geniuses are just plain stupid.
Got a relative who works as a career counselor at one of these coddling schools. She has copied me with the memos that have gone out and says she is being pressured to support a Soros-funded event.
Best solution:
BRING
BACK
THE
DRAFT!
Oh my, now I’ve heard it all.
Are you a liberal? They want the draft.
